Hawks Beat Sabres, Face Preds Tonight

The Chicago Blackhawks brought in their first win of the season in Buffalo, New York, against Ryan Miller and the Sabres in a come-from-behind win-- 4-3, Final. But the main story is a hit that Niklas Hjalmarsson dished out to one of the Sabres, knocking him out and drawing Nik a two-game suspension, while Miller is making some clearly angry comments (as he should be, when one of his teammates is knocked out and injured). Team USA's Olympic star, Miller, is also saying that Niklas Hjalmarsson should be given ten times the suspension Hjalmarsson actually received. (20 games, for those of you who don't believe in Math outside of school hours) It will be interesting to see what happens when Hjalmarsson returns in two games, when the Blackhawks will be playing--let me see--

--the Buffalo Sabres. Expect penalties on Sabre players against Hjalmarsson.

Anyhow, another story is that the Blackhawks and Predators are meeting for the first time since the first round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs, when the Hawks eliminated Nashville on their way to the Stanley Cup. (I was privileged enough to be in Murfreesboro--right outside Nashville-- just after the Hawks won the cup. People hated my Stanley Cup Champions cap. I wonder why. :P )

Also, do you remember while watching the Hero Factory mini-series, seeing some commercial for a ridiculous TV show called NFL Rush Zone? Apparently, it's some joint project between the NFL and Nicktoons. Anyhow, I was reminded of it when I read an article on NHL.com about a project between Stan Lee of Marvel Comics and the NHL, to create 30 superheroes based on the NHL teams, called the Guardian Project.

It just seemed ironic to me that both the NFL and NHL got such similar ideas at the same time, although one is a kids' show, while the other is a comic book.

I also bet you anything that the Blackhawks' superhero is some blackhawk indian that got his powers from some spirit. It sounds like Marvel's style.
