    Happy birthday, little bro

    So, today is Tekulo's birthday. Since his birthday also happens to be Valentine's Day, and his job is baking, he's quite busy making pastries and other flour and sugar-based products for happy couples and families. And for himself, by the looks of it.
     
    Happy birthday, Tekky. I hope you have some part of the weekend off to make up for your busy day today.

    Yup, Hallow's Eve has come and gone. I had a blast, and once again dressed as Mario. Expect a comic this weekend about it or something (I hope...). Today we had a marching band concert. It felt really weird to play our music sitting down... Had I been standing up, I could've played so much better. I can't get a good posture in those dang metal chairs...
     
    Anywho, thanks to the divine grace of our team making it to playoffs, marching band season lives on for another week! W00teh! And for my senior year, that's great news. I don't want it to be over yet. I'm so happy. ^^
     
    Ah, when you thought life couldn't get any better...except I have a Jazz Orchestra audition tomorrow. I hope I do well...the piece is kind of hard. >>;

    Happy Halloween!

    I hope everyone had a fun-filled day of costumes and sweets. My roommate and I stocked up on all sorts of candy, and no one showed up. It was sad, but the plus side is that we have enough candy to last through Christmas.
     
    My roommate dressed as Sherlock Holmes, and I dressed as his colleague, Dr. John H. Watson. I had a fun time. 8D

    For those of you who aren't Glenn Beck fans, the title is actually a term of endearment.
     
    The reason for the Glenn Beck inside joke? I was at his Insiders Convention in Akron, Ohio this past Saturday, and I had a great time. I got to shake Glenn's hand, got a picture with him, and he talked with my mom and spoke to my dad on the phone due to some very humorous circumstances. Unfortunately, I did not inherit my mother's socializing genes, so I didn't say much. >>;
     
    Also, it appears my poor Lappy's hard disk drive has kicked the bucket. Fortunately, I backed up all my necessary files onto my desktop computer and I'll be getting a hard drive soon when my dad returns home. Until then, it's me and my desktop.
     
    Also, I am going to finally make a new comic. I have the idea and I'm ready to get started on it right now.

    Tomorrow my roommate (of three years), a fellow physics graduate student, and I are going to watch the three extended Lord of the Rings movies. In a row. In one day.
     
    My roommate has tried this once on another occasion, but we couldn't help but bleed into the next day. Here's hoping that we can manage it this time.

    Haldo, BZPeople!
     
    As you may have noticed, this summer the blogs were highly accented with my extreme absence since I took a trip to the northern UK. The reason for this absence is simple: I was studying for, and subsequently started taking, my preliminary examinations for continuation to my Ph.D. in physics. Last week for me was filled with three four-hour exams: one on Monday (Quantum Mechanics), one on Wednesday (Electromagnetism), and one on Friday (Classical, Special Relativity, and Statistical Mechanics grab bag). I am happy to say that I survived the initial onslaught of my prelims and am now in phase two: a twelve-hour take-home exam to be done over seventy-two hours (10 a.m. today to 10 a.m. Thursday). I have glanced at the problems but not worked on them yet, but I feel pretty good about the quantum section.
     
    In other news, the new school year is set to start in a week, but I have a class starting this Thursday. That'll be quite fun. 8D

    I Caught Some Shinies!

    Over the past week I caught a shiny Remoraid (evolved it and gave it to Tekulo), shiny Octillery, and shiny Clauncher (traded from Tekulo's X version).
     
    I have become a consecutive fishing master! I want to get a shiny Corsola next.
     
    Also, I had a very enjoyable Thanksgiving with my family and our friends. Tomorrow I head back to my apartment, and then Monday is school as usual.

    And it was glorious. I was going to work on my E&M homework, but my body decided to rob me of all focus and initiative. I then ended up in my bed and slept for about three and half hours with no homework progress. Hooray?
     
    Also, I've realized that I haven't finished my Time Cruisers/Twisters reviews, and I kind of want to retake the pictures for them (I have the pictures on my computer of when I first built them and planned to review them, but they're sub par...). Then I'd like to do some more retro (90s) set reviews. I'm thinking of tackling the good ol' Adventurers sets, as I have quite a few of those...

    I made some things

    I made these two images in Mathematica and tidied them up in Photoshop.
     
    They're graphs in the complex plane. The color indicates the phase, or argument, of the complex number, and for this function, curves of equal phase are hyperbolas. To animate it, all I did was let the phase vary linearly in time.

    Another month (or two), another entry. I've been quite distracted from BZPower recently as the college semester draws to a close and finals week is waxing and, finally, waning. I do have some rather nice updates, though, ironically during the time in which I should be studying/working on essays due for my finals. >>;;
     
    My Transformation Part II has been updated with a new chapter, and I highly encourage you read it (since it has not gotten attention for months).
     
    Also, I've updated my comics since the last entry, with Comic 107 being the latest.
     
    In addition to that, my Christmas break begins this weekend, and I'm glad. This weekend looks promising to be really fun, and I hope I can calm down a little after all the stress from finals.

    Yeah, believe it or not, it's snowing here. We have at least a foot of snow and it's still coming down.
     
    I suppose that's not too unusual, at least for where I live. Two years ago a festival we have in the second week of April or so was cancelled due to snow. XD
     
    Weather as usual in my realm.

    I'm in Scotland

    So, I'm currently in Edinburgh, UK for official Hogwarts business doing research with a collaborator at the local university. Things I have done include
    Vaguely losing consciousness on the plane ride over the Atlantic to adjust to new time zone. Would not qualify it as sleeping.
    Instead of checking into the hotel (which didn't allow checkins until 2 p.m. local time), climbing Arthur's Seat to the summit with my advisor like a boss.
    Enjoyed a Guinness. (Not Scottish, I know, but arguably fresher than those sold in the US.)
    Things I have not yet done include
    Tossing a caber.
    Wearing a kilt.
    Playing bagpipes.
    Trying haggis. (Will probably do this at breakfast tomorrow, though.)
    So far so fun. Also I've done research. Totally why I'm here.

    I'm Well Again...

    Over a week later, and I still have this stupid cough.
     
    Not to the extent I had it last week, though.
     
    Not to worry, my friends, the "MOO" Obsesser © is back to pretty good health. Just the occasional series of coughs from time to time.
     
    However, the sad thing is, several people in my school have caught this cough…a lot of them in band.
     
    But, now, onto other things. I really need to make a comic soon. It's been nearly two weeks. But, I'm facing that evil, feared, writer's block. Yup, I need an idea, and I'm sure I have one, it just won't poke its head from its hole in the ground of my mind so I can pluck it up and use it. *sigh*
     
    And, I'm not entering Artwork III Contest 12b. I've just been too busy recently to make an entry, and the theme isn't quite what I like. Maybe next time.
     
    And, my brain is fried, so I can't think of what to say. Until next time,
