  1. I dunno about you but I like this set. Yes, he isn't as solid as his 2015 form, though he's still fairly decent. One of the main reasons I find him appealing is that something about the style of his shoulder armor and the certain colors he uses give him a barbaric- wastelander vibe which works for Pohatu. I also really like his staff, something about it just fits for this type of character and I can just envision posing him with it held above his head, letting out a battle cry. I do think that the lower arms have a tad to much trans neon green, which is a little off putting in my opinion.

  2. Cryptozoology is quite a fascinating topic to talk about. One of my favorites is the Thylacine of Tasmanian Wolf/Tiger which DID exist, though at the turn of the 19th century, irrational fear from European settlers in Australia killed it off (even though hunting dogs were the ones who were mainly killing their sheep). Its kind of a shame because they were fairly shy animals and it is rumored that when the last one in 1936 at the Hobart Zoo, it wasn't honored or mourned at all, they just threw the body in the garbage. Though there have been reported sightings which is great!

  3. 2001 would have been better if the sets had more articulation

2002 would have been better if Galis mask didn't look like a cow

2003 would have been better if the Bohrok kal weren't rehashed

2004 would have been better if I had gotten into BIONICLE at that awesome year

2005 would have been better if the Hordika weren't so gappy

2006 would have been better if I had managed to complete my first set, Brutaka. Also if they had gotten rid of the stupid Piraka rap

2007 would have been better if there were Matoran for the 6 main elements, The sets had different eye colors, and Hewkii had some more armor and less silver.

2008 would have been better if Gali didn't look like an bunny eared goblin and Pohatu wasn't orange

2009 would have been better if TLR was better and Mata Nui's set had gold

2010 would have been better if we had gotten at least the Baterra... and the Elemental lords, and the trilogy that Greg mentioned

2011-2014 would have been better if the serials had been continues

2015 would have been better if the Protectors had names and there were collectable mask packs

  4. One upon a time in the land of Duloc, it was Christmas of 2006 and my uncle gave me my first BIONICLE set, Brutaka. I didn't know anything about the story and who this character was, but I still build a majority of him. The rest I never finished, and a majority of his parts disappeared (even his awesome gold Olmak :(). A year later I received the Po-Matoran, Dekar, and I manage to complete him and got somewhat into the story.

  5. I remember being at several Toys R Us's and finding some old sets in 2011, one had several Agori (Berix, Zesk, and Tarduk), Kiina, Ackar, and Axalara T9. The other had a bunch of Stronius sets. I also remember some of the Stars being sold at a third Toys R Us until 2012, and a Borders in 2010 which had Jetrax T6 and Rockoh T3 (got it for Christmas :P).

  6. Though I personally wasn't that big a fan of the story and character development did feel scarce at times, the sets were what really got me into it, especially my favorite year 2012. The CCBS system introduced with the theme in 2011 was also another plus because it challenged MOC makers like myself to create unique robots, creatures, etc of all different shapes and sizes.

  7. In terms of plot and character interaction, Po-Koro definitely sticks out, we get to see and experience a physical threat that is harming the Matoran and we get to talk to a lot of the villagers regarding the issues.

However, in terms of overall appearance and spirit, I really enjoyed Le-Koro. The lush colors and beautiful scenery are eye popping and getting to see and hear the band was just wonderful and made you feel accomplished after having dealt with the Rama.

  8. Set: The Tohun.. ahem, the Mctoran and the Matoran of Metru Nui. I liked the Mctoran for their eclectic and eye catching color schemes and collectability, while the Metrutoran offered tons of articulation and had cool melded masks.

Character: The Matoran from Mata Nui were very memorable for me, my favorites having to be Hafu and Taipu. Hafu because the way he boasts about his artwork is strangely comical and Taipu because of how enthusiastic he is.

  9. Vocal Wise: Its a bit of a tough decision, though the three I most enjoyed listening to were Ride by Presence, Hero, and Closer to the Truth

Instrumental wise: a lot of the tracks used in the first three movies were incredibly well done and captured the overall tone for each movie, though my favorites would have to be Night flight (WoS), the time theme (LoMN), and the Matoran song (MoL)

From MNOG, I loved chroniclers company and Plague in Po-Koro is perhaps the best of the Koro themes since it just screams desert.

  10. 1. Pohatu. He borrows greatly from his environment, what with the bones on his arm and the sulfur like transparent bones. I also find his barebones look understandable, since it makes him look more aerodynamic which is fitting since he is known for running.

    2. Onua. He has fitting proportions that emphasize his strength, the colr scheme while odd is still spread consistently throughout the set and looks fairly nice. His build and design is involved and his hammer is ingenious.

    3. Lewa. Once again, much like Pohatu, Lewa borrows heavily from his environment with his lush color scheme of bright green and yellow. This is also apparent in his physique with the lanky, monkey like arms and the two blades on his shoulders, which seem reminiscent of a fur pelt in my opinion. The only problems I have with him are that the mask doesn't have much of a Miru esq appearance and the weapons look awkward.

    4. Kopaka. While he does have a solid, finished design and a good color scheme, the gigantic shoulder pads look out of place for Kopaka. I always considered him to have a more sleek, mysterious, and ninja like physique. The stickers on his thighs are utterly pointless and don't add any thing to his overall look.

    5. Tahu. Boring. While he does borrow some design elements from his original, his overall design in general doesn't interest me for some reason.

    6. Gali. Decent color scheme and feminine to a point, but there is nothing special about her other than the fact that her trident can be turned into flippers. The bulky shoulder pads look awkward on an almost sleekly designed set and the trident is way to oversized for a Toa .

  11. Personally, I have to say that 2004 was my favorite year for BIONICLE both set wise and story wise. The year brought us Toa with an ideal balance between possibility, and playability within the fluent gear function/duel featured weapons. Not to mention that they also looked aesthetically pleasing, what with their unique weapons, masks and overall design. The Vahki had some very cool gimmicks, though the Titans were probably one of the major highlights from this year (aside from the Toa Metru), offering innovative and unique builds that really make them stand out amongst the other Titans released prior and in the future (somewhat). The story was intriguing as well, offering a very emotional journey of 6 Matoran struggling to fight against the anonymous force that was destroying their culture, with the little time that was available. The characters had very unique and differing personalities from the norm. So overall, 2004 was a very solid year from my perspective.
