Brickfair

This is going to be extremely hard to understand and confusing to some people but I’ll try to keep it as clear-cut as possible.

Sometime in the future BrickFair is going to take up the expanse of an entire city; yes I said it, an entire city just of LEGO. In this city there are going to be places for attendees to stay, since BrickFair is so big I was staying at a rather large residence with a lot of my relatives. Although, it wasn’t just my relatives staying in the mansion like building, it was more of a BrickFair family house for families to stay together until the city-wide LEGO event opened to public.

Most of my time was spent going around and trying to get my projects and creations built for the display area I had. There really wasn’t anything LEGO in the house, besides the creations and pieces brought in for the event and then transferred to the display areas. Things started to get weird though, one of the people staying with us couldn’t get their communicator to work, and they had the exclusive Google pass, which apparently lets you communicate with anyone in any manner you choose. They were using the device to document their WIP for BrickFair but they couldn’t get the latest video to upload.

Then… things got even stranger. Like Maximum Overdrive strange, for those of you who haven’t seen Maximum Overdrive. Basically, a meteorite passes the Earth and causes all types of technology to mow-down human beings. Since communications were on the fritz and I couldn’t get in touch with any BZPers, I didn’t know who was staying where for some reason, I went exploring with some of my cousins or neighbors staying at the house with us. We went into this one older updated house a lady offered to show us, but the automatic doors shut and locked us in. Then the air filtration on the main floor started spewing fumes instead of breathable air so the lady sent us to the basement. On the way to the basement, through an old stone stairwell, she stopped and showed us some hidden picture within the wall. She explained it was some prophecy about a future event, and told us to keep moving. Finally when we got to the basement, she showed us a stone passage that led between the houses, it was an underground network, sort of like the Underground Railroad.

We made our way through the tunnels, which took a while because in some places it was so narrow you had to shimmy sideways through the stone passages. Eventually we made it back to our house and it was odd, we came out in an office… which was filled with all kinds of technology. It was a flurry of printers, copiers, and shredders throwing paper and trying to suck us up. Even worse, parts of the office floor had little motorized strips to move workers along; of course they were moving as fast as they possibly could as we tried to walk across them. Once we made it out of the office, licking paper cuts along the way, we realized the house was practically empty all of our families were gone. Communicator girl went into a frenzy trying to contact her dad on a phone that wouldn’t work, although the device didn’t explicitly do anything to harm us, for some reason it wasn’t affected like everything else was.

After we grabbed some things from our rooms, we made it to the kitchens and attempted to exit the house. Now, the kitchen is a kitchen, so it is full of all kinds of tech trying to murder us. On top of that, it’s a kitchen big enough to feed multiple families. Walking by one freezer is actually running past a trio of freezers trying to freeze you solid. It was pretty bad with all the ovens turning on and reaching broiler heat that crisped the air behinds us, the fryers boiled the vegetable oil and tried to spray us… anything you can imagine happened. All of us made it out unharmed and we got into the dining area which had a set of normal doors we could open to get out. But, there was someone in the dining area, the communicator girls dad… When I saw him I realized he looked familiar, sort of like… Princess Lea’s dad? What. I did a double take on the girl, no she wasn’t the princess younger… She was a blonde, and clearly this wasn’t a guy from a galaxy far-far away it couldn’t be.

I have no idea what he told her because what happened next was… well it jarred all of us. The entire house shook and we all ran outside. The ground was shifting and moving, then falling away as something rose up out of it. A kaita. I’m talking about some enormous custom Toa Kiata built out of Bionicle pieces rising up out of the ground. That’s when the starships appeared in the sky… The kaita blasted one right out of the sky, but there was an entire fleet to deal with. Out of nowhere someone shouted “It’s morphin time!” and the next thing I knew I was a power ranger and flying through space in a megazord trying to blow up the Empire fleet. Yeah, the Empire from Star Wars… Then another megazord showed up with another team of power rangers, although I don’t know who they were. We ended up landing back in the BrickFair town after being shot down and shooting down some ships too.

Ironically, we crash landed in one of the LEGO Star Wars exhibit, which was a life size model of the final battle in Episode II The Clone Wars, where the clone fleet attacked the separatist droid army. Somehow I got separated from my team or they died in the crash… I’m not sure. I made my way to one of the buildings looking for shelter, because the ships had deployed ground troops and I didn’t want to get caught out in the open against an army of stormtroopers. It was odd, going into the LEGO replica… I pressed on the hand pad and the door opened like some futuristic Star Wars door might… Then I got inside and there was a lockdown button that sealed all the doors so I pressed it and locked the entire building down to buy me some time, as the Storm Troopers were pursuing me. While I was exploring the building I came across this massive bed with a dead alien in it and a medical droid hovering around it, right then the sound of a det-pack echoed through the structure and I realized the lock-down button hadn’t prevented them from getting in. So what do I do? I dived under the dead aliens bed and hid like any self-respecting adult-kid would.

While I hid under the bed and listened to the footsteps get closer, I realized the alien above wasn’t dead… he was just on his death bed and dying. When the Troopers finally reached the bed though, they didn’t search for me the just stood around the alien’s bed. Then I noticed they weren’t Storm Trooper boots anymore… they were something entirely different. I kept quiet and listened… The Empire Fleet wasn’t the real Empire from a galaxy far far away, they were just aliens who assembled that form after searching through Earth’s database. (Thank you George Lucas!) Apparently they had pursued the dying Alien to Earth where he was hiding as some BrickFair designer, and they had came to Earth to take him back home and to take this “LEGO Tech” with them. Everything started to become clear, all the technology issues we had were caused by the alien invaders so we wouldn’t have any defenses or be able to put up a fight. Yet, they hadn’t expected all of our LEGO to start acting and working like real things, and we couldn’t even explain that… unless of course the dying alien did something… Then the room was empty and the aliens were gone. They vanished into thin air and the room was empty, then I realized I had a communicator. The thing was in a bleeping frenzy and when I pulled it out it was flashing “Congratulations You’ve Been Awarded A Google Pass!” Now the girl I was with previously had the same thing but hers wasn’t working, although mine clearly was in working order. I did the only thing I could think to do, I tried contacting everyone at BrickFair who knew about LEGO Bricks so we could put up a fight, but still I couldn’t get in touch with any BZP Staff and finally I sent a message to a member trying to explain the best I could and hoped they’d understand and listen.

Now that the area was clear of Storm Troopers, rather alien life-forms, I made my way out of the building and back into the desert LEGO scene. There weren’t any weapons and since apparently I had a working Power Ranger LEGO Morpher I figured I was okay. Then I saw some smoke and realized it was the other group of Power Rangers that must have crash landed too. So I made my way over to them and just as I got there aliens showed up and surrounded us. We tried morphing but something was jamming the signal or whatever was allowing LEGO Bricks to act as real objects they represented. They captured us and took us to their base camp not far away, and since we wouldn’t talk and technically couldn’t explain anything about what was going on with the fantastic “LEGO Tech” they were after, they started to torture it out of us. It was just our luck they had a medic trained in torture, so one by one he cut at us with a scalpel. The pain was agonizing, even though I was the last to be cut on, watching the others be tortured was unbearable. Just a slice of the arm was terrible. The blade didn’t actually make you bleed, it just cut through your skin and everything under it and left you in pain. The medic only afflicted arm and leg wounds on the first five people. When he got to me he decided to change things up… I might have said something to make him do it or maybe it was a look I had about me. He decided to cut on me in an area that I really shouldn’t say. I realized what he was going to try and do so just before cut at me I moved, instead of hitting the target area he missed and sliced down my inner thigh, which allowed me to kick the scalpel out of his hand. The blade went flying and one of the others picked it up and cut everyone else free and we started to fight back. During the fighting my communicator started to go off and then…

I woke up.

It was one massively epic dream on multiple levels, although I can’t really explain any of it. Usually I can make some rhyme or reason for my dreams but I’m completely lost as to why I dreamt this. The only think I know is it was in the future because my one cousin had kids that were grown up, and earlier in the day we had talked about my aunt and uncle, my cousins’ parents. I can’t explain anything else though. I can explain my relatives being present in my dream but everything else… well it was awesome, besides the fact that I must have been around thirty years old or older… That might explain why I never saw anyone from BZP. I’m not sure which was scarier being invaded by an unknown alien race or isolated and cut off from everyone you know.
