Hopefully I can keep the cardboard boxes in nice condition in the mean time.Question: Is anyone buying duplicates of the sets? I want to buy a second set of some of the Toa, so I keep one duplicate on a shelf, and the other in a box just in case they become very valuable a few years down the road.
Its a good idea. The Toa Mata sealed in their canisters can fetch over $100 in many cases. It all comes down to how popular this new line is, and what the demand is like in the future. I plan on getting maybe 3 or 4 of each mainly for MOCing, then possibly reselling later on.
Just put them in a storage bin. I "preserved" my entire Lego collection in decent quality storage bins for 11 years during my dark ages.

I basically have everything from 2001-2003 and now 2015.

Something else I should mention about the printed pieces is that they have some gorgeous metallic printing for the silver vents and the thin colored zigzag patterns, which catches the light differently from different angles. I'm always a fan of metallic printing, but here I feel it's particularly ornate and adds a lot of energy to the designs that you can't fully appreciate from photos and promotional art alone. Here's a pic of Gali's chest plate and here's a pic of Lewa's from my review for The New Elementary. Even in those pics it's hard to fully appreciate what this looks like when it's physically in front of you, but at least you hopefully will be able to see which part of the pattern I'm referring to.
I completely agree with you. The chest printing is beautiful and adds great detail to the figures.

A Toa of time is interesting, but I have a hard time imagining the Bionicle universe without the Light vs Dark theme.

The 2015 story will become more coherent as time goes on. I don't remember the Toa Mata having such a great story when they first launched, the story developed over time. The Toa Mata are iconic, there's no doubt about that, but the 2015 Toa have much more playability and much better construction techniques. I have never bought a Hero Factory set so the parts were all new to me, and I am only impressed.
Oh and the Throbots did not have a story, but they did pave the way for Bionicle.

Take it or leave it, no one is forcing anyone to love these new sets. There's no way that Bionicle could be rebooted without using existing elements, that's completely ineffective when it comes to keeping costs down. I personally feel like Lego did a fantastic job resurrecting Bionicle, infusing them with new pieces (new for Bionicle at least), while keeping the old feel and aesthetic of the first gen.

I've built a lot of smaller sets in cars over the years, as my dad would always have baseball caps in the back seat that I could use to hold the pieces. Titan-sized sets could also be built in a car using the opened boxes to hold the pieces.~B~
I have similar memories of building in the backseat of my parents cars. I know I built a couple of Toa and some smaller city vehicles. I also used to bring a bag of random pieces to build small MOCs. Oh those were the days!

Has anyone else had a minor problem with Kopaka's shoulder joints? For me they feel slightly loose compared to Onua's. When Kopakas posed and standing still they're fine and the arms stay in place, and they're even fine when I rotate the gears at slow speeds; but when I move his arms fast with the gear system they start moving around. Maybe its just the axel-hole ball joint that's the problem, if I recall correctly those pieces have historically been a little bit of a looser fit than normal ball joints.
Not yet, but I'll keep an eye out for that issue.

I can't understand why there would be complaints about the chest printing... You can't please everyone, but come on...

Keep in mind that the Gen 1 Bionicle sets were mostly based off of the Technic parts bin. Expect more exclusive parts for Bionicle in the future.

I really feel like the 2015 Toa have a ton of flair and personality. As a matter of fact, they make their predecessors look bland and quite outdated ( that's a given considering that the Toa Mata are 14+ years old). I will always love the 2001-2003 Toa Mata and Nuva, but this reboot was executed in a very stylized, polished, and respectful manner, definitely honoring the Original Toa.

The stickers aren't great, but it would have been great if Lego had just printed those parts. My main gripe is how the masks aren't very secure on the new heads.

I was a huge skeptic of this reboot. I can now say with great confidence that I was wrong. The new Toa are undeniably the real deal, but they have evolved to fit in with the times.

Quick question: when do retail stores usually restock their shelves in the beginning of a year? My guess is the 3rd or 4th day. No major retail stores in my area have the new bionicle waves in on shelves yet so just wonderin.
Your best bet is to call your local stores and just ask. I know it's a pain, but it'll save you a trip.
***by the way this is fenderbender336, I was able to get back on my old account.

Just a heads up, this is fenderbender336. I just got my old account up and running, hopefully some of you remember me! Oh and Toa of Light!!!

As a huge fan of the Elder Scrolls and Fallout 3, I would love to see Bethesda make a Bionicle game. I have complete faith in their know-how to make a fantastic world for the Bionicle franchise.
