so i got LEGO Dimensions for the Xbox 360 today and when plugging in the game pad I accidentally "dropped" the xbox and the disk came out of alignment and seems to have gotten scratched

now I don't know what to do. i can't just get a whole new starter pack just for the game disk and i was really looking forward to playing this...

I was so busy trying to win something and so elated that I managed it that I missed what I actually won.

I think I heard the name "Nuju" but I'm not sure.

(I was capitanozakitano for those curious, the one who answered the Beware the Swarm question. I should really contact Six i think? or does he contact me?)

She was the latest in casualties of a violent, hateful war against people like us and her death is heartbreaking in its horrificness.

If this entry is not allowed by BZP rules, please let me know, but it had better be a darn good reason.

Over on LEGO Ideas, my Fossil Museum project has hit over 1000 supporters in a mere week! At this rate of support, I could hit 10,000 in nine more weeks! In celebration, I did something I'd been meaning to do for a while: draw up a rough design for the torso print for the Paleontologist.

The eagle-eyed among you probably notice the similarity between this design and my earlier self-minifigure. I freely admit to living my dream through this minifigure. If LDD had the capabilities, I also would have made the arms two-tone so she could avoid wearing long sleeves with shorts, which is a weird thing. She also has a Velociraptor claw around her neck. It's very rough because I am not the best artist, but it gets the idea across.

Thank you to all my supporters!

Stopped by the library today to return The Breakfast Club and while I was there I checked out a volume of the Transformers More Than Meets The Eye comics. After reading it, I was so caught up in an overwhelming desire to take part in capitalism I stopped by target and bought a couple of Transformers toys (with my focus being Whirl, who appears in the comic.)

Whirl is nice, with all the usual upsides of Voyager-class toys: full articulation, decent transformation, overall polished look. My biggest complaint is he comes with a ton of stickers, most of which are smaller than a sliver of pinky nail, none of which are any fun at all to apply. Also, after reading David Willis's review, I am extremely cautious when transforming the legs; lord knows I don't want to shell out another 25 dollars because of fragile knees.

Bombshell is fun almost entirely because he turns into an insect and it is a very nice insect. I don't even care about any other aspect of him just. A+ insect that turns into a robot.

Legends-class Strongarm unexpectedly is about as fun to transform as her Warrior-class toy, and actually very nice for a two-inch-tall Transformers toy.

Between Bionicle coming back and my newfound appreciation for Transformers, I've bought a lot of toys. This seems like it probably says something about me as a person.

messing with LDD some more. This started as an attempt to make a character from a game I'd played recently but the wings grew increasingly frustrating so I decided to let it rest like this for now.

This design is only really practical in LDD; the massive amount of hinge plates would make it sort of shift shape. Still, I did manage something wing-like. If I'm going to finish the character, though, I need to keep extending inward to almost a tapering point to match the wing shape. Also, the flesh color doesn't quite match the color it's supposed to but i was having trouble matching it.

finally saw it. it was pretty good. Metalbeard was everything I hoped he would be.

(I'm very disappointed in the ways Metalbeard's set differs from his movie counterpart, particularly the cannon array, which I'm pretty sure is much more stable in the movie design.)

figured it had been a while since my last change, and I recently played FE:A, so why not? Besides, it complements my name on another site.

The only downside is my username no longer matches my custom member title, but I should be eligible for a new one because of my MOCs on the circuit anyway so it shouldn't trouble me for too long.

(I edited out a racist word, though I left the N, and I hope that's ok.)

Basically, don't bring up MLK Jr. until you know EVERYTHING he stood for, or you'll bring him up in a way that would have him rolling in his grave.

I'm leaving this entry unlocked, so I hope y'all can behave.

After the T. rex skeleton thing, Izaak suggested I make a whole bunch of minifig-scale dino skeletons, so I started. I then put it on hold because it ended up being more difficult than I anticipated, and only just now got back to it, with the first almost-completed skeleton to show for it.

The white probably won't stick around; it makes it recognizable as bones, but fossils aren't white. They're brown, or tan, or some rocky color. The final version will probably be Brick Yellow, Sand Yellow, or Reddish Brown.

This, a Triceratops, and a small theropod originally intended to be a Velociraptor are all I have in progress so far, but also in planning is a Diplodocus and possibly an Allosaurus or similarly-sized theropod.

the final destination in mind for this is a Cuusoo project so there's an option out there for people who want decent-quality accurate dinosaur skeletons available.

the twist at the end of the Karda Nui arc would have been so much more of a twist if it werent for the fact that ever since 2005 Makuta popped up to say "all according to keikaku"

and if not him someone else would come along to say "yep this is it this is makuta's plan"

really the only thing that kept it a surprise was that we didnt know the universe was in a giant robot

So! They recently described a specimen of a new large dromaeosaurid from a formation I unfortunately cannot name on BZPower. It was a contemporary of Tyrannosaurus rex, and it notably preserves quill knobs on the arm bone, giving us direct evidence of feathers. As a very close relative of Utahraptor, and of comparable size, it's safe to conclusively say anyone claiming Utahraptor was too big to be feathered is a moron.

Anyway, since I occasionally dream of being a palaeoartist, here's my reconstruction of it, based on the skeletal in the paper and with colors/patterns based on the Northern Potoo. (Highly simplified, obviously.)

(im a little disappointed at the differences between the set and the movie, especially those that shouldn't have been too hard to incorporate. still, best amputee character ever)
