  1. Last minute entry for the Legend Continues contest. Tahu is inspired by some of the concept art in the Bionicle Art book, mostly in the addition of some silver armor with a hunting spear and boots(?, don't really know what those are in the book, but I like em) along with his more traditional gear. The creature Ikir is based on the concept that transforms him into a fiery greatsword.

While he doesn't strike me as good as his Master form I have to say that Lewa is pretty good. I'd go as far to say that he's one of the best Toa of this wave. Of course his rather dull colors are disappointing, but his overall aerodynamic look is great. The leg build might be the best custom limb which is nice. Not to mention his combination is magnificent in every way.

On the tonfas. I'm not really a fan of them. I'm fine (but not ecstatic) about the tonfa weapon itself, but I don't like it here in terms of both looks and playability. The way he holds them often looks awkward and I already dread constantly posing the rotating blade. I'm probably going to change them for another weapon.

  3. Great review, although it did leave me with a few questions. Could you clarify what your definition of busy is? You say that it's possible Ketar is "busy" due to its CCBS nature but really it's the exposed Technic portion that strikes me as busy. Unless of course you're referring to posing and the many joints. Either way I would have liked for that to be explained a bit more.

Onto the set: I'm already warming up to this little guy. He really stands out from the rest of the creatures. All of his other pals easily resemble real animals, it's not difficult to imagine them as such. Thanks to his sword arms Ketar stands out as some kind of fantasy mechanical scorpion, his structure is so alien that it works. While I'm on the swords I'd like to mention that Ketar uses the crystal addon the best. By combining it with the sword the part really puts it's transitional nature to its best use. It actually looks like it's integrated into Ketar unlike its usual slapped on look on other sets.

Now I'm not a fan of how exposed the Technic portion is on Ketar. It's distracting and ugly to honest. Some cover on the Glatorian necks or the front would have been greatly appreciated. The gappiness and awkwardness of that area wrecks the look of set. Not to mention the potentially good function is plaqued by a lack of friction. Not much to say about the tail since it's just a trigger, but it doesn't look very good. I kinda wish they continued with the alien design and replaced the stinger with some kind of non-functional blaster or sensor. Heck a wrecking ball would have been awesome.

The colors surprisingly work well, although I think the Dark Tan Vorox armor should have been replaced with silver.

Now while the intention was great, the execution is lackluster. Overall Ketar wins me by his unique and derpy charm. I approve of different and even weird designs like Ketar in the future. I just hope next time the designers have more luck in making their ideas look better.

  4. Akida's large amount of Technic doesn't bother me, what does bother me is its overall look. The body is a little awkward with everything exposed, I'm all for Technic integration but I think Akida needs a shell or Technic panel to cover it up. Luckily I have two small blue aerodynamic Technic panels (boy do I hope they return) I think could look nice on Akida.

The propeller miniguns interupt the flow of the set, but a few little mods should be able to fix it. I like the weapons themselves and especially how they look when combined on Gali.

Overall Akida is probably my next favorite creature after Uxar, I definitely look forward to picking the set up and toying with the design.

  5. Again, another great an in-depth review. Onua was and still is my favorite of the larger Toa. He's a little skinny for my tastes but I'm sure its nothing a little modding can't fix. Him and Terak are definate buys for me.

Still would like to see how that golden technic shell looks with armor addons attached, but otherwise every question I had about Onua has been answered. Thanks for the review.

  6. After seeing BonkersforBonkles' Relay Swimmer, I've been wanting to make a diving suit protector, but looks like you beat me to it. And you made it much cooler than I could. :D

The inspiration is plain from the design, and I really like the colors. It really looks like a heavy gold suit around a Protector. Great MOC, you earned yourself another follower.

Thank you! I'd like to see other diving suit protectors as well  :)

The Big Daddy is such an awesome character design, and your take on a Protector version of it is really capturing it well.

I love the cage a lot. You nailed that.

I'm also not a huge fan of the tires, though (generally never have been). The bones really would have been too thin alone, but the tires didn't help that much. Some other armor might have been better.

Overall though, I like what you've got here.

    ~|ET|~

Yeah I'm not to satisfied with the tire solution, but due to part restrictions and those glorious trans blue bones I decided to go with it. Maybe ill change it in future versions.

This looks really cool. I don't even play the Bioshock games and never have. Still recognized this for what it was. Not sure about the masks on his butt and back.

Looking at them from the back directly is a bit awkward, but from the the side those masks make the body more rounded.

It looks awesome! Definitly feels like a big daddy from Bioshock :)

    Thanks!  :D

  7. First off, thanks for all the replies

I like the front head cage thing, as well as the usage of parts.

Thanks, the cage took 3 tries but it was worth it.

I'm not a fan of the two tires on the legs but other than that, it's pretty cool looking.

You see, the rest of the body was so huge that those bones looked to thin. I see what you're talking about though.

This should be a set! I have no idea what Bioshock is but this is cool! 5/5 would buy in TRU. The only thing I would change would be bigger feet.

Thanks! Bioshock was a game about an underwater city that goes crazy, and this creation is based off one of the most iconic characters in the game; Big Daddy

I love the face-cage, and the colors are done really well. The Protector mask doesn't look much like a Big Daddy, however disregarding that, it works nicely.

Originally, I was going to put more yellow lights on the cage to make it look more like Big Daddy's head. I didn't really like the way it looked so I just kept the bottom 2.

I love this, it is really awesome.

I wish I had any building skills whatsoever but I do not.

Don't give up on yourself! You gotta believe! (I know it sounds like something on a cat poster, but its true)

  8. Had this idea ever since I got the protector of water. Haven't yet thought of a name yet. Basically I wanted people to sea a protector that looked like a Big Daddy from the Bioshock games. Hope he makes ya bubble with ADAM-induced glee!

(sorry for all the bad puns and references, I'm really trying okay?)

I don't like how they're all the same.

You mean the scripts, or the voices?

I actually don't mind the scripts being the same. It makes it feel like a sort of a mantra or a message of solidarity. And I think the voices are different enough to feel unique, though I know some other people don't feel that way.

My only real problem is Gail's man-voice and Lewa's voice. While their dialogue was written in character, their voices don't even sound like those toa. I mean even Lewa's body language shows a completely different take on the character then his monotone voice.
