    ...I have.

Some friends and I flipped a classroom upside down the other day. The posters on the walls, the assignments on the board, the clock, the globe, all the desks.... everything.

It was, for lack of a better word, awesome.

In other news, Skyward Sword. How've y'all been?

Today is Leap Day: that is, February 29th, a day that only comes around every four years. Yay!

However, in my little corner of the world (aka Canada), today is also Anti-Bullying Day! Everyone wears a pink shirt as a small way of saying that bullying is not okay. Now only at school, but everywhere.

Being me, though, and not being inclined to take the easy route, I went all out. Pink pants, pink dress shirt, pink tie, pink scarf... it was a lot of fun, and a great way to remind people that bullying is definitely not cool.

I may upload a pic later, just because it was so great (but I'll be sure to scrub out my face because this is the internetz).

In other news, continue suggesting names, and the voting will begin tomorrow!

The BZPRPG really brings out my best writing. I've finally found my inspiration after not writing any BIONICLE-related for almost a year (my last short story was posted on December 31, 2009). After being bored by my various attempts at BIONICLE fan-fiction, I'm now writing stuff that I'm actually proud of.

So, if you're a writer, I recommend joining the BZPRPG, or another RPG. It really helps me write; both in terms of inspiration and improving my writing. I've found, for example, that playing three different characters helps me develop individual voices; something that I've struggled with occasionally.

I'm not writing this because we need more players, and I'm not writing this in order to shamelessly advertise the RPG forum. This is just an honest recommendation to the authors of BZPower, many of whom I am acquainted with. If you want to improve your writing, give some thought to joining an RPG.

I have two new short stories; the first I have written since 2009. I would love to get some reviews, and so I'm open to some review exchanges.

You review Kings and Queens or Caerus Valli, and I will review one of your short stories, epic chapters, comedy chapters, etc.

Maybe I can even review a MOC or a piece of artwork if that's what you want. Just post here to start the madness.

    ...you probably saw this coming.

And yes it would have been nice to do another big poll like last time but I decided to do one name change for myself before I make it a big affair so yeah. Next time.

And yes I almost went with Justin Bieber again. Belieber would've been nice though...

Xenoblade Chronicles is slated for an April 2012 release in North America.

For those of you who are confused, Xenoblade Chronicles is a Japanese RPG that was released in Japan in 2010, and in Europe and Australia mid-2011. Despite receiving critical acclaim and being hailed as an amazing breath of fresh air into the JRPG genre, and despite already having an English translation of the game for Europe and Australia, Nintendo of America refused, for unknown reasons, to release the game in North America.

In response, Operation Rainfall was created, a movement to bring Xenoblade Chronicles (among other titles) to North America. With petitions, letters and emails, this dedicated group implored Nintendo to release the game in North America, and they have finally succeeded.

I know what I'm doing after Skyward Sword.

Questions, comments, or snide remarks? Leave them in a comment, and I'll get to them after I beat the next dungeon.

Biology 12 exam today. Wish me luck. I'm kind of dreading this exam because Bio 12 is one of those information-heavy courses that pretty much requires you to memorize everything, and I've always preferred performance-based tests to those based solely on the ability to regurgitate information. Yup, give me an essay any day of the week.

On the other hand, it'll be nice to just get it over with so I don't have to think about it anymore.

Also, if you happen to understand the difference between DNA and RNA, or the difference between dendrites and axoms, or how much ATP is produced by the electron transport chain versus glycolysis or the citric acid cycle, then try hard to develop telepathy and send that info to me, because I know it now, but, knowing me, I'll probably forget it when I've actually got the exam in front of me.

Now to study for the few hours I have left...

Anyone else have exams coming up? Are you nervous or excited to get it over with?

As a rule, I don't watch many horror movies. Actually, I don't watch any. My parents don't like them, and I've never really had an opportunity.

That changed last night, with The Mist.

I have never been so terrified in my life. My friends and I were joking around during the movie, trying to lighten the mood, but every few minutes one of us would scream as some alien creature popped up and scared the living daylights out of us. Yes, it was a horror movie: I was horrified.

And once the movie was over, I didn't want to drive home. It was late and dark and the stretch of road that takes me home runs along the ocean so it's often quite foggy. I considered staying at my friend's house until morning, but it was a school night. So I ran to the car, expecting some bloodthirsty animal to sink its fangs into me at any second, jumped inside, and cranked the happy music.

    Yes, I made it home.

No, I didn't sleep last night.

We're thinking we'll watch The Descent next weekend.

We played a fantastic game, but Schneider had to wreck it by pretending he wasn't goalie. Seriously dude - it's your job to stay in the net, so do it!

Samuelsson - if you've got a four-on-two breakaway and both defencemen are in your way - pass. Don't shoot.

You'd think it would be obvious, but apparently not.

after guiding me to my new understanding of the universe, the farm animal guided me to another dream. moving from dream to dream was an amazing but scary experience, because I needed to jump from my dream into the vast abyss of the universe, and call a dream to me. fortunately, I had the farm animal with me, and he was my guide.

we stood at the edge of my dream, and looked down. I could see billions of stars and galaxies swirling in an endless pool of darkness.

are you ready? asked the farm animal. you must jump, and in doing so exit your dream. in that brief instant you will free fall into the universe, and that sensation of falling will awaken your mind to the other dreams that you can enter. but if you fall too far, you will awaken, and return to your world.

don't be afraid: I wil guide you.

we jumped, and I felt the familiar sensation of falling that I had so often felt in dreams. my stomach leapt into my throat, and in that instant I saw that each star was a dream. the farm animal guided us to one reddish star, and we entered the dream in a blaze of soft light.

It was a dream of beaches and pink sandals, of tide pools and warm sunshine. the farm animal bid me look down to the sand, and so I did.

what do you see? he asked (telepathically, of course).

I see crabs, I replied (also telepathically; I gained this ability from my illumination when I realized that the whole universe is connected)

this is their dream; they are dreaming of you. teach them what I taught you, the farm animal said.

but they're crabs, not farm animals I replied.

it doesn't matter. anyone and anything can be a farm animal.

this opened a new vista of meaning to me. these crabs were potential farm animals, and they were dreaming of me, an inititiate farm animal. all I had to do was open them up to what I had seen.

so I cleared my telepathic throat. how many licks to get to the centre of a tootsie roll pop?

the crabs ignored me, going about the sand and all their business as quietly as before.

why won't they listen? I asked.

every farm animal is different, the farm animal replied. you must speak to them so they will understand. this is your first test as a farm animal: to speak to potential farm animals so they hear, understand, and awaken as farm animals too.

you are in their dream; it is your responsibility to adapt to their mind.

and so I faced my first test: to relate to these crabs, who were dreaming of me, and awaken them to the infinite possibilities that lay beyond their wildest dreams.

A rather ferocious storm came up last night: rain, snow, 100km/h winds, the works.

Half of town lost power, so school was cancelled. I was fortunate enough to have power all day, because I live close enough to the hospital to share its grid.

Needless to say, it was a nice day.

To be perfectly honest, I like storms, regardless of whether or not I lose power. At least, I like them when I'm inside and not out in them. That's one thing I miss about living on the prairies: the powerful storms, with hail, lashing rain, and lightning.

Ah, yes. I miss lightning very much. For those of you who have never personally beheld a lightning storm, it is an amazing sight. My old house had a large bay window, perfect for breathlessly scanning the dark skies for that flash of electricity.

    Man In The Mirror
    Michael Jackson

Ooh ooh ooh aah Gotta make a change
    For once in my life
    It's gonna feel real good
    Gonna make a difference
    Gonna make it right

As I turned up the collar on
    A favorite winter coat
This wind is blowin' my mind
I see the kids in the street
    With not enough to eat
Who am I to be blind
Pretending not to see their needs

    A summer's disregard
    A broken bottle top
    And a one man's soul
    They follow each other
    On the wind ya' know
'Cause they got nowhere to go
That's why I want you to know

I'm starting with the man in the mirror
I'm asking him to change his ways
And no message could have been any clearer
If you wanna make the world a better place
Take a look at yourself and then make a change, yey
Na na na, na na na, na na na na oh ho

    I've been a victim of
    A selfish kinda love
    It's time that I realize
There are some with no home
    Not a nickel to loan
Could it be really pretending that they're not alone

    A willow deeply scarred
    Somebody's broken heart
    And a washed out dream
    (Washed out dream)
They follow the pattern of the wind ya' see
'Cause they got no place to be
That's why I'm starting with me

I'm starting with the man in the mirror
I'm asking him to change his ways
And no message could have been any clearer
If you wanna make the world a better place
Take a look at yourself and then make a change

I'm starting with the man in the mirror
I'm asking him to change his ways
And no message could have been any clearer
If you wanna make the world a better place
Take a look at yourself and then make that change

I'm starting with the man in the mirror
(Man in the mirror, oh yeah)
I'm asking him to change his ways, yeah
    (Change)
No message could have been any clearer
If you wanna make the world a better place
Take a look at yourself and then make the change
You gotta get it right, while you got the time
'Cause when you close your heart
(You can't close your, your mind)
    Then you close your mind

(That man, that man, that man)
(That man, that man, that man)
(With the man in the mirror, oh yeah)
(That man you know, that man you know)
(That man you know, that man you know)
I'm asking him to change his ways
    (Change)
No message could have been any clearer
If you wanna make the world a better place
Take a look at yourself then make that change

(Na na na, na na na, na na na na)
    Ooh, oh yeah
Yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah
(Na na na, na na na, na na na na)

    Oh no
Oh no, I'm gonna make a change
    It's gonna feel real good
    Sure mon
    (Change)
    Just lift yourself
You know, you got to stop it yourself
    (Yeah)
    Oh, make that change
(I gotta make that change today, oh)
    (Man in the mirror)
You got to, you got to not let yourself, brother oh
    Yeah, you know that
    (Make that change)
(I gotta make that make me then make)
You got, you got to move
    Sure mon, sure mon
    You got to
(Stand up, stand up, stand up)
    Make that change
Stand up and lift yourself, now
    (Man in the mirror)
    Make that change
(Gonna make that change, sure mon)
    (Man in the mirror)
You know it, you know it, you know it, you know
    (Change)
    Make that change

It's a new year, with new opportunities to change the man (or woman) that you see in the mirror. Opportunities to make our world a better place.

    Happy New Year 2011!

Wow, I've received quite a few name suggestions! Because there's so many, I've decided to choose the winner using a slightly unorthodox method:

I've separated the names submitted into three groups.

Tonight, the Vancouver Canucks are playing the Chicago Blackhawks in the seventh, final game of their series.

If the Canucks win, then the corresponding group will be the names voted on.

If the Blackhawks win, then those corresponding names will be voted on.

And if the two teams go into overtime, the final group of names wil be the ones voted on.

I'll post the poll tomorrow, with the winning names. Then you, yes, you, will have the opportunity to vote for whichever you like.

    Until tomorrow, comrades!

    Return

    Read this.

It's not my work. I'm not advertising something I wrote. This is a beautiful, poignant short story; one of the best I've ever read. Do yourself a favour and read it, because it's honestly brilliant.

If you guessed my car keys, you're right.

Yeah, so last night's Canucks game was so disappointing I guess I accidentally locked my keys in my car. I've got my keys back now, but I'm $40 poorer. Hopefully it's a lesson learned and won't do that again.

And if the Canucks win tomorrow, maybe that'll make up for it.

    Happy New Year!

In other news, I beat Skyward Sword a week ago in case you are interested. I'm working on completing all the sidequests and obtaining all the heart pieces now.

More other news: I miss the BZPRPG. I'm going to get involved again in the new year (although probably not to the extent I was involved last year; graduation and all that). Maybe just a character or two, but it's going to happen. Probably.

Even more other news: LoTR LEGO has me crying for joy.

Last piece of other news: I love you. Bye now.
