Scan the code, break the code, BREAK THE CODE!

    8479 Barcode Multi-Set

Description: Released in 1997 for a retail price of about 70 dollars, today this set sells MISB for an astonishing 350 bucks, clearly a collectors item. Containing 1280 parts, this set had a unique function in that it had a code pilot brick that could read barcodes, each one resulting in a different kind of function.

My take: Never had this set, I am still confused about the whole barcode thing. From what I have gathered, each time the code pilot reads a barcode, it results in the truck bed lifting, or the pincers in the front moving. Not sure what else could be done with it but at any rate, it is a valuable set and a neat part of technic history.

    1. What will you dress up as this year? (I am going to be the Reaper, I even have a real scythe and my skeleton claws!)

    2. Will you be trick or treating? (After work yes, I am just a big kid after all!)

    3. What kind of candy is your favorite? (Kit Kat)

    4. What kind of candy is your least favorite? (Generic hard candies)

    5. Did you carve your own pumpkins? (I did, its a creepy one!)

    Fire up the rig boys!

    5571 Giant Truck

Description: Released in 1996 as part of the Model Team series at a retail price of about 50 dollars. This has become a sought after collectors item and now sells MISB for a whopping 400-600 bucks! Containing 1743 parts, it was one of the largest of the model team sets.

My take: Sadly I had this set and lost it. It has lots of nice details and a steering function. I am not sure why it has become so valuable now, it is not really that old of a set but it must be very hard to come by now in a sealed box.

The long arm of the law...

    6386 Police Command Base

Description: Released in 1986 for a retail price of about 30 dollars, this can be purchased today MISB for about 200 bucks. Containing 365 parts and 4 minifigs, this set was one of the earlier police sets. Rather basic but at the same time there was plenty of play-ability to be had with it.

My take: I think I had this set, forgive me my memory from the mid 80s is a bit hazy in my old age. I seem to remember playing with the helicopter. I thought the whole landing pad thing was pretty neat, there are a few interior details also, of course they can be jazzed up a bit with some of your own parts and stuff. The cell is quite, plain and a bit cramped, I sure would not want to be stuck in it!

Picture this, a zero gravity track, with a car that runs inside of it. A vertical ring, lined with magnets.

Can it be done? Well, after the whole mag rail thing actually worked, I think it just may be possible, expensive of course but possible. I have enough magnets, power functions parts and other things needed. Now its just a matter of time and money. I might have to order gear plates, I do not think tires will have enough pull when the vehicle is upside down. Weight is also a concern, as always. Wind up motor might be a better choice but, it would be oh so awesome if I could make it RC.

Also, I abondoned the motorized/wall-less mag rail project, after several attempts, I have deemed it impossible with lego magnets.

After several months of voting, contest extentions, server downtime and etc, we have our winners!

In first place, and winning a Chrome Hau is Primus! Veq? will take second place and will have his choice of a Tarduk, Raanu, or Coast Guard Kayak set! Congrats to our winners and thanks to all that entered, yea all 4 of you! Winners expect a PM from me soon so I can get your prizes out to you. Look for my next contest in the near future once prizes have been received. Perhaps I should make the next contest theme basic and simple, we really need more entries next time!

Well, the voting ended in a tie between Primus and Veq, each with 6 votes, Ballom got 5 and Christo got 1, so there must be a tiebreaker now to decide the winner and actual prizes! Voting for this final poll will end on Thursday the 22nd of October! Please cast your votes everyone! Thanks to everyone who voted and entered for making my second blog contest a success!

Man that was a close game, Baltimore had us beat but missed the field goal. Favre has done us proud!

In other NFL news, the Steelers won and the Seahawks got just plain dominated by Arizona. Man, not a good day to be a Seattle fan. Watching the Sunday night game now, looks like Atlanta has it won but Chicago was driving deep last time I saw, there have been alot of fumbles and turnovers, makes for a very entertaining game!

I might bring back my weekly NFL recap entries, though no one really seemed intrested last year when I did them for all 17 weeks! Where are all the sports fans at? I thought Bionicle and sports went hand in hand?

Now that I have finally had time to sort out a little bit, I got more pics! Also, a few more part orders came in, I got the awesome Cyber Strikers set for cheap, which means I now have one sealed and one to play with! Truly one of the most entertaining sets made by lego. Now onto the goods!

    Shocking!

    8388 Shock Cycle

Description: Released in 1991 for a retail price of around 30 dollars, today this set sells for about 50 bucks MISB. Containing 251 parts, this was one of the first of the larger technic sets to feature a moving motor and realistic suspension on a bike.

My take: Had this set, lost it. It has nice shock absorbers and those neat chain parts. Why did I have to lose all these good sets!?
  12. CzaR
Well, it is all over now sadly. But, I have pics!

Dan Parker had these nifty lampshades:

This was a little game I made and offered prizes, I call it lego jenga, you try to stack them as high as you can, just something made with the brickgrab bag I got. The best part was that Todd Webb, who works for Lego, approached me and asked for a design, which I was more than happy to give him:

The mad dash at the Lego store:

My ugly mug at the Lego store:

More stuffs I made from the brickgrab:

Is it really almost over allready?

I have had a blast though, did a nifty set review with the BZPeoples last night, which was both informative and entertaining. Met lots of new people, shared ideas, made big bucks and picked up the massive Death Star set with the mother load of SW minifigs! I will have pictures posted either tonight or tomorrow afternoon. Sadly I missed the BZP group shot, as I was slaving away behind my vendor table. I was just about cleaned out yesterday so I made some stuffs from the brick grab which also ended up selling! I had this neat game I made called Lego Jenga, where you have to stack these little pointed cubes I made with brackets, boat studs and 1x2 domes. It was a big hit since I offered prizes, one person ended up winning a gold heist set. Then someone made me an offer on the game so I had to sell it. Arpy, Kopakanui, Roa and Alsru cleaned me out of all my titan sockets and ball joints so I guess I had better get to ordering more.

The most amusing part was when we rigged up Baranus to Roas RC car, it was doing fishtails! Then we tried hooking it up to the maverick but it was a bit too fast for it. I also got to see Cajun and his work up close, which was all kinds of awesome.

All in all, I will be back next year, no doubt. I have had more fun here since I was in high school. It was very nice meeting you all, I look forward to seeing some familiar faces next year as well.

I am up early to prepare for last second prep for Brickcon. I see that I am not a morning person, hopefully my ride gets here soon so we can beat the traffic.

All my stuff is packed up and ready, I have much more that I thought, I do not know how some folks like Roa and Arpy find the room to pack up all their works!

    Wish me luck all.

Wow, a 8.0 earthquake was recorded off of Samoa, causing a tsunami that appears to have devastated parts of Pago Pago and other islands in the area. They even issued a warning clear over here for the western coast! That is a huge earthquake! More Here.

Yikes, all this in the midst of preparing for Brickcon? Im a bit worried now...
  16. CzaR
Some of the stuff I will have for sale, and the final version of the Maverick. I worked in the trans red dome and moved the IR receiever to the top, which increased range tenfold! Now I am rushing to pack!

    Rocket man...

    6454 Countdown Corner

Description: Released in 1999 for a retail value of about 25 dollars, today sells MISB for about 40 bucks. Containing 128 parts and 1 minifig, the set was part of the space port series.

My take: This set has those neat trans red rocket nozzle parts. It also has a light and sound brick for added effect. Not really something I would be interested in outside of the parts, but still a nice and simple set.

Buy 2 get one free sale at Fred Meyer! Got the Space Truck Getaway for free, which is also the draft set for Brickcon! One of the other 2 sets, either Pirates or Agents is going to be opened and its parts will become mine! The other will be going up for sale, which one should I open?

I am leaning towards the Agents set, I want to see what that battery powered laser part is all about.

Entry period has ended, voting will begin soon!

Welcome to the second Sanitarium Contest. The theme this time is pretty straight forward, Build a ground based combat vehicle, with personnel. Your entry must meet the following requirements to be accepted.

    1. The vehicle must be ground based, as in wheels or treads. The entry MUST have wheels or treads and they MUST be used as a means of transportation on the entry. Transformers and/or humanoid vehicles are also fine, the vehicle may also have the ability to float/fly, but remember that it must be ground based initally.

    2. The vehicle must be able to carry at least 2 or more personnel inside of it. This means the interior, the personnel must be able to fit at least halfway into the vehicle. The personnel can be minifigures, technic minifigures, toa/matoran, custom personnel, robots/droids or whatever, just as long as 2 of them fit inside the vehicle, and they are distinct.

    3. The vehicle must have some sort of gun/cannon/laser on it, it does not have to fire like a blunt shooter but it must clearly be a long range weapon of some sort. Catapults, slingshots, anything is game here as long as it is long range.

Lego prizes will be awarded for first and second place, first place will win a Chrome Hau and second place will win either Tarduk, Raanu or a Coast Guard Kayak city set, selected at random!

    Rules are as follows:

    1. Your entry will be put under the microscope very closely, so please provide several angles/pictures of it before entering, any non lego parts found on the entry will result in a DQ. There is no lego medium that will not be accepted here, it can be 100 percent system, 100 percent technic and so on.

    2. Outside of the theme, this is a freebuild, so you may build anything you like! However you may NOT edit the creation once it has been officially entered and you may not steal another persons work.

    3. There will be no 3 part entries. Your creation must contain at least 30 parts at the minimum.

    4. No whining, no complaining, no cheating, period. This means begging for votes when the polling has begun also.

    5. The NEW deadline for this contest has been set for September 25th. There will be NO further extentions.

    6. You may only enter ONE vehicle. This is not up for debate, detachable accessories and the like are fine, but ALL these must be able to attach to the main creation in some manner.

    7. You may NOT enter previously posted/public creations.

    8. Have fun and please PM me for any further questions or information, or post. Everyone will be given a second chance, so if your entry does not fit the contest requirements, you may modify it and then re-enter it at least once. No pressure!

Just all of a sudden, it will not read any games. It still works for internet and stuff, but it is straight up worthless to me now without the ability to play Castlevania: SotN and Dissidia.

Man, I am so bummed out. I think the lens is broken, it is loose when I inspected it. I was always careful with my PSP, I cannot fathom how this could of happened. Dangit Sony, Nintendo just gained some more points over you in my book, I have never, ever had any problems with ANY Nintendo product, ever. I have only had the PSP for 7 months!

Just when I was getting ready to go online with Dissidia and fork out 300 bills for a PS3. Now my level 100 Gabranth with mastered abilites will remain in a suspended animation for, um, who knows how long! Bummed out to the max!
