Okay, remember what I was saying about not buying any 2009 sets? Well, I may have changed my mind.

» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «You see, apparently Vorox (in all his tan glory) has a Toa Mata foot on his back. IN TAN. Now, repeat after me: MAHA MOC. I'm not sure yet, but that might sway me into buying him. Whether or not this'll happen remains to be seen.

So I heard they were finally televising Digimon Data Squad. (Yes, I like Digimon. GET OVER IT.) They put it on Channel 7 at 6:30 AM today. So I went to watch it. Instead, I ended up watching fifteen minutes of some ridiculously rich black guy going on about how the economic recession is little more than media scare tactics. It was then that Lai doublechecked the TV guide, which said that Data Squad is on everywhere EXCEPT Canberra.

    Why, 7, why?! D=

Very VERY angry. I WAS going to do some kind of 300 spoof here, this being the 300th entry and all, but I'm far too angry for that. That, and I can't find or make a picture that works for my purposes.

    Don't ask why.

    also entry 300 yayz

OK, people, sorry that I haven't been on recently. At least, now, the blog will be updated regularly.

On a sadder note, my good friend Dreiken will be leaving BZP for at least a few months (At most, his whole life). He will (or more specifically, his comics) will be missed.

I have been working on my epic during my absence, and have titled the series "The Dlakii Chronicles". It will also cover another upcoming comic series, Light. Now, as a present to all my readers, I give you a segment from the first chapter of The Dlakii Chronicles. It's also got a lot to do with Dreiken.

“Why do I always have to set up base camp?” Thekoo complained. “Why doesn’t Dreiken help? I just don’t get it.”

Thekoo was kneeling down, setting up a yellow tent. The burning sun reflected off his gold-and-teal armour. He was hammering down a tent peg with his gold sword. He was so lost in his vaguely contemptuous thoughts that it took him ten seconds to notice that he had just hammered his finger into the ground.

“OW! OWOWOWOWOWOWOWOWOWOWOWOWOWOWOWOWOWOWOWOWOWOWOW!” Thekoo screamed! “OW! OW! OW!”

“Would you keep it down, Thekoo?” A voice came from inside the tent.

“What’s so important that you’re doing in there, Dreiken?” Thekoo asked.

“I’m trying to figure out where we are,” Dreiken replied, sticking his head out of the tent. “This area isn’t in any atlas.”

“Isn’t it obvious, Dreik?” Thekoo asked. “We’re in the middle of nowhere, on the Mainland.”

“Oh, no, we’ve already passed Nowhere. That was the desert we saw, a kio or so back.”

“Ha-ha, very funny, Dreik. Why are we here, anyway?”

“It was YOUR suggestion. It was YOU, Thekoo, that wanted to go around training.”

“Well then, why didn’t I go back to iKKF’s Dojo?”

“Quiet, I think I’ve got it. Let’s see… south of the Nowhere Desert… um….” Dreiken muttered. “Hold on, I’ve got it! Thekoo, did you see any signs saying, ‘Private Property’?”

    “Um, no.”

“Which means that I know where we are on the map,” stated Dreiken, with a very small amount of superiority lurking in his voice.

    “Where?”

“Between the Nowhere Desert and some land belonging to an old guy so weird that he hires killer cops to keep intruders off his property.”

“Why do I bother?” Thekoo wailed.

    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

And there you have it. The epic is coming soon!

I've finally seen an English dub of Island of Lost Digimon, after being stuck with the Japanese version for years. (I didn't understand that version, but it's pretty freaking awesome anyway.)

YAY THEY DIDN'T SCREW IT UP. YAAAAAAAAAAAAAY THEY DIDN'T SCREW UP BEARMON'S, KOTEMON'S, DINOHUMON'S OR GRIZZMON'S DUB VOICES.

And, based on what little I know of what really happened in the Japanese version (), they didn't screw up the plot at all. =D

If I was to buy only one LEGO set next year, it would undoubtedly be this work of art. As it is, I don't really like the look of Bionicle 2009, so that'll probably be the case anyway.
  7. Turaga Dlakii
I bought him today. And I'm reasonably impressed. Here's why. Obviously.

His shield is good. It's a pretty neat design, making good use of the old Hordika arm. Though it's not the nicest-looking of parts, it can be easily hidden behind the shield.

His legs are of a great design. I never thought the Visorak-foot thing would work, but it did. And of course, the joints are ingenious, fulfilling what was attempted on Ultimate Dume in 2004. (Now, I am the master.... ) The claws work well, too.

The wings are attached nicely too; haven't seen that before. Simple but effective. WATCH N LERN VAMPRAH!!

The downside? Everything else. From the waist up, he's just too unarmoured. His legs are nicely kitted out and protected, but everything else is too thin and unarmed. No wonder Ignika owned him. () ToM had the right idea with the spike shoulder armour (see this entry in his blog). The other main issue is his green eyes. He needs orange, to uniformify with the others. Was it too hard to reforge that eye style in orange?

Those issues aside, I still like.

I mean it. This next entry is quite sick. If you don't like the idea of big dogs using corridors as toilets, turn back NOW.

Anyway, it happened yesterday. I was sitting in front of the TV, watching Hey Hey: By Request, while playing with my Piraka and Doomtoran, when I heard a weird noise coming from the corridor, then saw Dougal (dog, not Matoran) wander out. I looked in the corridor, and saw a big wet patch. Need I say more? I spent an hour going through paper towels, mopping it up. Fortunately, Mum didn't go beserk because of it.

In other news, Lai and I have seen the Toa Inika and Umbra in a K-Mart catalogue, and we could be heading there on Friday!

Now we've got more decent pictures of the '09 sets, again I'll critique. I'll randomly pick out stuff I want to comment on, rather than doing as I did earlier. Unsurprisingly, spoilers abound.

» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «Firstly, my revised opinions on the small sets. Some of the recoloured parts are of sheer WIN, but others (and the recycled parts) are kind of off-putting. What I quite like the look of, though, are the faces/masks/helmets; one of Atakus's in green would be perfect for a Nidhiki revamp, and most of the others (particularly Raanu's) look awesome. Berix's is just plain weird, though. By the way, Zesk looks win, and is excellently posed.
As for the Glatorian themselves, my opinions are mixed. For one, I'm glad that the Zamor never came to be, and it looks like these new launchers can be built, to some extent. That's something. Now, I'll do this one-by-one.
Skrall has lost any appeal he ever had to me; he looks just plain weird. While on the subject, I swear I've heard the name "Skrall" somewhere before... Malum's claws are not as awesome as they originally appeared, and it's a pity they didn't fix the Kalmah-foot-shoulder issue; it was still done failingly. Gresh, well... his prototypical version was SO much better. We just lost a whole heap of recolours, and now he simply fails. Tarix looks... okay, to say the least. His blades are awesome. Strakk is pretty good, but his shoulder armour stuff is attached funnily, like Malum's, except not as dodgy. It's not so bad, but still odd. Vorox is absolutely full of WIN. Do I see a bit of brown on him? As for the titans, they still both look like clumsily designed EPIC FAIL.

    Discuss.

YES, I'm almost never here nowadays. I'm just having too much fun with school, and the need to spend several hours on BZP has diminished epically. But before you ask, I have no intention of properly leaving. And because I intend to finish the Saga before even considering such a thing, you lot will never get rid of me.

    ...

    let's break up the monotony

  11. Turaga Dlakii
Boy, stone characters have had it rough, and that's an understatement. One minute, they're a nice Metru-brown, the next they've been turned into some random shiny brown colour found only in two sets in the entire history of LEGO, then they're Keetorange for a year and a half, then orange, and finally Mata-yellow. Not only is the indecision irritating, it also pans out badly for us MOCists.

Why am I stating the obvious? You see, I've been fiddling with this really awesome leg design I made (almost entirely custom), and I've been working to adapt it to a Toa Dlakii design. I've been doing quite well with it, but upon designing the torso, I hit a slipup. There were nowhere near enough Keetorange to make a decent torso design; what I have is horrendously blocky and is interspersed with too much black.

So, why can't LEGO pick one colour for something and stick with it? I'd have been relatively happy with Keetorange - sure, not as happy as if the old brown still remained, but that's a different story.

On a slightly related note, why is it so hard to uniformify purple?

Welcome to my blog, a land of... I don't know, probably boredom.

Here is where you'll find out what a comic maker does when he is not forcing himself to make the latest issue of The Unknown Turaga: Land of Dragons or The Newsroom. You might also learn a bit of Japanese and time zones while you're at it.

It's time that I finally got the wheels of The Unknown Turaga: The Movie grinding!

Anyway, I've pretty much got the script for the beginning sorted, and I'll now begin the long and arduous process of casting.

If you wish to express interest in voicing a character in the film, post it here. I'll consider all candidates, but you're more likely to get the part if:

    1) You've posted at least twice in any of my comic topics (not counting those which I've co-authored on)
    2) You happen to be someone whose work I've seen previously, such as SPIRIT or Phyoohrii (whoa... nearly screwed up the spelling)
    3) You have a microphone. Seriously, do you really think I'll hire you if you don't have a microphone? That's why Lai is going to voice Dreiken.

I'll post a list of roles to be filled eventually. I just need Phy to get back to me about that role offer I sent via PM...

Oh yes, and PLEASE BE SERIOUS ABOUT THIS. I've been planning this for years, and now that I'm finally making progress with it, I don't want it screwed up, nor do I want you lot to spam up this entry.

    Ittttttttttt's plug-time, kids!

    *crowd cheering*

So, yeah. I've got things to plug now. Firstly, the New Comic Emporium. I've done the 87th Newsroom, so therefore, you lot are obliged to post there NOW (unless you happen to be Xaeraz). If either DudeNuva or Aoran are reading this, feel free to make a comic or something, now that those two scheduled comics are out of the way.

...Okay, you're not really obliged, but it would be nice of you.

Secondly, someone go to the MOCkery and post, PLEASE? It's dying again, and I'd rather someone post before I add something else.

...Egotistical, you say? Where'd that idea come from?
