This sounds exciting, I like writing and mocing, I'll be up for this!

    Thanks for the interest!

PM me if you want to get involved, or follow the project blog in my signature. We have plenty of open spaces!

    I've followed the blog  :D

Alright, sounds good! I've dropped you a message with the link to the group introduction doc.

  2. This actually sounds pretty nifty.  As an aspiring world-builder and writer, I'd love to have some sort of major, shared project to work on in order to develop those skills.  Rewriting G2 in order to enhance its lore and legends would be a great opportunity for that.

    Let's collab!

Alright! PM me at some point, and we can start whenever you're ready. By the way, I'm digging the Fallout signature.

Best of luck on this project. What kinds of roles do you actually want people to help you with?

Thank you, and to answer your question, anyone who is interested in pitching in with anything. I'm doing this project alone as we speak, and I'm a little too ambitious for it. Editors, MOCcers, storyboard people, anyone at all. I have too many ideas and too little time, and I really think this could bring the community together a little more. So really, if you have something in mind you want to help out with, just message me. I'm not an Overseer, but I want to make sure everything fits into place.

  3. Do you have any baseline idea to where you want to start?

Yes I do. For the first year, I opted to keep the Skull Spiders as the main enemy, but with the story beginning prior to the Toa's arrival on Okoto. The focus will be on the Toa struggling to cooperate and unite against a common enemy, all while trying to find their place in a unfamiliar world. Year One will primarily be used to establish the Okotan mythology and society, and introducing the Toa to the plight of the Great Spirits. The Lord of Skull Spiders will be a much larger foe, the Toa will be more like demigods to the Okotans, and Ekimu will no longer be an islander. Those are probably the more important things that year one will be based of off. I've jotted ideas down on a 21 page saga guide for 2015 that I intended to share with people who wanted to help out. Keep in mind this is just a rough outline, but thank you for showing interest!

  4. Hey folks,

I've had an idea for this project for a while, and I recently decided to act on it. Generation 2, since its end, has been kind of a sore spot for a lot of people in the community. It had its ups and downs, but ended up falling flat. This is what I want to change. I'm proposing a rewrite of Generation 2, without making it a retread of G1.

But, I don't want to do it alone. I was wondering if anyone here would like to collaborate on this project with me. I tried reaching out to a few members here on BZPower, but I figured a post would be easier in case anyone was interested. I'm no professional, but I want to see this project succeed, and be enjoyed. I plan on serializing the story, posting characters on the Tumblr blog (I made it this afternoon, so it is fairly barren right now), and more.

This project is in its early stages, as I only have a rough draft of half of Year One. I will be more than happy to share it with people who want to collaborate with me, but for folks who just want to stay posted on the progress, I have the blog address as https://spiritofokoto.tumblr.com/.

I hope, once the project begins, that y'all will enjoy it as much as I am. I know that this post is very informal, but if you are at all interested, PM me, reply to this, or follow the blog!

  5. I have a theory pertaining to the whole "Umarak being mutated" thing.

What if the mask's power depends on the alignment of the user? When Makuta was still just the Mask Maker, the Mask of Control gave the ability to manipulate matter/mind in a moral way, like avoiding confrontations by using the mask to calm the mind of the target, effectively changing the targets will in a moral way. But when Makuta's disposition changed, the abilities of the Mask changed to allow Makuta to do more sinister things, like making Umarak a more loyal servant after his mutation through the Mask. It's kind of like Makuta manipulating the MoC's power to keep Umarak in check. But that doesn't really explain Umarak's mutation very well, unless it was more biological. Maybe Makuta, using the control power, flooded Umarak's endocrine system, (if BioMecs have those) sending hormones through his body, changing his physical appearance drastically.

    I don't know, just a little theory I had ^_^

    --OOC:--

Tolo is heading to the notice board and is Open For Interaction.

    IC- Ondai

The Glatorian eyed the notice board with curiosity in his glowing eyes. Smuggling was a good job and all, but his sour reputation in Cliffside was enough for the being to consider taking a break for a short period of time. Maybe this mechanic's job would be a good way to get the funds to repair the Bootlegger after that not so good run in with Wasteland dwelling Vorox.

"Hey there", Ondai said to the being at the notice board. "I couldn't help but notice your proposition for mechanics. I've got lots of experience with repairs and miracles. I've got to know about the pay, though. My Rockoh is indisposed, as in filled with sand and a half-way broken engine. It needs to be fixed ASAP."

Hopefully they haven't been to Cliffside. Ondai thought. I could do without a fistfight.

OOC- Newcomer. I've been busy all this week with football practice and school but I really wanted to join. Ondai is open for interaction.

  7. I'm actually in the process of rewriting G2 into a more original story, but given we only have two years of material, 2017 will be difficult. I like the idea of a flashback year, but given the information from JtO, 2017 would have been the Shadow Realm invasion line. Who knows? I would have loved to see a line of shadow Toa :P

The communist life is where it's at, haha.

Welp that rules Metru Nui out then. I'm the biggest anti-communist I've ever met :P

For me, probably Mata Nui, since I live in the South, nature is my thing. I'd love to wander like Takua, or live in the Ta-Wahi beach.

Heck, maybe even Metru Nui minus communism. I'd love to live in Le-Metru, just to see the Test Tracks and Moto Hub, and vacation at the Ga-Metru temples.

  9. My favorite is probably the 2001 Toa Kaita Vs. Manas fight and the 2002 Bahrag fight.

I mean, the Toa combine into big 'ol warrior spirits to destroy these huge Rahi! The Kaita were so cool, and I feel like they could have had a much bigger place in the story and especially in G2. And with the Bahrag, the Toa first find mecha suits to combat two giant dinosaur queens Pacific Rim style, and a really interesting power display occurs. It was so well written and I still love it. I still wish we did get that Bohrok Spider set Christian Faber showed off, and the connection between the Bohrok and the Toa Mata.

  10. May we remember the horrible tragedy that occured because of the violent actions of terrorism. God bless those effected by the attacks, and we remember all the brave soldiers who made the world a safer place one day at a time. And the emergency workers who gave the ultimate sacrifice for the poor people trapped.

    God Bless America.

  11. Picked up a David Allan Coe "Best Of" CD. If anyone's into old outlaw music, give his This Bottle in My Hand and The Ride a listen.

I'm also looking to buy Derek Warfield's Bonnie Blue Flag album but I can't find it anywhere.

If it counts I found a cassette in the house of a local Kentucky rock band called Sweet F.A. If you like 80s/90s Rock I recommend it.

Oh, and a Dion and the Belmonts cassette :P

  12.

Without Greg continuing the original story, I couldn't stay interested. I bought Onua, but that was it.

I've seen a lot of comments expressing wishes that it were a continuation of the old story, but even Greg himself said years ago that if he were in charge of Bionicle's return he wouldn't do it as a continuation due to what a burden ten years of backstory would be for new fans. It's kind of weird to me that so many people who think the Bionicle story was/would be strongest under his direction aren't prepared to take him at his word on that matter.

It kind of reminds me of how Bill Murray and Dan Aykroyd both loved the idea of an all-female Ghostbusters movie and thought the women who were cast were extremely funny and talented, and yet hundreds of Internet dudebros still somehow managed to ramble on and on about how the new Ghostbusters would be lame, unfunny, and disrespectful to the comic genius of the original cast. "Yeah, such-and-such was a brilliant and irreplaceable part of this beloved franchise, but what do they know about what's best for it?"

I don't mean this to equate your ambivalence about Bionicle G2 to the nerd rage of a bunch of cynical whiners. But it's just interesting how often fans of a franchise think extremely highly of its creators, and ignore or dismiss when those creators would rather see a new and different take on it than a continuation of their own previous work.

(Off Topic) Honestly I just really don't like the new Ghostbusters. Leslie Jones is extremely unfunny.

Personally, I liked the idea of a reboot, what with going back to the original tribal setting that made the original 3 years so interesting. But with G2, the world building was just attempted. Sure, we got some locations and flora, but world building took a back seat. I think it would have been nice for Greg Farshety to be even a small part of the reboot. I'm not saying that to be a geewunner(I didn't follow Bionicle at all during G1. I had one or two sets), but if Greg was involved I think it would have had a little more world building done.

  13. Oh, man that Mata Nui website... I love it. It's just so interesting and really an ingenious marketing technique.

I thought that Metru Nui was kinda like Onu Koro. The Toa opened the gates and kinda went to the center of the earth. Man was I wrong.

Oh, I also thought the 2009 poster featured Matoro :P

  14. BIONICLE IS ENDING. But, they better not end without a conclusion. I expect the big bad Makuta set soon.

Buddy, we've got a lot of evidence that Bionicle is doing fairly well. Come on, man. It's fine if you don't like it, but this topic has dissolved into a troll topic. Let's just end it, fellas.

  15. Actually, it is confirmed for next year, Lychir. It takes a little bit of time to actually cancel a theme(like how G1 was decided to end in 2008/2009), as it takes about 2 years. So, if G2 was decided to be cancelled, it would have been proposed 2015, which is impossible. G2 is confirmed for 2017, and beyond that is to be decided. Personally I think that Bionicle will go into 2018, maybe even beyond. But being overly negative isn't good. Europe has a lot of good Bionicle sales, and the sales in the Unites States can easily get better.

  16. Honestly I wanted the new magazine to come to the United States, but as y'all already said, the comics aren't selling well. While they aren't illusive, they aren't as popular as I wish they were. But the sales of the graphic novels don't speak for the line itself. Bionicle is back, and the line is getting better and better each year. If you don't like it, that's alright, it's not for everybody.

So, can we shut this topic down?
