    Barely alive! Mwee! *flop*

    Yeah, senior year has hit me like a ton of bricks. BTW, never try getting hit by a ton of bricks. You tend to break body parts.

    And I've noticed some of you *coughToMcough* have been thinking that my reason for lack of comic output is the new idea I have. Trust me, I haven't even started that yet. The real reason is lack of time and inspiration. You could call it artist's/writer's block, I guess.

    But, I hope to get a new comic up before I die of overlearning.

    If you want a sample of what I'm learning in school, here's what we did in Physics today and yesterday:

    You are given a ramp, a ball bearing (golf ball) and a flat surface. You rest the ramp at an angle so that the edge of the ramp meets the flat surface before the edge, so it looks like this:

    \
    _\_

    __________ <---- Floor

    Now, you roll the ball down the ramp and watch it hit the floor. Without marking where the ball bounces on the ground, you must calculate when the ball will hit the ground and how far away from the edge of the flat surface the ball will land. The answer should be so close that you should be able to place a cup on the ground where it is predicted to land and make the ball land there.

    Have fun.

    Guess it's been a while. I don't think anyone's surprised.

    Here's what has happened since I last posted here:
    I sang at my school's graduation back in May and realized that in one year I'll be walking in front of all those people receiving my diploma. Scary thought. I spent a short two weeks at a mini physics internship. I wish I could have stayed longer, but the college I went to did not have enough funding to take me on for the full summer. My brother, KopakaKurahk, and I have been apart longer than we ever have in our lives. He received an internship and is now across the country studying seismology. I remembered how much I love mowing the lawn. 8D Also, I do have a new idea for a comic, and hope to execute said idea this weekend. Eight hour work days do not give much free time for comic-making.

    Yes, I am alive. 8D

    I'm sorry to those two viewers out there that I haven't been posting here since January. Having stupid fluff classes in college tends to rot your brain since it isn't getting any application to any subjects...and so forth ramble ramble.

    But now the semester draws to a close, and finals are approaching in the next couple weeks. Oh, it'll be a blast, believe me.[/sarcasm]

    Anywho, I have also posted new comicses, believe it or not, since January. My most recent was an April Fools' Day comic. I highly encourage y'all to read it.

    This last weekend was also the first Science Olympiad State competition that I've not attended since 2002. ;.; My old teams didn't qualify for Nationals, but they did do well, and Atako won some firsts. ^^ I really wish I could've been a part of the madness; really, I do.

    And your attention is probably gone, so I bid you adieu.

    It's really amusing to me that everyone is freaking out about this canonization stuff, mainly because this is what happened to me several years ago.

    As someone who ended up disagreeing with new canon information during BIONICLE's initial tenure, let me assure you: the new canon is meaningless. Even if Greg Farshtey says that Toa can transform into gigantic dinosaurs and feast on souls, it would mean absolute bupkis. Why? Because the fun of BIONICLE isn't what's officially created, but what we, the fans, create.

    I have seen beautiful creations on this site in the forms of MOCs, comics, general artwork, movies, stories, and music posted on this site for the past 11 years, and it is far more impressive than just about anything that has come out of the official storyline (although, Time Trap is the best thing Greg ever contributed to the actual canon, and there's no way I can knock it). You want a story where Vo-Matoran, -Toa, and -Turaga are male? Or have no set gender? Go for it. There's a headcanon floating around about a transgender Tamaru, there were comics featuring the only male Ga-Matoran, and there were epics that featured Toa, Matoran, and Turaga of Muffins. Do you think Muffins would ever be canonized as a for reals element? Who cares?! It made for far more interesting plots and ideas than a Toa of the Green who has only ever been hinted at and never seen in action!

    Part of the fun of writing my epics – How I Became Me and The Inventor of Metru Nui (which I hope to work on again at some point, I swears!) – was twisting one part of the canon while leaving the rest be. Trying to get my OC to fit into the BIONICLE universe was fun, and when it was announced that Vo-Matoran are female (and blue, what's with that? If you've played Pokémon, you know that electricity is yellow bar a few minor deviations ), I didn't budge because I didn't have to.

    So have fun making mountains out of molehills, BZbloggers. I'm going to sit over here, lean back, and enjoy my bowl of popcorn whilst I watch the fireworks. Because I'm just that nice a guy. 8D

    It's been a while since I updated this, huh? I absolutely suck at keeping a blog. >>;;

    Anywho, I've been back from my trip for a week, I think. It was great. I saw a bunch of relatives and I ordered the Inika while there. I must say now, Hewkii rules.

    I looked at Dr. B's review of him, and I must say I got different Zamors with Hewkii. I got 2 yellows and 2 orange-red mixes. Same with Nuparu, so I gave Hewkii the yellows, Nuparu the red/orange. They look a lot better. ^^;

    And, yes, Hewkii's mask is awesome as well. The photos don't really do it justice.

    I made a new comic, which I'll display here in case anyone happens to come across this blog who isn't a regular at my comics (but, seeing as no one visits anyway, I don't see how that's possible )

    Many people don't seem to get the joke of why my brother and I would become Matoro if fused. I'm a Toa of Electricity, he's a Toa of Ice, and Matoro has the powers of Ice/Lightning. Thus, I thought it was funny that we'd form Toa Matoro when fused. But, no one gets it. *sigh* Moutekea thought it was pure genius, though. 8D

    I think that's all my ranting today. Hopefully I can update this more often. >>;;

    Well done, Alex Hirsch. Well done.

    The latest Gravity Falls episode was excellent. Totally squashed theories about the author of the journal and, while answering some questions, raised even more. Can't wait for the next episode...

    Hello, BZPeople! I just wanted to drop in and let you know that I'm quite alive and well and have had a wonderful holiday season. I thought I'd give you all a quick rundown of my last month or so after I vanished without a trace.
    Went home and celebrated Christmas with my folks. Got AN AWESOME INSECT COLLECTION from Tekulo; a custom lightsaber, a LEGO coffee mug, and a Knights minifigure set from KK; a portable charger thing from my mom; an Elvis mug/cocoa mix from my aunt; and a gift box from my dad which had a Bazinga shirt and socks, TARDIS/Dalek ice tray (!!), and other miscellaneous nerdy things.
    Spent New Year's with some friends from college, one of whom is having a baby in the extremely near future. (I will soon be an uncle, which is kind of awesome.)
    Went to Walt Disney World for a week with my mom and Tekulo. Magic Kingdom is still my favorite park, Haunted Mansion is still my favorite ride, Space Mountain is still my favorite thrill ride, and Tower of Terror is still awesome. I didn't really enjoy Epcot all that much (though I had fun riding Spaceship Earth after virtually zero wait), and Universal Studios was fine except for the head-jostling the Rockin' Roller Coaster gave me. (I remember it being much more avoidable as a kid...)
    Now I'm back at school doing research. Also, thanks to all who supported Tekulo in his recent blog entry where he came out. It makes me very happy to see that here. Keep being awesome.

    Nothing like a month's wait to post a new blog entry, eh?

    Well that dreaded evil known only as Writer's Block has hit me like a brick wall, as demonstrated previously here. I'd like to get one done by the end of this weekend, but nothing's popping into mind. Eh, it happens, I guess.

    I got my BZPower engraved brick yesterday, and it's really good quality. Special thanks to Binkmeister for holding that fundraiser. ^^ It is now firmly placed in the front of my Pharaoh's Forbidden Ruins set, guarding the beloved temple's entrance.

    Marching band camp at college starts in exactly one week. I'm kinda nervous, indifferent, excited, unsure, and joyful all at the same time. It's weird. I never really expected that college would come so quickly, but it has. It will certainly be interesting.

    And, no, you shall not know where I'm going to school. I like to keep that air of mystery to myself. 8D

    I am also rooming with my brother, KopakaKurahk, in a dorm room, so we don't have to get stuck with someone we'd rather not be around. And, besides, we know how to deal with each others' annoyances better than those of anyone else.

    I've also received Hewkii Mahri, and I must say he's a great improvement to his last year's counterpart. Definitely worth the buy. ^^

    Um, I think that's it for now. I hope to have that comic up soon, should it pop in there.

    I've blogged before about the physics of bouncing a particle like a neutron on a table or other similar surface. Well, someone at the University of Arkansas has made an animation of how the spread of said particle over space evolves in time if it starts out in a "Gaussian wavepacket," which is a fancy way of saying that the neutron starts out looking more like a particle than a wave by being localized in space. The animation is here, while the full page containing the full Quicktime movie is here.

    The red dot is a classical bouncing ball evolving over time (it's pretty boring comparatively). On the left is a plot of the probability of finding the particle at a certain height (the vertical axis) at any given time of the movie. The quantum particle does sort of bounce, become kind of wavy and messy, and then bounces again, but out of phase with the classical ball.

    TL;DR: Cool animation of doing mundane physics with a quantum system with results that are anything but mundane. Click the links to have your mind blown.

    I hate deadlines.

    There's a conference that my adviser wants my lab group to go to in June. Understandable. What's not understandable is that the deadline for abstracts to present at said conference is tomorrow (it was originally Friday, but got bumped back over the weekend). This means, of course, that I have to have enough data to write an amazingly short paragraph about what I'd be presenting at the conference by tomorrow. At 5 p.m.

    Now, I'm not one for stress. As my brothers and roommate can easily tell you, I take it rather easy and do not like to be rushed. This past week has been the exact opposite for me.

    So, I'm slightly burned out, but I have some data that will hopefully be enough to make an abstract with. Huzzah...

    On a more pleasant note, yesterday's Spike episode was good. I love Gummy. And Tank.

    Confound these ponies!

    They drive me to sing.

    I liked the finale, but I kinda wish it were a two-parter. It felt slightly rushed as one episode.

    Also, SONG OVERLOAD.

    Well, it's been a week since I started my course, and it's not too bad... But taking those tests is murder... @@;;

    Anyway, first week of summer break and it hasn't been all too bad. I finally decided to take apart Keetongu and let my brother build Voporak...which means he only built his right leg and I had to build the rest. XP He's quite awesome. For a bulky combiner, he's built very sturdily and completely. In short: I likey. 8D

    Hopefully after we get some schweet pics we'll build the Shadowed One, the last of the '05 combiners we haven't built. We've built most of the previous combiners. I'm not all that sure about the Rahkshi Kaita and Bohrok/Kal Kaita. >>;

    Anywhosit, I hope summer's just as good throughout the weeks. You know how Avak in the Piraka movie puts his Zamor launcher on his own tool? I did that. *grin* It's pretty schweet. Leaves his other hand open for strangling Matoran.

    I can't wait for the Inika to come out. Hewkii has yellow pieces, and I'm gonna take full advantage of it. 8D And he has yellow Zamors. I think it's a dream come true. And I'm gonna get Nuparu, who I believe has orange Zamors. Fun fun. ^^

    Well, that's all I can think of to talk about today. Maybe later I'll talk about things that don't make you sleep. XD

    This week marks the last week of the first half of the semester, which means that my half-semester Optics course is coming to a close. It's been busy (hence my lack of presence), but I almost have one full course under my belt. So far there have been two lessons I gave that could have been better presented, but the students have been fairly engaged and seem more or less okay with the material. I guess we'll see how it goes once the final happens.

    I did try writing a new Equation of the Day, but my schedule has been quite packed. I would like to get that rolling again after the end of the semester, since I greatly enjoy writing those entries.

    Clearly I am the best blogger ever. XD

    I just got an e-mail last night accepting me into one of the graduate schools I've applied to! Akano is on his way to torturing physics students by lecturing them to death on how trumpets work. 8D

    Also, I got the new Pharaoh's Quest 7327 Scorpion Pyramid. While Jake Raines is no Johnny Thunder, I have to say that LEGO having a new Egypt line makes me happy. 8D

    Yep, that's right, every peoples. I graduated from high school on Saturday. I feel so old.

    I'm sure people are wondering, "What's this going to mean for the comics?" Probably not too much, at least not until autumn, because I'm still going to be home until marching band in college starts up.

    And I still have no clue what I want to be when I grow up.

    So, I may have just finished watching all six series of Doctor Who available on Netflix.

    And I'm quite glad I did. Awesome show. David Tennant is best pony Doctor.

    I want a sonic screwdriver.

    I am the worst blogger ever. XD

    Anywhosit, since I last posted it's been at least two months, and in that time, Christmas break drew to a close and I'm now in the middle of my fourth semester at college. Yayz.

    It's amazing how fast college is going. Another two years and I'll be on my last semester. There's a scary thought. What's even scarier is that I was looking at a friend's LEGO magazine today, and it hit me that over a decade has gone by since my most favorite LEGO theme, the Adventurers, first premiered in the LEGO universe.

    What a wonderful year 1998 was for LEGO. Adventurers had come out, and with them the first tan pieces came into existence (Pohatu, you're welcome ), and so had the Hydronauts and the Stingrays, the Insectoids were creeping throughout my bedroom, and the Ninjas were cleverly sneaking through traps and stealing treasures.

    Ten years later, and my how LEGO has changed. But, I've endured this decade as my nostalgia continues to get the better of me in some cases, and I enjoy many of the more recent sets almost as much as I enjoy the old. The same holds true for BIONICLE. There are BIONICLE sets that through the years I didn't like, and there were those I absolutely love (Vorox FTW!). As 2009 begins, I look forward to the ideas LEGO has in store for the remainder of the BIONICLE storyline, a storyline that captivated me since 2001 and has undoubtedly extended my fandom of a childhood toy which I will always cherish.

    Seeing as it is now about 1:30 a.m. in my time zone, I will bid you adieu. Thanks for reading, and if you have free time, check out the new comic I posted in my topic. It's a good 'un!

    For those of you who haven't read my latest comic, four days ago marked Akano's Comics' fourth year anniversary. For any topic on BZPower, that is an amazing feat, and I hope the topic will have a few more years in the running.

    Also, thanks to those who read my new chapter. You can still post in the review topic since topic revival is allowed in the Epics forum so long as your posts are on topic.

    I got back from a concert a couple hours ago, this time our "winter" concert. Yes, we just had a Christmas concert, but we played completely new songs. Our Jazz band, Symphonic band, and Wind Ensemble played at the concert, and it wasn't quite as bad as I thought it would be. I had a numerous amount of solos, and people told me I played them pretty well. ^^;

    Also, new comic up, based on the premier of 24, the most amazing TV show ever! ^^

    I'm also trying to come up with a new comic idea, waiting for that inspiration to smack me in the face. Enjoy it, everyone!

    Well, I figure that since January's coming to a close, I should probably update this thing. Earlier this month, I went to our Science Olympiad scrimmage and helped out by running an event, which was fun. I got to see old friends and had fun watching eggs splatter as they hit the floor. I also have just recently been brushing up on some dollar bill origami, some of which you can see here. My parents bought me a book called "Hawaiian-Style Money Folds" which has some pretty sweet money origami designs. I also found others online.

    Otherwise, things are pretty normal. I have a fairly relaxed semester this time through, but I have a 7:45 a.m. class, which is killing me, for Akano is most certainly not a morning person.

    And with that just said, I got a great inspiration for a new comic. 8D
