  1. Honestly the best place to get stuff printed is on shape way its self.

I sent you a link to the files if you lose them just contact me.

Here is the mask on shapeways.

    625x465_15666381_9220640_1473560918.jpg

    I will look into it.

Thank you, I have saved the files to my computer.

The mask looks amazing sir.  Is that the estimated cost on Shapeways or (more likely) just a default number?

Thanks again for the mask and feel free to sell it if someone else shows interest.

  2. Just letting you know that the "Mask of Particle Beam Travel" has won the contest.

Cool, is there anything I need to do now?  I know you said you would send the files to the winner and wouldn't print them, but I don't think I will have excess to a 3D printer for a while; I have no problem with you selling it on Shapeways and think it would benefit us both to have you put it on there.

So if you would like to put it on Shapeways, you have my consent; if you still rather send me the file, I would be happy to have it and will print it when the opportunity arrives.

Thanks again for hosting the contest tourmalinex, I really enjoyed the challenge of coming up with this mask.  I look forward to any future contests and hope we can get more people to enter them in the future.

  3. Why hasn't this got more attention?  Your previous LOTR MOCs are incredible and this one is no exception.  I am really liking how you Incorporated constraction pieces to give it a more organic look.  I think the only thing that bothers me with the build is the lower legs/feet, they are a little long and stubby/blocky IMO.

Incredible MOC with very creative parts use and an over all look that captures the aesthetic of the creature extremely well.  Keep building my friend, you are a great inspiration to many.

  4.

Sounds interesting.  Are you guys going to make "sets" to go along with the story as well?  Either way, I look forward to it.

    That'll be a part of it :)

This seems interesting. Not usually the type for fan stories, but this one catches my eye so far.

Will you be posting separate topics or will everything be posted here in this topic?

I think so, but hopefully there will be a centralized place where everything gets updated first ;)

    Can't wait to see them.

  5.

I can't submit my Makuta entry and this is the last day to enter.

It's stuck on "submitting" and isn't doing anything. Anyone else having this issue?

Actually, a lot of people are having this problem.  Make sure your photos are smaller than 2MB and you have no more than three tags, if you continue to have problems email Rebrick@lego.com.  Hope this helps and you can get your entry in, good luck.

    Ah, it's worked now. Thanks!

No problem, glad I could help. :)

  7. Version 2 has been added (I decided to just update this topic rather than make a new one).  Thanks for all the feedback guys, I believe the fixes really improve the model.

Unfortunately, I will not be switching out the colors for trans. purple, before the contest end date, because of the time required and difficulty of that task.

  8. Interesting interview.  I believe he has done a great job targeting the themes to the younger audience, unfortunately this has alienated some of there older target audience.

I believe that the whole "cartoon" approach to the current themes, are what killed them for the older fans.  I actually really like the concept of Nexo Knights but the execution of the theme falls short.

After asking my younger brother (who is in the target range) what he thinks, he told me that he finds the Ninjago and Nexo Knights heroes to be over powered and the main villains to be uninteresting with a few exceptions like Garmadon and Morro.  He never got into Chima because it didn't appeal to him.  He currently only has interest in Star Wars, Marval, and Dimensions, the first two are both licensed themes with serious storys and the the third is a video game which I believe falls under a different field of play.

To sum up, I think a more serious approach to themes would be more beneficial to LEGO, but this is may just be my opinion.

  9. Yeah I was talking about the printing, not sure what chest print would best fit this MOC anyways.  Maybe Skull Slicer's?  I don't think it looks bad, there just isn't any more of the color for balance except the axle-pins.

I think the arms look okay, it's just the hands that I thought looked a bit thin.  After thinking about it, it works if you are going for a skeletal look.

All and all, I think your model is well thought out.

  10. This is really cool; the details are stunning!  The mix of g1 and g2 parts are blended very well together and can be explained by the alternate universe idea (quite genius).  The colors actually work surprisingly well together, IMO, the only thing that may stand out to much may be the blue on the chest plate.  The hands look like they could use some armor, but this is probably more a preference than a problem.  The anvil could be a bigger on the top I think.  And then there's the background story...Incredible, the detailed writing was very captivating.

I wish you luck in the contest.

  11. I can't find anything on it. I tried looking the other day when I first saw this topic, but I couldn't find anything. Must have been one of those really small, minor contests, otherwise someone would have mentioned it. I do remember some magazines in the past having a section for "featured creations," so it's possible that they did a themed one where any handful of MOCs relating to the Breakout theme were featured, but I could be wrong.

As has been said before, Google is of no help. Not sure what to tell ya.

LEGO Club Magazine would have a contest in just about every other issue but I have no idea how many people actually participated in them.

This is an example of how the winners would have been shown in the magazine.

The search to find an example was very difficult, this makes me wounder if info on these kind of contests are just not on the internet.

Thank you for taking time to look, I really appreciate it.

  12.

Wow, this got a lot of negative feedback...sorry guys.  I personally thought it was inspiring to see that the Bionicle community is capable of making sets.  We had a bunch of people figuring out the build, we had a couple people design the mask and put them on shapeways, and now we have someone who made the box art.  We potentially made the set ourselves and if we can do that, imagine what else we could do.  Again, I am sorry for any unwanted feelings I may have aroused.

The negative feedback isn't for you, the box looks magnificent and I thank you very much for posting it. It is greatly appreciated  :)

The negative feedback is for LEGO because they cancelled Bionicle and broke our hearts. We all would so love to see something like this in stores  :crying:

Okay, thank you for clarifying, it makes me feel a bit better. :)

Agreed, don't understand why they* didn't want to sell what could very well be their best selling Bionicle set. :shrugs:

*They meaning LEGO management not the designers who would of probably loved to release the set.

  13. Minimizing the window and then dragging the corners does not solve the issue for me. In fact, when dragging the corners, the content in the window resizes, but the hidden portion just isn't there.

I have never heard of someone having that problem with LDD, now I see why it was necessary for you to change the parameters/code.  Very interesting.

I am sure if someone runs into the same issue, the information you provide here is invaluable.

  15. This is a very cool idea.

Did you try colorize for the white and black recolors?  That may be an option.

There are some transparency issues with Kopaka's mask that cause some parts of the mask not to be edited, making it appear brighter than it should.  After fixing those issues, using hue saturation, placing the the brightness at zero and maxing out the contrast seems to get you pretty close.

This render of Onua's mask has low amounts of reflection which makes getting the desired color near impossible to obtain.

  16. I only faintly remember something around the lines of this. Faintly. By that, I mean hardly at all. It almost sounds like they bailed out on the contest idea close to the last minute. Unfortunately I never paid attention to the HF contests so I mostly skimmed through them.

I've never thrown away a single Lego Club magazine... however, those that I own have all gone to the scattered corners of my garage, so I can't even begin to say where I might be able to find anything. I found a magazine advertising the Hordika just a few days ago in my garage, but that was by accident. So seeing as I barely even remember such a contest nor do I think I can find much information about it, I may not be of much help to you.

I don't think there was a big headline to advertise the contest, so if you knew about it, I understand why it would hard to remember.  They went through with the contest but never showed the winners.  I personally believe that they had so much for the issue it would have been in, they just decided to leave it out (plus they had to show the results for the Avengers contest, priorities).

I think I also still have all the issues I received and like you, they are currently unattainable in the garage.  I really appreciate you taking the time to think about it and recall anything, thank you.

Do you remember what issue is? I was looking at some old ones the other day.

I believe it was the May-June 2012 issue with the Avengers on the cover.
