As the blog rules say, it's perfectly fine to say who you support in the political race. If I could vote, I'd vote for Newt Gingrich. As I can't vote, I'd still say Newt Gingrich. =P

Plus, let's keep this at least civil, guys. You know the rules.

Note, this has nothing to do with this whole wet manes ban going on, and if that is brought up in this entry, action will be taken. Anything inappropriately said here (as that seems to be something that is said to be going around with MLP with these images apparently) will definitely not be allowed. Follow BZP rules, guys.

But this is just an honest question to those who watch it: Why do you watch it?
  3. Peach 00
So seriously, guys. Who's better? They've been such classics over the years, with such great moments with wonderful childhood memories and good games. All of it have made these characters gaming icons since the late 80's and early 90's.

Just to see what you guys think I figured I'd post this.

    ...That and I'm bored.

The MLP fad/meme/population is rapidly growing apparently. I've never watched it, and me, being a girl, is probably an amazement to most. To be honest, I've never been really into 'girl' stuff. It's more been outdoor activities, Pink Floyd, Jimmy Stewart, Star Wars, and Call of Duty for me than High School Musical, Barbies, Hannah Montana, and Justin Bieber. There's a much, MUCH higher probability that, if you were to walk into my room, you'd see a Breakfast at Tiffany's poster instead of a Justin Bieber poster on my wall. Now that I've drilled that point into the ground, let me continue.

I've never seen the show, so I don't know what it's like. I've heard some pretty good things about the show, but I still didn't take one step towards trying it out. I'm not an easy person to convince. I mean, awhile ago, I kind of thought it was the average girl's show with glitter and pink, but some recent comments have made me think otherwise. Nonetheless, I haven't really considered trying it out. =/

So, I basically made this for some people to give me reasons to watch the show. Not threats, or just a comment that seems like your forcing me into watching it, but just some reasons as to why I might like it or should try it out. =]

(Also, as a side note, it's slightly scaring me that there are probably more guys on here that are fans of MLP. o.O)

I'm feeling slightly ignored lately - I don't know what it is, I really don't. Not that I'm begging to be in the spotlight 24/7, but I'd just like to be notice. I've felt this way about a lot of things lately. My writing, discussion - it seems like I'm just being ignored, invisible to everybody else. My writing gets absolutely no recognition nowadays, and when I post valid, controversial points in some topics, people completely ignore what I say. I can post page-length posts and nobody even cares to read them.

And with my stories? I can spend weeks, months, years - nobody cares. I've been writing Danger Close for two years now. Repeat, two. I used to have plenty of recognition for writing it, solid reviews and comments. Ever since the forums came back online, I've been completely unnoticed. And when I entered the SSC8 contest, two people reviewed the story. Two. I appreciate the comments, but I'm just angry that nobody really cared to look, to venture into something new and maybe enjoy it.

And then when the polls come out...when they come out, I'm not there. Sure, there was a 1 in 43 chance, but it was a story I had been working on since the contest started. I put my nose to the grindstone to write the best story I could, and it doesn't get any notice of even existing.

So tell me, BZP: What does it take to get noticed? Put some flashy title in a blog entry or story? Make it something to do with zombies, blood, skulls, and maybe even My Little Pony? I seriously don't get what I have to do to actually be noted. After the polls came out, I've really been questioning my writing ability and if I'm all that good. Just being ignored hasn't at all motivated me to write, and I can't come up with anything original or creative. When nobody reads my writing, why should I write?

And before everybody starts saying that I should just get over it about the polls, I've been stressed out about this contest from the start. I've worked hard, and I think people should actually take note of the trouble it takes me and others just to write something others might enjoy. I write for people - I would never write if I didn't have the ability to share it with others.

...Still, guys, just tell me what it is that I'm doing wrong, and whether or not I should consider even writing anymore. ._.
  6. Peach 00
How come I'm beginning to believe that this statement is completely false?

Maybe I just have the holiday blues, if only I knew why. Some things I hear about just make me depressed - the SSC8 contest got me down because I didn't end up in the polls, and I'd be lucky to even sneak by with honorable mentions. I doubt that's going to even happen, I haven't been all that confident in my writing abilities since that. Besides, writing has come to a complete stop, no motivation whatsoever to complete Danger Close.

Maybe I'm complaining for the sake of complaining...I don't know. Who ever knows those things?

Heh, long list, but all of the musicians there are worth giving a try. Just go look up any of their songs, most of them are pretty good. And, I'd like to see how many people notice that just about 80% of those bands are classic rock or just general music from the 60s' to 80s'.

EDIT: I needed to add all those below BTO. Sorry, but those are too awesome to name. =P

Because I'm simply bored, I'm going to let you people ask me dozens beyond dozens of questions (yes, you can ask more than one in a comment if you care to), and I'll answer them for my own personal entertainment. Despite the fact I despise these types of entries sometimes, I've done it a few times before and decided I'd do it again.

    Well, anyway, shoot.
  9. Peach 00
There is a really good chance I'll be entering, but I'm still trying to get approval from my parents and whatnot. So if I enter, it'll be about a few days/week from now, maybe. But who else is entering the contest? =)

(Side Question: If one person chooses the name of the story I want before me, do I have to change the name of my story?)

I'm going to miss blogging and polling and blogging and polling. Even though I haven't really been polling. Blogging I've done too much of.

So, I decided I'd finally check out the first episode. I only watched about roughly fifteen minutes of it, because I started to skew my attention more towards writing. Anyway, onto my thoughts.

At first, I saw it being more of a feel-goodery type of story, because it being ponies and all the pink colors and whatnot. That aspect I started to pull away from when watching it, but it still keeps it. That may just be because I've only just been introduced into the show, but that's the kind of vibe I first got when watching the beginning.

You can't exactly expect it to be awesome when you first see it, so I wasn't entirely impressed in the first few minutes. The whole evil sister story wasn't exactly the choice of story I would have had, but it's a show for girls around eight years old. So, again, you can't expect it to be great when first watching it. Still, it wasn't like it was stupid right off. It wasn't too bad, but it's not the best cartoon I've ever seen.

When I was a kid, I liked watching shows like The Flinstones and The Jetsons, as well as Cyberchase and Bugs Bunny cartoons (I never saw a lot of them, sadly) because they had a more unique sense of humor than Cartoon Network's cartoons nowadays. Adults could laugh with the kids at some of it because it wasn't stupid cartoons. I found MLP to be similarly amusing to that of old cartoons, but not as good. However, I would prefer it over CN's cartoons any day of the week.

It had an interesting cast of characters. Twilight Sparkle seemed like a bookworm that was well-educated, which none of her friends understood. Of course, friendship is magic (hence the show's name), but things like books and history can be cool in their own way, too. Rainbow Dash wasn't too bad a character, but she seemed to come off as an annoying show-off type of character. Not a bad character, but not my personal favorite, either.

And, I didn't catch the name of the other characters, such as the one with the birds (That's about the time I turned it off because I was paying more attention to writing), and the one that helped Twilight with her hair. Never caught their names - if somebody could give me them, thanks. I'm pretty sure it was Fluttershy that had the birds, not sure who the other pony is...

Still, the characters have strong points and weak points about them. Twilight has an idea of what friendship is, but can't really grasp it with those she knows. Or, that's what it appeared like to me when I watched the beginning. This is kind of a weak point with the character, as well as the stereotype that she does nothing but read books and actually would like to be educated in the finer subjects (in the story). I haven't really seen much of the other (what I consider to be) important characters, so I can't really judge them without either being wrong or right.

With it comes a sense of a fairy tale, because it seems like it will always have a lesson at the end of it. And it seems like that, when you watch it, first thing you're going to assume is that the end is going to have a 'feel-goodery' sense to it because of the name of the show. That obviously comes with the show's name (Friendship is Magic), but you'll assume that it's going to come near the end. Of course, I didn't watch the end (again, busy writing), but I did have a feeling something like that was going to come at one point.

Maybe because it's the first show I get some of these feelings, but it seems like it would probably be carried out through the show's entirety, whether it wasn't supposed to be there or it was.

Now, although I don't feel like it's the best cartoon ever, I was still impressed and entertained by it. It tries to pull away from the same five concepts that have been repeated over and over again. It has a more unique sense to it that I haven't seen cartoons nowadays really have, so it seems good in that way. Of course, it isn't a show I'd watch all the time, but if I wanted to just watch something that I don't watch on a regular basis, I'd probably pick this among a few other shows.

This is the one aspect though: When you watch it, you've got realize that yeah, it is a little girls' show, so you can't expect it to be great. Don't ever have high expectations for anything, otherwise you won't see the good in things. I didn't have huge expectations, but expected it to be like any cartoon would be. I was a little surprised by some of it, but I don't think it's the greatest show ever. It's good, but not the best. But, it definitely comes with it the sense that people should always value friendship, which is probably the best message anything can send.

I've decided I'd have a little fun before my blog went away. For the last day, anybody can submit stories/art/MOCs and I'll be glad to check them out when possible. There are ten slots, and any extras I'll keep track of and try to review when I can.

    Slots:

    1. Xinlo: Spirit of Sonics Topic (COMPLETED)
    2. Inferna Firesword Topic (COMPLETED)
    3. Chi Keeper Cho Voxumo-Chan Topic 1 Topic 2 (AWAITING REVIEW)

    7.
    8.
    9.
    10.

First slot is filled, and nine more to be filled! Remember, anything is welcome, even CoT topics. If all the slots are filled, you can also PM me for a topic link and I will still be willing to review it.

EDIT: Eight slots left now. Remember, there's still plenty of slots, and I will do any comics, stories, art, MOCs that are asked to be reviewed. =)

Figured I'd do one of these before my last (or next to last, depends) blog entry, just to see what the popularity is between the two characters.

I'd take Mario, because Sonic I just dislike intensely. His attitude is just unbearable for me. >_<

(plus: obligatory advertising for my holiday special in the Comedies forum, 'Twelve Days of Christmas' parodied into Bionicle terms)

It’s come to my attention that there is an enormous lack of actual awareness of talent – whether it’s about a writer, artist, comic maker, or even a MOCer. It seems to me BZP doesn’t recognize talent anymore, and doesn’t care for it whatsoever. Although there is no actual way to prove this point, it is true in most cases.

Now, let’s create a hypothetical situation, with a person that joins the site and starts posting stories/art/comics/MOCs. He/she doesn’t get any recognition, even if they went to all the trouble of writing just so people can critique or view the story/art/comic/MOC. Even if they show links in their signatures or on their profiles, they won't get noticed.

Now, what I’m about to say isn’t meant in any offense, but it seems that the community basically follows the popular members. Some of these popular members (not going to name names here) do deserve the credit they’ve been given and the respective reviews, but I think some just aren’t all that talented. There are really popular comic makers whom I’ve seen that just aren’t that good.

However, authors are usually always talented, while some just need the reviews. Some aren’t noticed because they’re basically tossed aside for the more popular people. I’m somewhere in between popular and not really noticed, but leaning more towards unnoticed. None of my stories really get recognition, even though most of the time I write them just so people can view them. My epic that I reposted only has gotten one review since I put it back up, which was from the ECC because I wasn’t getting any reviews. To save my review topic from falling to the bottom of the pages I asked them, and ever since then, I still haven’t gotten a review.

But, this just isn’t about me. Each category falls into the eye of the community, some categories usually having newer and older members getting reviews. Now, this doesn’t apply to Comedies when I mention writers, but the same basic scenario occurs, but sometimes the talent isn’t original. No offense to some people, but that’s just the way I see it.

Nonetheless, I think that the less-noticed talents should be known and people should be aware of these young, talented artists or writers or builders. Everybody deserves their time in the spotlight, even if it isn’t long. And, any little comment makes these people feel good. But even if it is a little comment, still keep it constructive and a little bit of positive and negative so they can improve.

I've been really curious about this recently, but is there any limit to how many stories you can post in the SS forum? This has been bugging me lately, because I've been wanting to re-post stories and wasn't sure how many I could post in one day. I'm not sure if it's anything like the Epics forum with chapters, although I'd think not. Either way, anybody have an answer to this question? =/
  16. Peach 00
Well, I'm pretty sure that this is the last night that I'll have my blog, so I guess I have to have this at one point. Disappointed I didn't get my story up, but still, ask me anything.

And, keep in mind that intellectual questions are also allowed.
  17. Peach 00
Okay, I decided I'd take a look inside the proclaimed 'awesome' forums by so many comic makers alike, and viewed a few of the 'great' comics. I had gone there on the old forums, and looking at them now, they still aren't all that funny. No personal offense to the artists themselves, but I'm going to go on a rant about them and point out what I saw and the flaws.

First, after looking at one artist who will go unnamed, I saw the comics and took a look at the first one. Of course, it was just an introduction to the PGS characters, so it wasn't supposed to be funny, I guess. But I looked at the next few comics, and I still didn't see it all that funny.

So, let me tell you why: There's no wit. Wit. Yes, most of you might have heard of it. When making a comic, short or long, the potential subject should at least carry out a witty form of banter with characters, a subject that can produce interesting discussion between characters, when it might finally lead to a humorous end. Or, at least a similar comic type to that.

So, next, I took at somebody else's comics who is named as a genius among the comic-maker community. After looking, not all that much of a genius. The comics have some funny points, but not laugh out loud funny. I viewed the first five comics and I wasn't impressed.

    ...

Okay, well this wasn't all that long of a rant, but that's a miniaturized version of what I first intended to rant about. But, nonetheless, a rant.

    BRILLIANCE.
  19. Peach 00
So, for the fun of it I decided I'd blog about BZP's new look. There's probably been five other members who did this before me, but eh, I don't care. =P I'm going to weigh in a little bit on the pros and cons, hopefully some people might comment and give some insight, too (which, might I add, is completely welcome). Read below for the review.

    The New Look

Honestly, it's a bit dull - not much life in it. It's just blue and white. We need more flare. Blue and white are overused colors. I'm aware that the staff is going to be getting skins up, if I'm not mistaken, which might be better. But it would be nice if we some red here and their, or a really bright color. I'm not personally attacking the staff's decision with the color choice, but just saying.

    Forums and Their Home

I like that the creative outlet is now its own forum area, with Art, Library, and RPGs and whatnot easy to find. They're all together. That's what it need to be. Before General Discussion was in the middle of it, which seemed out of place. Now it seems much better.

And LEGO sets and Bionicle sets are together, which looks nice instead of it being a 'Non-Bionicle' area at the bottom. To me, the whole area is laid out better.

    Birthdays? People have birthdays?

Yeah, I don't necessarily like that it's a content block at the side. Rather have all the member names at the bottom like it used to be; seems like now there's a list you have to look through in a BZP link. It was easier to read the birthdays off, go wish the people happy birthdays, and move on. Now it's click, click, click typetypetypetype now. I don't consider this a huge issue, but would be better the old way.

    Blogs

I like the layout, but no favorites list at the top? I liked that I could instantly go to my favorite blogs, but now I've got to either search through pages and pages or add them to that list or whatever on an entirely seperate page. I have no clue how to add the blogs there. *shrug*

    Profiles are good, but...

...status? o.O Not sure why that's there, but I don't entirely dislike it. I don't see a huge need for it, but oh well. Either way, I like the profiles now, it's easy to see friends, check your blog, et cetera. It is more organized than before and easier to navigate through, honestly.

    ***

Those are my views, so now for just a list of pros/cons now below.

    Pros

    ~ Yay, organization
    ~ Decent look
~ Forums/Subforums in their right places
~ Profiles look good and organized
~ Comments easier to track on profiles
~ Reply boxes are more fully-equipped
~ No having to worry about codes to put in!
    ~ Instant multiquote
    ~ IT'S BACK

    Cons

    ~ Colors are slightly dull
    ~ Dataclysm repeat, noooo
    ~ How do I favorite blogs? >.>
~ Newest blog entries of blogs I don't view? Eh, might not be too bad...
~ Quick reply should be an open/close box
    ~ Confusing instant PM system

    So in all...

Pros outweigh the cons 9-6, yaaaay. Anybody is welcome to provide their own thoughts on BZP's new system.
