Strike of the Hour will release Friday, October 23rd!

Karios has been kind enough to work on some illustrations for the Okoto 579 series, so as thanks I have agreed to write a new short story starring a character of his design. Set after the end of The Failure‘s Claim, Ekimu’s journey across Okoto has taken him to the Region of Ice, where a fellow blacksmith offers him shelter. The smith has a secret, however, and Ekimu may come to realize that a very shocking change is coming.

"Why Pahrak. Why do you still have these. Why did you waste this much of your parents money and then still cling onto these things for 13 years."

"IT'S NOT LIKE I CAN SELL THEM OKAY WHY DON'T YOU FOCUS ON YOUR OWN PROBLEMS AND GET A NAME"

November already? Here’s something to give thanks for. (Because Thanksgiving? I know it’s not my best one, but none of you laughed at my Earth Wind and Fire joke in September so I’m not breaking my back trying to find a better one.)

Genesect is available at GameStop! I’m not sure why it wasn’t saved for December, being the last Pokémon in Gen V National Dex order, but hey, Genesect is cool! Go get one if you don’t already have one!

Come to think of it, Genesect was the first (and thus far only) Bug-type Legendary! Right now Poison is the only type without a Legendary. Or…could that be about to change?!

    GEN VII HERE WE GO!

So, Dragon Ball Super. They’re about to head into a new arc where 10 fighters from each of the 12 universes are brought together for a massive tournament, and the losers’ universes will be destroyed. I’ve been unsure what to think of this since the beginning: multiversal tournament sounds great, but the survival aspect…I mean I guess it adds stakes, but I love that we found out there are 12 universes, it opened up so much potential and if they’re going to throw all that away…

    *sigh*

I guess we’ll have to see. Anyway, a new trailer for the arc was released today, giving brief glimpse of the gods of destruction and angels of some of the universes. Several of them have animal motifs like Beerus, though others are more humanoid, one is a clown…for some reason. There are also clips of some other fighters, including ol’ Cabba and Frost, and someone who…

Uh…well, it’s early, but we see what appears to be a female character quickly transforming into a female Broly.

I don’t think anyone was expecting this, but let’s think for a second. Broly is, well, “legendary” for being so powerful. If we’re getting a female version of that character, then that means we might actually be getting a female Super character…who can hold her own against relevant opponents?!

We’ve already seen that Android 18 is going to be involved in this arc (finally getting back in the action after a long wait), so that could be cool, and Vados and any other female angels (or goddesses of destruction?) are definitely sitting at a high power level, but this feels a little different. Probably because:
    -CANON FEMALE SUPER SAIYAN
-Being a Super Saiyan phenomenally increases one’s chances of being/staying relevant
-Saiyan, so definitely going to be actually doing some fighting
    -A female Broly. That’s, like…something new!

I mean we’ll have to wait and see how exactly this plays out, but…I’m extremely interested in seeing how it does.

So my story-novel-thing Divine Strength has been pretty much dead for a while now, with most of my time trying to brainstorm for it over the past few months being spent on the mechanics of how the main character’s hair color changes. That is a 100% true statement. Unbelievable.

(I mean I think I also found a potential way to make one of the other characters interesting but most of it has been the hair thing, and that sounds funny out of context. Always lead with a joke, or something, I don’t know.)

I don’t really want to give up on it, though, so I’m thinking I should try writing some short scenes to flesh out the characters and world and such to get myself motivated, working, and making the thing all around more interesting. Now…I just need some way to come up with ideas for such scenes.

So, does anyone know a good way to get prompts for short character/world-building scenes? If being specific would be helpful, it’s a magical middle ages type deal. I mean, with how cliché that is, I’m sure there are resources specifically for that, I should get looking…

And, I doubt it’s the case, but if anyone’s read the bits of this idea I’ve already put up and has some things they’d like to see, feel free to request. Most of that stuff is so vague at this point that I don’t think there’s much chance, but I figure it can’t hurt to ask.

And I guess if you have some other prompt you want to give me unrelated to this idea you can go ahead, but I make no guarantees on getting around to it. Not that I really guarantee getting around to the relevant ones either, just…well, y’know.

It bothers me when people insist that I am smart.

I’m a college dropout working part-time in a grocery store deli. What part of that says smart to you?

I need a quick way to shut people up the next time this happens. Unfortunately, I can’t think of one. Because I’m not smart!

The level cap was increased just before I hit it. I guess it keeps me more invested that way.

Now that they've reset Raid Bosses, I'm defeating them very quickly...but only get just over 1000 Lux for each one. I currently need around 40,000 for each Level. That combined with April's "Half AP" thing being over mean that I can't sit and play as long as I used to, but maaaaybe that's for the best.

Oh, yeah, I got a jetpack. Jetpacks are cool. Gauntlets are also cool too.

For all the ridiculous nonsense in Kingdom Hears, it strikes me that people don't talk about Space Paranoids that much.

I mean the simple fact that a game in 05/06 used Tron, from 1982, as a world is weird enough, not to mention that it's a world inside a world, but when you get there, Tron says that it is a copy of the original.

Think about that for a minute. Ansem the Wise got onto ENCOM's servers (apparently in the early 80s), saw the Tron world there, and then decided to just copy-paste the entire thing into the Radiant Garden computer system.

And then nobody even knew it was there, had any interaction with it, or tried to update it at all for at least eleven years, maybe more.

Then Goofy, Donald Duck, and an anime kid with a giant key just show up and become Tron's best friends and ram Light Cycles into Heartless.

Why don't we talk more about this?

Just want to mention that I'll be posting three chapters of Forgotten Bond next week--Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. I have reasons.

As many people already know, the first two episodes of The Legend of Korra were officially released last Saturday. I'm just here to say that they were awesome and I cannot wait until episodes begin airing regularly.
Related to that, the Avatar Korra Bioni-Spirit I promised: needless to say, with how the fully upgraded Avatar Orbs are, I can't make Avatar Korra until the series ends. However, I am working on a lower level Korra Spirit similar to #480. Avatar. The problem with that is that Korra has yet to begin Airbending, and I can't finish the Spirit until I can give her an Air attack...
But yeah, Korra is awesome. Even if there is trolling in the first episode...

Didn't have time to type up that story fragment I mentioned last week, not sure when or if I'll get to it.
Began putting more thought into writing out Khadaz and Amy's wedding as a short story, kicking around some ideas...trying to imagine what marriage traditions might develop in a warrior society and/or Ga-Isle specifically. Methinks I should do more research.

Also, the other day I got distracted and decided to brainstorm, so now I've thought up surnames for all the Element-Lords. I'll put them online when I get the time, but not sure how often they'll be used in the stories. I think something like "Dragon-Lord Aile" carries more force without a last name...

Asterisk Holder: Eloch Quentis Khamer VIII

    Origin: Final Fantasy V

Was It In Bravely Default?: Yes

Overview: Time Magic focuses on messing with time to raise or lower target’s speed, and it also grants powerful spells such as Gravity, Meteor, and Reraise. It also contains the Quake spells, allowing for some inexpensive Earth-element damage early in the game. (Though by the time you get Quaga, you’ll probably be opting for Summoner’s Girtablulu instead.) Time Mages are also known for their Slow World and Hasten World support abilities—they can be tricky to take advantage of, but a master can use them to take control of any battle.

Personal Thoughts: Time Mages have always had somewhat questionable taste in headwear, but Bravely Default really dialed up the weirdness. Magnolia is sporting a slightly different look in Bravely Second, but I can’t decide if it’s just as weird or even weirder. Anyway, I got a good amount of use out of Time Mage: I’ve been around long enough to know what Haste and Gravity can do, and I wasn’t about to miss that. Personally, Slow World and Hasten World sound too difficult for me, and I’ve only used Hasten World because I was told it would make the final boss easy. (It does.) You should definitely take a look at Time Mage, but don’t feel bad if you find it’s not your thing.

Credit to Ninja. When contacting another player to arrange a match, you can also decide what arena you want your characters to fight in. Feel free to suggest arenas either through post or PM. Tournaments will use randomized arenas.

    Non-Specific Arenas:
-Coliseum Arena: The default arena, automatically used if no arena is specified. A simple, wide-open space with solid floors and walls. Always used in tournaments unless otherwise noted.
-BZPower Forums: You’ll start on the Index, but by no means does the fight have to stay there! Using the available warps you can jump to any Forum and hide in a crowd of members, opening topics to spill their contents in an avalanche of spam that may disrupt your opponent. If you clutter the Forums with too much spam or badly hurt too many members, Hapori Tohu will blast you with laser vision, so be wary!
-Seismic Showdown: A circular pit webbed with faults and tectonic masses that shift constantly, providing earthquakes of varying scales, geysers and magma explosions that sometimes occur on the borders. Ash and dust lightly rain down on the battlefield, but can collect into clouds and storms, sometimes blinding the duelists. When eruptions occur, flaming embers spew from the underworld, becoming hazardous to the surrounding area. There are small ponds and lakes that plume with steam from the heat, both from the pounding sun and the lava beneath. (Credit to Bulik)

    Slizer Arenas:
-Storm Sector: A sector of the Slizer planet blanketed by a constant thunderstorm.
-Glacial Sector: A sector of the Slizer planet covered in snow and ice.
-Slizer Dome: Home of the Judge/Jet Slizer, at the north pole of the Slizer planet. Battles take place atop a tall building that you definitely don’t want to fall off of. Several computer terminals line the arena, and if you can find a working one you can program the tower’s defenses to treat the opponent as hostile…until the terminal runs out of power, of course.(Credit to Ninja)

    RoboRiders Arenas:
-City-Realm: A RoboRider realm filled with dilapidated skyscrapers, abandoned highways, and swinging wrecking balls.
-Rock-Realm: A RoboRider realm made up of uneven terrain and plenty of rock formations to climb and hide behind.
-Swamp-Realm: Home of the Swamp RoboRider, in this cramped forest there are many vines hanging around and murky waters. There are also tales of a creature lurking in the mud, but those are just rumors…right? [spoiler alert: they're not] (Credit to Ninja)
-Core Matrix: The heart of the RoboRider world, a large, brightly-lit space with featureless floors and walls. Beware: traces of The Virus remain in the form of three-clawed tendrils that will sprout and attack you!
-Ice Realm: Similar to the Glacial sector, the Ice Realm is covered with ice and snow. Frequent blizzards batter the realm making visibility hard to see. (Credit to Snake)

    Bionicle Arenas:
-Naho Bay: A body of water on Mata-Nui. If fighters fall off the lily pads, they will plunge into the water where Tarakavas and Takea sharks wait.
-Stalactite Village: The top of a stalactite planted in the ground of Karda Nui. You can hop to another nearby stalactite, but don’t fall—it’s a long way down.
-Charred Forest: A dark arena filled with dead trees. Not all of the Matoran traps have been disabled, and though they may not be able to hold you for long, they can cost you a crucial second. (Credit to Flaredrick)
-Atero Arena: Similar to the Coliseum Arena, but covered in sand and many pieces of jagged metal- old armor. You can use the metal to fight, potentially. (Credit to Ninja)
-Mangai Volcano: A platform of molten rock is suspended inside the volcano, which will erupt periodically. When it does, we recommend hiding in the tunnels within the walls of the volcano until the platform recreates itself. (Credit to Worldsoul)
-Mangaia: Makuta Teridax’s most well-known lair, a place of perpetual darkness. Manas can be heard scuttling around in the shadows, and the only light comes from the pools of Energized Protodermis in the center. If you fall in, you’ll slowly be burned alive, so I wouldn’t recommend trying to transform. You can hide behind some pillars, but if the foe destroys them they may unleash a Rahkshi.
-Mahri Nui: The match starts out in an air bubble in the sea below Voya Nui, but too much fighting will cause the bubble to pop, letting in the Pit Mutagen to turn you into water-breathers (but that’s the only effect). Being underwater weakens all attacks based off the Mind Stat, even if they wouldn't be weakened in real life. Fighters can swim, jump, and make use of the fact that they are underwater, raising their agility. (Credit to Canis)
-Iron Canyon: A canyon on Bara Magna with sheer rock walls. Rock falls can be triggered, a Skopio sleeps beneath the sand, and we have reports of Bone Hunters roaming in every now and again. (Credit to Vox)
-The Zone of Darkness: A pocket-dimension completely devoid of light, lacking all features besides a flat stone floor and occasional patches of Visorak webbing. Fighters must tread carefully and rely on their senses. The Kahgarak come and go, and they may be attracted to the sounds of a fight. Combatants are free to use their powers to produce light, but be careful not to draw the attention of the Zivon. (Credit to Keizah)

    Hero Factory Arenas:
-Tanker Station 22: A Hero Factory fuel station in poor repair. Jets of flame and steam may erupt without warning, and shooting the fuel pods lying around will have explosive results.
-Quatros: A lush jungle planet populated by a variety of dangerous creatures.
-The Valiant: This Hero Factory ship has been infected by the brains! Due to it being in space, gravity is lower and it is cold, but watch out for the tubes- if you break them, you've unleashed a Brain and the fight gets a bit more complex for both sides! (Credit to Ninja)
-Training Sphere: This round battle ground is a giant sphere, able to resemble other arenas that you can use to your benifit. That is, if you find the controls first. Each fighter may change the arena the Sphere resembles once. Be wary of the HeroBall when a match begins, the arena splits in half and you've got to keep it in the air. Whichever side it hits the ground on is in for a nasty surprise, the likes of which depends upon the arena the Sphere is copying. (Credit to Zakaro)
-Hero Factory Villain Containment: This large, open area may not seem much at first, but that's only if you don't take into account the many cells lining the walls stacked on top of each other. Fighters will have to be careful to not damage the place too much, or villains will be roaming the arena as well, the amount depending on how much damage has been done to the cells in general. In addition, in the centre of the northern wall is Von Nebula's black hole staff. Be careful, fighting around it too much might unleash all of the villains, creating instant chaos for all fighters in the arena! An unfortunate fighter that gets too close during this might even get sucked into a black hole temporarily, where gravity is much lower than normal.
-Tansari VI: A power plant filled with electric generators. Fog obscures the arena, and lightning will strike randomly. (Credit to Flaredrick)

Kingdom Hearts II.8 Final Chapter Prologue was just announced for a release in 2016! Man, that's soon!

Now of course the fandom is rioting "ughugh dat means longer kh3 wait they hates usss" (no part of which is correct) but you know I am not going to let those idiots get me down because let's look at what II.8 includes:

    1. An HD remaster of KH3D! It doesn't seem there will be any other new features, which is kind of disappointing I'll admit, but I absolutely love this game and this should enable more people to play it and I bet it'll look great.

    2. Kingdom Hearts X Back Cover, a movie similar to the previous collections' summaries of Days and Re:coded that will show the story of the Foretellers from X. It's not entirely clear what this will entail at the moment, but if they're including it in a collection like this I can only imagine it will be the most important information from the entire Keyblade War! The only footage shown was of the Awakening platform with the Union symbols, so I have to wonder what it'll look like...maybe it'll look more like the other games than X itself? (To be honest X's style has always been a little "eh" for me but either way it should be good.)

And 3. Kingdom Hearts 0.2 Birth by Sleep -A Fragmentary Passage-. If the name suspiciously similar to the fabled Birth by Sleep Vol. 2 isn't enough indication, this is a brand new segment where you will play as Aqua in the Realm of Darkness. After five years Aqua is once again playable, in KHIII-level graphics. Since this was only just announced and is releasing next year, I'm wondering if it might be on the shorter side, but I am not deterred at all because it's Master freaking Aqua conquering the Realm of Darkness in the most advanced graphics we can currently produce. Delay Kingdom Hearts III all you want just give me this.

Something else interesting: recently there was a leak of sorts where a Square employee mentioned a "Kingdom Hearts 2.9" on a profile somewhere. It seems the title was changed to 2.8 (although maybe 2.9 will be something different?), but if this is the same thing, it's interesting to note that this profile mentions Attraction Flow. So either 3D is getting one very noticeable new feature, or Master Aqua is going to charge through the Realm of Darkness on a roller coaster.

Literally the only thing bad about this is that I don't have a PS4.

It’s been a while since I mentioned Amalgam Atlas. It’ll probably be a while still before that idea makes any real progress. I’ve gotten a bit of brainstorming done, though.

Since this is reworking my old Bioni-Lords series, I’m trying to figure out how much gets carried over/redone, and one of the things that I was reminded of recently is a set of four Spirits who each wielded a different type of sword and were important to the lore (sort of). As a way of changing this up, and making it more versatile, I’m thinking of instead having four legendary sword schools known to the people of this world.

Some of these schools will be directly tied to the group from the original series. One was a Keyblade-user, and if I have a story taking place in a world that mashes together an unlimited number of other worlds, I’m not going to not have a functioning Keyblade order. Another from this group used a “Zodiac Style”, a set of techniques inspired by the animals of the Chinese Zodiac—I’d really like to keep that concept, though I think I’ll need to seriously revise the mechanics.

One of the schools is going to be based around a different idea from Bioni-Lords: a technique that brings the soul of a deceased individual back into the material plane as a blade. The form of the blade and the powers it grants/contains are determined by the individual soul, and I’m thinking this new version will have an enhanced level of the technique that lets the blade turn into something else. This should add to the variety, and it’s something I did want to show with at least one such weapon in the original series before cancelling it. (Plus, part of this might be related to my lingering interest in certain aspects of Bleach…)

For the last, I wasn’t entirely sure what to use, so since this is a jumble of series anyway I figured I might just toss in the Jedi Order. Lightsabers! This then led to the idea of one of the characters I have planned, a member of a group based on characters from a certain anime I enjoy, being portrayed as a Jedi (it’s only slightly different than what I was initially planning), so it’s pretty much guaranteed at this point.

I’m thinking they’ll be collectively referred to as “The Cardinal Blades” or something. Another term I thought of was “Legend Schools”, but now I’m thinking of using that term to broadly describe these and other, non-sword-related organizations, probably including a school of Mask Makers at the very least. Each has a slightly different alignment: the Zodiac school is always looking to the stars and basically ignores the world around them, so they really don’t participate in much of anything going on; the Keyblade order takes action, but tries to avoid unnecessary “meddling” and mostly stays in the shadows; the Jedi Order would have the most political presence and influence, practically being considered a government; and the soul blade school isn’t so much a formal organization, a lot of people go to learn the technique but then leave to pursue their own goals after that.

Not sure I want this to be focal to the plot or anything, but I feel like it’s a decent piece of world-building in-progress. Now to think up a bunch of other random stuff until this actually feels like a place with texture.
  14. Pahrak Model ZX
The fight going on in Bleach right now is exhausting nonsense. This villain’s power is literally “Come back stronger each time you die”, so no matter how thoroughly they destroy him, he stands back up and it just keeps dragging on.

It’s like trying to argue with a Genwunner. No matter how definitively you disprove their argument, they keep insisting it is true no matter what, and it never ends.

(Wow, I actually made that relevant!)

…But seriously. Can’t we make, like, an Official Genwunner Topic, and limit all baseless complaints and hate leveled against G2 to that topic alone? I like that solution. Can we try that?

Gathered friends, listen again to the tale of the Bionicle.

In the time before time, Spherus Magna was without leaders. All were lost, drowning in strife and confusion, fixated on selfishness and separateness. Yet out of this chaos rose those who would bring order: the Great Beings. They took control of the lawless word, and guided it into a new age of enlightenment. Under their rule, Spherus Magna prospered, and the land was at peace.

To better organize the masses, the Great Beings selected a warrior from each Tribe to serve as their leaders. Upon these six, the Great Beings bestowed a great power…the power of the Elements. For a time, the Tribes were ruled over by these Element-Lords. But this was not to last. It was discovered that a precious, mysterious resource known as protodermis laid beneath our feet. The Element-Lords wished to control this substance, and entered into competition with one another. Their greed overtook them. Their lust for power drove the entire planet into war.

Displeased by the Element-Lords’ shameful display, the Great Beings ordered them to relinquish their commands. The arrogant Lords saw fit to challenge the beings who made them…and were struck down. The brutal Skrall even sided with the Rock-Lord, thinking they could overthrow the Great Beings and seize power. They shared in his punishment. Only the Sand-Lord had the wisdom to surrender to her betters. She was allowed to live, and would rededicate her life in service of the Great Beings.

The Great Beings knew they could not trust just anyone to solve this crisis, and so they created the perfect servants to accomplish it. Matoran were born to loyally bear the burdens that lay ahead, while Toa were made to enter the depths of the planet and wield its own Elements to repair the damage done to it. It took several years, but in the end, the Great Beings’ plan was successful. The Melding was complete.

With the safety of all assured, the Great Beings wished to turn again to their work. However, they had learned that not just any being could be trusted to lead in their stead, and decided it was time for new leaders to be forged. And so the Great Beings crafted the perfect servants: the noble Makuta, second only to their makers in power and wisdom. With these valiant champions carrying out their will, the Great Beings led the world to peace once more…and this time, peace has remained.

For a thousand centuries, we have been at peace, watched over by the Great Beings and the Makuta. May it last a thousand more, and may none ever again be foolish enough to challenge the Great Beings.

So, you know…have a Merry Christmas! Please. I mean, if you want to.

Or if you celebrate something else, I hope you have a happy holiday as well!

And if you don’t celebrate anything than I hope you have a nice day!

Pokemon Sword and Shield will not let you transfer in Pokemon not found in the games themselves. There are no plans to patch the rest in at any point in the future.

So the time I spent catching 800 of the little buggers really was just a complete waste, even in the eyes of the company that made the darn game. Swell.

So this is my Unchained X character. Turns out the English version currently has only 200 missions available, so right now I’m backtracking to complete some bonus objectives and expand my Avatar Boards.

I decided to use Starlight for this picture since it’s the only Keyblade I was able to get to third tier. Three Wishes is right at the point where it can be upgraded to third tier, but I’m one Orichalcum short. Hope they add at least another 25 missions soon! Treasure Trove, Lady Luck, and Olympia are all at second tier, with Olympia at its current max level of 10. Not that I’ve used Olympia much (and really I haven’t used Starlight too often either).

Those are the best Medals I have, too. Want to say they're all 4-5 star, but off the top of my head I'm actually not entirely sure?

    -Ampharos ("Reeper", no nickname)
    -Raichu ("Pika", "Minnie")
    -Luxray ("Shin")
    -Zekrom

Hm, not a whole lot of diversity amongst my Electric types, huh? Yes, I trained some Pikachu. You're darn right I evolved them! It's a fun type to have, although sometimes it can be difficult keeping them alive in battle. If I had to pick a favorite...well, I might actually go with Luxray. My Platinum Luxray is really, really awesome. I'm sure I'll train more Electric types in the future, but I'm not really sure who or when...

    Dark will be next.

If you were not aware, Episode 11 has been released (in Russian), and it has murals. Steven Universe has taught us that murals are important, so I took a closer look at the murals.

    Here is one of them

Now there's a lot that can be taken from this, but the most important thing?

Mario, Master of Plumbers, has been confirmed!!

    June…doesn’t really mean anything special.

Except now it does, because it means you can get Manaphy over Mystery Gift! This is far less convoluted than that egg nonsense from when it was first made available!

Also, when you get your Manaphy, be sure to leave it at the day care with Ditto—that’s the only way you can get the not-exactly-Legendary Pokémon Phione!

I'm taking a Fiction Writing class this semester--we all write stories, distribute them, and then workshop them each in class. Today we went over my latest story, and when we were done talking about it, everyone handed back their copies with comments written in the margins. As I was going over these, I noticed that one classmate came up with a name for the canon ship in this story and confessed to fangirling a little.

This is the greatest compliment my writing has ever been given like I am on the brink of tears from how meaningful this is and I don't know how to handle it

So I guess I'm doing something right?? I definitely wish to pursue this idea now.
