  1. Whoa.

Saying that this is incredibly impressive doesn't do it justice. As countless other members have already said, the attention to detail is unbelievable. The rust and the sheer size really evoke the aura of what a Great Spirit Robot MOC should be: grand and imposing. And the island-mask to boot? Jeez, this is easily one of the most impressive things I've ever seen in this forum. Well done!

  2. That's very nice and sleek; just what a hover-ship needs to be. It greatly reminds me of the many vehicles used throughout the WipEout franchise. Did that play as an influencing factor for this creation, CeziuM?

Hah, I was going to say that too! Really takes me back to my childhood PS1 days. It's sleek but it has a lot of character, and overall I really like the balance between yellow and purple, with the grey machinery-looking parts helping with the hover-ship aesthetic and the green sticking out quite nicely. Nice job!

  3.

so long as people don't go totally overboard with it, like after the end of G1, I'd be fine with it

This. Krakua was neat. The things from the Rahi Beasts guide and the Dark Hunters guide were kind of neat. The later things, like deciding what Certavus canonically looked like (Congratulations! Now no one has to ever use their imaginations to visualize this character again!) or the canonization of other minutiae after the story had long since concluded? That's the kind of stuff we could've done without.

Agreed. The addition of Krakua was probably my favorite addition from a fan contest as it contributed an entirely new character and was somewhat well advertised among fans. And then there were contests like "Let's decide exactly what Tobduk looks like!" and other weirdly specific things that honestly just bogged down the entire idea of canonization contests.

  4. After the Matoran Civil War, I assumed that Teridax was viewed with a combination of fear, respect, and infamy- he slaughtered a bunch of Matoran, but he did effectively end a war that threatened to end the universe, so he probably got points for that.

In terms of his identity, I kind of assumed that the Makuta were simply called "Makuta" or "the Makuta" by the inhabitants of their regions. The Matoran probably knew of Teridax's presence and his purpose in Metru Nui, but of the workings and politics of the Brotherhood they probably knew nothing.

  5. To be honest, I'd like them to stick around on Okoto for a while. There's a lot we still don't know about it, and from what I understand of the new story there is much about Okoto's past specifically that hasn't been revealed. Okoto has a lot of potential, and I'd really like to see the story make use of that.

Past that, I'd rather not have another island with identical/similar villagers or a reveal that Okoto is on the face of a giant robot part of an enormous other universe with identical/similar beings. Exploring the stars would be kinda cool IMO, but maybe unlikely. I wouldn't be opposed to the idea of going under the island, once again as long as there doesn't happen to be an ocean/island/universe beneath Okoto.

  6.

This is where the Mask Maker has lain in deep sleep ever since the great cataclysm

    Sound familiar?

That is exactly what I thought. What is the Great Cataclysm exactly now? The battle between the two?

Assumedly. That's what kickstarted the current miserable state Okoto's in.

To be fair, the Ekimu/Makuta battle caused a "shockwave". Kinda like an earthquake.

So Makuta went up against the big good guy, which ended up creating a shockwave and plunging everything into darkness?

    Huh.

I still like the fleshing out of the story, though, and I'd like to learn more about this Ekimo guy

  7. Don't worry Crazy Crew, I'm with you in spirit. <3 Also, good to know that Cyrix is still good at putting everybody in danger on impulse decisions, woo! I do like that we're going to Metru Nui, though.

For Question 1 I'll say B. because flying and stuff. For Question 2 I'll say A. because that one is the one that sounds the least harmful/fatal

  8.

Also I think the only time the Matoran ever fought alongside the Toa was out of necessity

That's generally the only time any good guy fights, including Toa. :P

    Haha, good point.

So what I'm getting is that because the Glatorian (I'm using Glatorian to refer to the species here because we never really got a name for their species) outnumber the Toa (for now) and because they have a better knowledge of the landscape, the Glatorian would still be pretty useful. And even in the far future, just because the Toa might be more powerful doesn't mean the Glatorian would stop protecting.

In a hypothetical far future where there were about the same amount of Toa and Glatorian and the MU species had inhabited Spherus Magna long enough to know the landscape, would the Toa be considered superior to the Glatorian? I'm kind of inclined to go with laredios' description that the Glatorian would be more low-level, local protectors, or they would work directly with the Toa.

  9. It's been established that Glatorian have GB augumentations (implants) so the power difference wouldn't be that huge.

I think the Agori would trust their old defenders more for a long time, as opposed these alien "heroes" who showed up. So the Toa and Glatorian will likely be sharing gaurd duty and adventures for years to come.

    From BS01:

The organic-protodermis and mechanical physiology of the Toa gives them much greater physical strength and endurance than their Glatorian counterparts, as well as superhuman durability. They also heal faster than Glatorian and other organic beings due to the properties of organic protodermis. The average Toa is strong enough to lift more than one ton.

I always assumed Glatorian were closer to peak human strength, or maybe just above that given their metallic bone structure, but even then in comparison more than a ton would be a lot. And yeah you're right that they would probably be pretty equal for quite a few years, but I was thinking farther into the future. Although maybe the Agori's loyalty to the Glatorian would create an irreparable rift between the two societies?

I thought Greg hinted or stated that Mata Nui had actually granted them innate powers, but that they were basically in denial of it. Not sure on that one though, but either way, they do have powers if they hold the weapons.

But keep in mind the Toa lived (and sometimes fought) alongside beings like Matoran who had no powers (or tool powers). If indeed they don't have innate powers, their strategy in battle would be different than Toa, but not that much.

I think I remember him hinting that somewhere, so maybe over time they would gain powers somehow. But I don't think their weapons would give then nearly as powerful control over an element as that of a Toa.

Also I think the only time the Matoran ever fought alongside the Toa was out of necessity when there previously had been no Toa to fight for them, such as on Voya Nui and Mahri Nui when the Matoran had been defending themselves for a while.

Additionally, as far as I know, there are a lot more glatorian around at the moment than toa.

Yeah, I think there's more than double the number of Glatorian than Toa at the moment (EDIT: I think I remember Greg saying there were about 100 on Bara Manga at the time of the 2009 storyline, but I'm not 100% sure on that), but I'd assume that the number of Toa would increase with time.

In the long term, the Toa outcompete them into extinction.

That is, barring some gamechanging evolutionary adaptation on the part of the Glatorian, perhaps.

    ~B~

Haha not that much of a happy ending in that case, but it may happen. Although I didn't really consider evolution; as primarily organic (and mammalian) creatures maybe the Glatorian would eventually evolve in such a way that would grant them powers.

  10. Whew, flexing my topic-making muscles for the first time in a while here.

So from what I understand, the Toa are basically superior to the Glatorian both in terms of physical strength and in terms of powers (considering the Glatorian have no natural powers of their own). After the MU and Spherus Magna societies have integrated into one society, what would be the place of Glatorian in that society? If the Toa are basically superior in every way, what role can the Glatorian even take? Would they simply become regular citizens? Or would they become lower-level guardians, maybe law-enforcement, while the Toa become more of a military power? I can't imagine that both the Glatorian and the Toa would be on the front lines together simply because of that huge power difference. Or maybe I'm over-analyzing and there would be no societal effect at all.

    Thoughts?

  11. haha wow this is pretty goo-

    ohhhhhhhhhhh nooooOOOOOOOOOOO

in all seriousness though this was a very fun read. nailed the personalities of all of the Toa

  12. Glad that I got a fittingly violent ending, fitting for a Triplet at least.

but dang the Shadow though did not see that one coming. High-octane end to a similarly high-octane story, with just enough loose ends to be satisfying but not infuriating.

and probably a good end to the entire mafia story idk about that, if i have the time maybe i'll go back and read them

  13. there is still hope for side character cyrix

Ehks' death was really well done, and from what I've seen in this story a pretty good conclusion to his character arc (I'd assume that it would have been much better had I read the other parts of the Mafia storyline). But no yeah things aren't looking good for anyone, like you warned us but dang

(also yay references! although i only counted two in this chapter, pinocchio and breaking bad, and even then they might not be direct intentional references but whatever)
