  1. Wow. THis is truly amazing. I love the entire design of this thing. It looks vefry good and very impressive for using limited pieces. 9/10 from me!PS I love the jetpack!

Thank you! I'm glad you like it, and yes, I am quite proud of how the jetpack turned out. :P
  2. Try removing all green and dark bley from this guy, and it might look much better.

Yeah... I tried using the grey on his lower arms to offer contrast, but it is a tad jarring now that I think about it. I'll see what I can do with the color scheme.
  3. For your first new system MoC, it's quite impressive overall. Although the red bugs me, (probably because I own Jetbug and have grown used to his color scheme) I understand your lack of the necessary colors. One thing that irks me is that trans-green piece on the launcher-it seems a bit out of place. I LOVE the jet design-it manages to not only fit in but to enhance the rest of the MoC.

Yeah... The red kind of bothered me too for a while. But it also gives Jetbug a more... menacing look. Though when you don't have much of an alternative, you get used to it. I also put the green piece as part of a targeting device, so I wanted it to stand out some, but maybe I should swap it out for a softer color. Anyways, I'm glad you like the jet system, and thanks for the advice!
  4. So... The story behind this guy is fairly interesting. On Christmas morning my parents went out and got me two Hero Factory sets, Scorpio and Nitroblast. I wasn't fairly interested in the sets themselves, but in getting them I got to try out the new skeleton and armor system. Using the pieces, I was able to complete a special moc that I was working on for the past MONTH, but what about the rest? Well, looking at them, I realized I had all of the necessary pieces to make one of my favorite Hero Factory villains that I unfortunately never got the chance to buy, Jetbug. (Or at least a revamp, which I would have done if I got the Jetbug set itself ANYWAY.) So on that morning, I built Jetbug 2.0... without using a single piece from an actual Jetbug.scaled.php?server=32&filename=dsc0209lt.jpg&res=mediumThree quarter view:scaled.php?server=853&filename=dsc0210rd.jpg&res=mediumThree quarter view, opposite side:scaled.php?server=100&filename=dsc0211p.jpg&res=mediumBack view and jet engine detail:scaled.php?server=684&filename=dsc0212wd.jpg&res=mediumAnd now, some pose shots:Aiming...Epic sword slash!Jet-propelled slide/dodge/landing/whateverJump shotAs you can see, this guy is really fun to pose. Overall, for my first ever Hero constraction moc, I'm quite proud of this. How the community will feel? Well, that's why I'm posting this topic, isn't it? As such, comments and criticism are welcome and quite appreciated. Thanks for reading!EDIT: Images resized to forum standard. Sorry 'bout dat, folks.

  5. Really great - not only does it look good, but it is ... not "functional", but has a function. Neat idea to use the visor and gears for the sound. However, the colors are kind of all over the place. I suggest losing the yellow/orange, in any case. Grey or black would go well, but if you replace the visor with a white or tan one (I think they made tan ones) then those yellow/orange pieces could be made that color. Or, keep the blue, and make the whole gun (trans) blue, grey, and black. Since you use blue pin(s) anyway, that could be easiest. The design is very good (although socket blocks without bulbs, while they fit well, just don't look right) but the color thows it off. Much more unity ... at least make like pieces the same color (Technic wheels, sockets, gears, etc.)Anywhoo, great size, function, and overall MOC. a_peace.png

Ah, I was waiting for someone to say something about the socket pieces! haha I tend to do that a lot in my mocs as I think it works well as a filler pieces, but I haven't really seen anyone else do it. (I mean, it took Lego 9 years to start doing that to their sets) As I've said in the posts above, I don't really have the proper pieces to do anything about the color scheme. If I ever do, I'm going to revamp it and post the update later in another topic. But until then, there's not much that can be done about the color. I'm glad you like the gear function in it and thanks for the criticism.
  6. In addition, I think the crank is a little long. Can you make a video? I would really like to hear the sound!

Eh... True, but it's kind of hard to grip otherwise. The crank takes more power than it looks. But yes, I will see what I can do about uploading a video sometime next week, in addition to a new moc topic. :)
  7. Overall, the whole shape of the gatling gun is great. The blue Mahri visor looks good as an ammo-box-cover-thing, and the back is nice. But I think it would look better if there were less colors (make barrel blue, for example).

Really? I wasn't so sure about the visor, but I'm glad it turned out well. As I said above, I hope to one day get the pieces to fix up the color scheme, but at least the thing is functional. I'm glad you like the model, though.
I agree on with this on the visor. I thought it looked cool and was really creative. No need to worry that it looked out of place. As for the simulated gunfire noise, that's awesome. I always put aesthetics first on something like this, but you also squeezed in a cool little functionality on a nice-looking weapon. Only other thing that comes to mind is the color scheme, but that's not really a valid point considering you've already taken note of that and you were just throwing together some spare Technic pieces in the first place.
Yeah, that's something where most mocists and I disagree on, as I put functionality before aesthetics. The thing could be colored like The Joker and I wouldn't mind as long as it worked the way it was supposed to. But hey, everyone's entitled to an opinion. I'm glad you liked the model and thanks for the feedback.
  8. Nice work. I really love what you did with the head and color scheme. My only complaint is that I think it could do with more golden armor to make it fit in more with Ancient Egyptian artwork and style. I also think that a slightly bulkier back might help to give it a more bestial look, but it doesn't look bad by any stretch. I can't wait to see what you do with the rest of the series. 8/10

  9. Excellent work! While I think the Rhotuka could have been modeled to a better size and done without drilling, everything else is flawless. Enough detail to make it look like it's from the movie, but simple enough so it still seems like a canister set instead of a titan. (Which drives me crazy when people do that while revamping canister set...)All in all, I love what you did here. 8/10

  10. The Barraki were easily my favorite line of sets of all time. Their history was fascinating, their story was well developed, and their characters were unlike anything we've seen in Bionicle before. I mean, Roodaka was my favorite set of 2005 because of her personality, and then we get told that we now have a canister line of sets that were as bad, dirty, calculating, and outright evil as her, if not more so.The sets themselves too were phenomenal! They had unique, rather ingenious designs considering their price. And the designs actually had character to them. The faces, the weapons, the armor. You could actually see the personalities of the sets reflected through their appearance. And, while I'm probably going to be pelted with tomatoes for saying this, they had great launchers. Sure, they were difficult at first, but I liked that. A launcher that actually took skill to operate. Once I learned how to use them in the first month, I was able to hit targets with them 10 or even 20 feet away. I have not seen a single launcher preform that well and that accurately since then.I have come to own all six, making them my first line of canister sets that I managed to get a full collection of, but my first and favorite was Ehlek. I fell in love with him since the day I saw that prototype image of him on the cover of Bionicle Legends #6, and he is still to this day one of my favorite sets of all time.

  11. Excellent work. I personally like the first version better simply because it's more guitar shaped. The second design looks too much like a simple cannon. As for the models themselves, I really can't see any problems with these. Streamlined, yet complex. Not too big and MUCH better than Breakout Stringer's normal cannon. All in all, 10/10.

  12. The claw is what first caught my eye, as well as the launcher. Both are very creative. I like the build as well as the fact that you didn't use a Vorox head, but a Zesk head. As others have said before me, the tentacle looks very out of place yet you could probably justify it somehow (shadow powers?) or change it to the HF grey arms mentioned before in the replies.

Yeah... It looks like I might just have to revisit this guy later on down the road to correct it's problems, but I'm glad you like the overall model. While I didn't have a lot invested in the Vorox itself, I was quite satisfied with the launcher I made and I'm happy to see it get such great reception. Thanks for the comment. :)
  13. Very nice. A consistent colour scheme will make it look even more of a threat to deal with.

Yeah... Unfortunately, yellow and orange are the only colors I have of those wheel pieces, so I can't do much there. I'm hoping one day to replace them with something light-grey, and maybe change the barrels a different color. Thanks for the input.

  14. Not really much to say about this model. I had a lot of technic pieces leftover and so I made this out of boredom just as an accessorial figure. It has a crank on the side that not only causes the barrels to rotate, but also turns a gear against a ticker to simulate gunfire noise.scaled.php?server=42&filename=dsc0081hkt.jpg&res=mediumAlternate view:scaled.php?server=16&filename=dsc0082mh.jpg&res=mediumBack view:scaled.php?server=62&filename=dsc0083cb.jpg&res=mediumThe Mahri visor is set in place not only to protect the inner workings of the gun, but it also helps to create a unique sound as some of the gears grind along the edge causing an echo effect to the clicking, producing a more realistic sound.Back view, casing removed:scaled.php?server=844&filename=dsc0084hw.jpg&res=mediumAs you can see, the four-pronged technic gear rotates, lifting up the bohrok tooth "ticker", and causing it to slam back down (via rubber band) on the gear as each prong lifts and passes. Thus, each quarter turn of the four-pronged gear produces a click noise. And finally, a shot of my Stronius revamp using the gun to demonstrate how it's supposed to be held:scaled.php?server=823&filename=dsc0085vg.jpg&res=mediumAny comments or criticisms will be appreciated. A video of the the gun in action might be posted at a later date.

  15. I don't usually post in this forum, but I found a poem I wrote a while back that I wanted to share for one reason or another, I'm not exactly sure why. I wrote this poem a while back as a time capsule, a message to my future self to make sure I stay on the right path and to never lose heart. You might not see that in the poem at first, but it's there. In it's own strange, unknown way, it's definitely there."Don’t follow meMy path is barrenIt’s long since died and turned to ashI cannot change the foot I step down withSo I cannot change the prints I leave behindThe man told me,Under darkest night,Under turning tideNow granted, I gave my shareNot always to the right address, but my heart was still in the right placeStill, so much pain I left in my wakeWhether it was because I refused to changeOr rather that I tried too hardEither way, I left my markThe man told me,Under darkest night,Under turning tideI’m not sure why I tell you thisHalf of it is meaningless rambleI’m sure I threw in a clever line or twoMaybe I mentioned a phrase that made you thinkBut take it as a whole and you see how meaningless my life wasAnd put it into the grand scheme and you see how meaningless all life isThe man told me,Under darkest night,Under turning tideWell, my time has come so I must be moving onI apologize for pilfering your precious timeBut what is life but the master thief of time?Son, if you take anything away from this rambling, just keep in mindThat nothing is written in stoneBut it is written in soft clayYou are capable of righting wrongsYou can dream your past awayBut all that really does is compound the print that was already thereAnd once you get to the end of the line,That clay will harden at last, and you’ll end up like meThe man with the misshapen foot,And the long trail of prints as a testament to its disgraceHalf-heartedly arranged to make it seem like a beautiful designBut all it really does is confuse the people who succeed youThe man told me,Under darkest night,Under turning tideAs that man walked away, I looked down at the path he was talking aboutAnd I saw how worn it really wasIt struck me that one man couldn’t have done thisThat this must have been the work of several menTrudging down the same path as that man had done just nowAnd that’s when I realized that he wasn’t the only man to have walked that pathHe was just the latest one to have set in his printsHe was just the latest one to be left confused by the prints that had proceeded before himAnd so, that man left meUnder darkest night,Under turning tide"Any comments or criticisms you might have are appreciated and I hope you enjoyed the poem, or at least got something out of it.

  16. As others said, the tentacle is rather clashing with the rest of the MOC. Other than that it looks cool. I love this claw. It's a good idea to use a Zesk helmet for a Vorox, too. It works well.

Yeah, I kind of see that now. I mostly did it because I couldn't find a better color for it, but in retrospect I guess I could have used Metru grey limbs for it. I'm glad you like it, though. I've been wanting to use a Zesk helmet in something for quite a while now.

A neat MOC, with color scheme that works well considering the history of the Vorox. He looks devolved, and as if he had been accumulating new weapons and such. I like the silver/tan/grey because it is convincing - that is how I would expect a desert dweller to look. Low contrast is good here. The tail/tentacle, primarily because it is black, isn't very cohesive, both in itself and with the MOC. Try grey HF limbs - it would make it look and articulate better. a_peace.png

True. I didn't have any at the time, though. But as I've said, at least Metru grey limbs would work better. I am glad that the accumulation effect shows in this, though. I was trying to go for a sort of "Mad Max" vibe building it, and I wasn't quite sure if I pulled it off properly. Thank you for the feedback. :)
  17. Haha Cute. It has a very Throwbots-like feel to it, which being a retro Lego fan, just speaks out to my heart. While I like the weapons you put on it are very nicely done, I couldn't really see this as a battle mech with it's lack of armor. Work bot? Of course. Scout? Maybe. But that's really about it. Though seeing it's overall style, I think that it really shouldn't be bulked up. All in all, it's a fun little MOC. 8/10Oh, and welcome back to BZP. :)

  18. The left hand is awesome and the way the Zamor Sphere launcher is put together is pretty clever. The only downside to the MOC is that the tentacle is way too long.

Yeah, I originally made it that long so that it could wrap around other canister-sized sets all the way around, but it does make posing... interesting. I also designed the Zamor Launcher to accommodate Thornax to resemble the prototype models of the first Glatorian line. I absolutely love Thornax, but the final launchers I was not so happy with.Anyways, I am glad you like the rest of it. Thanks!
  19. Yeah, this model isn't anything too terribly special. I threw it together one afternoon while I was waiting for my friend to come pick me up. I haven't thought of a name for it, so suggestions are welcome. But seeing as this is essentially a throw away MOC, I am not particularly driven to name it either. It was dismantled for pieces shortly after being made, so there are only a few pictures of it. It was made to be a Vorox alpha male, and it's weapons include a large claw, a makeshift Thornax Launcher, and a long, whip-like tentacle on it's forearm.EDIT: It's name is going to be Kervahnka, as suggested by "Voxumo The Frozen One".vorox.jpgAnd additionally, a pose shot: (Link)Any comments or criticisms are appreciated.

  20. This is incredible! The armor is a little messy and all over the place, but that also lends to an almost Terminator/live-action Transformers type feel to it. Really if you just trimmed some of the armor on it so it was more formfitting to your wrist, I think it would look a lot better. I am also impressed with the functionality on it. It's things like this that make me wonder why people don't use rubber bands in their creations more often. Ah well.Back on subject, I love the concept behind it, but it could use a little work in the aesthetics department. All in all, I rate it a 7.5/10.

  21. The no-religion rule more refers more to members not being allowed to discuss/practice/advertise their religions on the site, because it can lead to serious arguments and flame wars.If the name indirectly references it, then it should be fine; however, if you're unsure, you could pm one of the forum mentors. As for the cross on the weapon, that would be okay. -ibrow

That's what I thought, but I just wanted to be sure. I will probably still ask a forum mentor just to be safe. Thanks. :)
  22. As the title suggests, I wanted to ask something that I'm not quite sure about. I have an MOC that I was considering posting to the BBC forum, but the model's name indirectly references old Christian mythology and it has a cross on it's weapon. I'm not exactly sure if this would be in violation of BZP's "No Religious Discussion" rule or not. Can anyone give me a more specified answer on this?
