I decided to take a stab at poetry without it being a school assignment. I think it turned out rather well.

--In the words of the rather annoying White Sox commentator Hawk Harrelson. Unfortunately, the Padres could not beat Jonathan Sanchez and give us a fourth straight year of extra regular season baseball, and Game 163.

History will not be made this year, at least in the form of the first year ever with a three way tie solved by tiebreakers, and now the San Francisco Giants are NL West Champions, the Atlanta Braves the National League Wild Card, and the San Diego Padres are a team with perhaps one of the biggest lost opportunities this season, but can still look back on a season that far exceeded the very low expectations set for them in April.

In the meantime you can see how the playoff matchups are in the content block to the side.

"We've mistakenly altered the space-time continuum to prevent the Cubs from reaching the World Series!"

    "What, Doc?"

    "No time to explain!"

Doc and Marty better fix this. When I wake up tomorrow, I expect the Cubs to be up at least 2-1 in the series.

And I want my hoverboard too, but first things first.

After three innings, the score is tied with the AL Champion Rangers scoring using NL-style small ball and the NL Champion Cardinals scoring off of an AL-style two-run bash by Berkman.

    Let's Go Rangers!

I've hit it, and I think I've got a new rank icon. Problem is that I don't remember the one I had before.

    I don't think Tahnok-Kal was there before.

Firstly, the final Comic Caption winner of the '10-'11 offseason: Xidash. Expect comic captions to return after the 2011 World Series. BTW, Sumiki and Legolover-361 tied for first in the CCCs with 3 wins apiece.

Secondly, as Spring Training rolls on in, so does some new features to the BaseBlog. First, is a new name: BaseBlog: Spring Training, and secondly, 30 Clubs in 30 Days.

30 Clubs, 30 Days is a ripoff based on MLB Network's 30 Clubs in 30 Days preseason television show, which starts on March 3 with the Detroit Tigers in Lakeland, Florida, home of the Lakeland Flying Tigers A+ minor league affiliate of the Detroit Tigers. My version of 30 Clubs in 30 Days, however, will include a daily blog entry about each MLB team, in preview of the 2011 season. However, to make it more interesting, which team I write about first will be up to the BZPers. I will match up two teams daily (preferably rivals) and you can vote for which one you want to read about most. To start off, I'll pit the World Champion San Francisco Giants against their longtime rivals--even when they were on the other side of the nation--the Los Angeles Dodgers. Vote by commenting in this entry.

Finally, some news on Albert Pujols. Today was his deadline for the Cardinals to try to sign an extension with him, but no agreement was made, and now the Cardinals will only have the five days following the end of the 2011 World Series to have exclusive negotiating rights with the man who is widely considered to be the greatest player in the game right now. Following those five days, other money-heavy teams like the Mets, Rangers, Dodgers, Angels, and perhaps a few less wealthy dark horse teams will try to lure Prince Albert away from the Cardinal red. In the meantime, Both Pujols and the Cardinals will have to focus on spring training in Jupiter, Florida, in the home of their A+ minor league affiliate, the Palm Beach Cardinals.

In the sixth, the Rangers have the lead 4-3 in a back-and-forth game six in some more small ball, but good pitching recoveries by Jaime Garcia and a managing gaffe by Ron Washington has kept the Rangers from blowing this game wide open.

Right now, it's the top of the sixth. Let's go Rangers!

After a three-run seventh including back to back home runs by Beltre and Cruz (I guess he'll be trick-or-treating as a witch riding his BOOM-stick this year), the Rangers have the lead, but one of the great things in baseball is that Texas has to get all three outs. No clock to run down in baseball.

But yeah, let's go Rangers anyway.

Thank the Lord my dad kept watching so I could know about Hamilton's homer.

BUT QUIT GIVING ME A HEART ATTACK, TEXAS! I HAVE ENOUGH OF THOSE IN THE REGULAR SEASON WITH THE CUBS!

A Comedy of Errors is the name my mom gives to any baseball game like game 5 of the NLCS. First the foul bunt that was called fair, then the throw to third, during which Pablo Sandoval goofed, and then a series of errors, gaffes, and blunders throughout the rest of the game resulted in a 4-2 PHI win.

As for the RAGE part? FOX had technical difficulties during the ending of the game, so I was unable to watch the end. Hence the RAGE!

Oh yeah, game 2 rematch between Colby Lewis and Phil Hughes. My prediction is that the ALCS ends today. Go Texas.

Merry Christmas Eve Eve, everybody, and congratulations to this week's winner, Night Fury!

Also, for this Christmas week, I have the Detroit Tigers' mascot, Paws, walking about Comerica Park in a Santa suit for their "Christmas in July" event that occurred in the middle of the season.

...The World Series may be coming to Texas Rangers fans for the first time in, literally, forever. CC has to recover from his game 1 start, while if CJ Wilson and the rest of the Rangers can do everything they've done for the majority of this series, the Rangers will be American League Champions.

Tune in to TBS at the top of the hour for American League Championship Series Game 5, between the Texas Rangers and New York Yankees at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx.

    A little bird was chirping,

    Perched high upon a roof,

    Until its small heart sputtered

When it heard a fearsome woof.

It quickly flew away from there,

    Finding refuge in a tree.

It mocked the dog, and gaily laughed,

'til a cat found that chickadee.

...since he already answered and gave me the idea to ask the question.

In entertainment, such as movies and TV shows and LEGO themes, can anything truly be better, or are all things in entertainment equal, since everyone's tastes are different, and thus cannot be right or wrong?

From where I stand, the latter is true, purely through logic, not through my opinions. So, is my logic flawed, or does this make factual sense and simply getting tired of arguing?

The Padres had a comeback season, and were two wins away from winning the NL West and upending the San Francisco Giants. But a game #162 loss to the Giants ended the Padres season, and started SF's world series run. Through the past two years, people have been wondering when Gonzalez would finally leave San Diego, and now it has.

Gonzalez will be going to the Boston Red Sox, in return for a few prospects. The deal certainly helps the Red Sox, but now we have to know, will the Padres be able to replicate their 2010 season?

Currently, after approximately 130 votes, about 75% have said that they are on the "Like" side of the spectrum, and only a little less than 15% were on the "dislike" side of the HF poll.

29% of those who like it are big fans, 58% of the likers say they like it moderately, and 13% of them said they only liked it a little more than they disliked it. A total of 91 people voted on the "Like" part of the spectrum.

Of the dislikers, 28% said they hated Hero Factory, 28% said they disliked it moderately, and a majority of 44% of the dislikers said they only disliked it a little more than they liked it. Only 18 voters out of the 129 were on the dislike side of the spectrum.

Of the full 129, only 14 voters (11.38%) said they didn't care. 6 of the 129 nulled, a meager 5%.
