    Pre-NYCC

    Travel was ok, and am now staying at my big's apartment. So very excited for tomorrow, and can't thank TLG and BZP enough for this once in a lifetime opportunity!

    Life's being life.
     
    As in that things are happening. Got to finish The Bone Clocks by David Mitchell and loved it, I'm getting ready for NaNoWriMo (want to win it a second time), am DMing a D&D game with some friends, got to build a life-sized model of K9 and dress as Ten alongside it (here be an example),

    am competing with the Forensics Team with two topics I love, and am getting so excited for NYCC and just to spend time in NYC with other BZPers and school/college friends.
     
    In terms of some bad (or less than stellar stuff), I haven't been getting much sleep. I also have had some medical scares that aren't always fun. Have a bad grade in Science, and have to do Selective Withdrawal on Arabic 250 (don't get me wrong, I love the language, but over the past year and a half I haven't had the chance to really study and understand it, and I can't afford to have my GPA suffer).
     
    But hopefully with one less class and more time to sleep/do homework, things will get back on track. There's good and bad patches in life, and I think I'm exiting a bad one and heading to a better one.
     
    ANYWHO, this was me just rambling on. NOW I PREPARE FOR NYCC!

    On Meeting David Mitchell

    If you know some facts about me, one of those might be my freakishly great love for Cloud Atlas (the book and the movie). I could rave about both and their merits, but that'd take more than one blag post.
     
    So you can imagine my joy when I heard David Mitchell would be appearing at D.C. to promote his new book. I squealed.
     
    So I got almost late to the event but made it, and had a wonderful time. Mitchell is such a humble and fabulous person, and I respect him much more for being such a unique author and wonderful person. He also answered my question, and gave me some quotations I won't forget for a long time.
     
    And here's what he signed in my copy of The Bone Clocks

     
    So as I head to CT to judge a high school tournament in Yale during the weekend, I will be devouring this book. I might rematch Cloud Atlas too.

    So I started Sophomore year of cawledge about a week ago, but on Thursday I left on a trip.
     
    If you didn't know before, I compete for George Mason's Forensics Team (no, not CSI-forensics). It's competitive public speaking (think Speech & Debate but in college). At the start of the year we go for four to five days to southern Maryland for a special team-wide retreat. The title of the blag entry refers to the fact that the house in which the coaches stayed was called Valhalla (and the name fit perfectly for the house. It was UH-MAY-ZING).
     
    Anywho, we use the time to take pics of the team and the people so we can use them on the team's site, but one of the pictures of all the officers on the team ended up looking like we were the cast of a sitcom, so I can't help myself but share the image with y'alls.

    After the 'last' day of BrickFair (by which I mean that we went to the Library of Congress and the Supreme Court with Thomas (Sumiki) and his parents, then got a library card for the LIBRARY OF CONGRESS I AM SO EXCITED and then got to watch 'Guardians of the Galaxy' finally), I can finally say that my energy batteries have been recharged.
    Every year I look forward for summer so I can go back to GMIF and BrickFair. In both events I get to reconnect with such kind, creative, and brilliant souls, and I adore every second I spend with them in those magical places.
     
    But now, the resting time is over. My three-and-a-half week hedonistic period is over, and it is time to go back to work and focus on sophomore year!
    One last things, though: Let's be honest, we are all Groot.

    Now that you're up-to-date, you have a chance in playing a part in this year's Omnibus. Not only will we be releasing waaaaay too many Vine videos this year, but you can choose what we do in one of them!

    BrickFair VA Seminar

    So I'm back from working nonstop for 2.5 weeks at a summer camp we lovingly nicknamed The Island (because you can't ever get off HAHAHA WE THINK WE'RE FUNNY).
     
    SO NOW THAT THAT'S DONE I can resume working on my seminar for BrickFair VA, as well as that SUPER SECRET PROJECT SUMIKI AND I ARE WORKING ON.
     
    But yeah, I'm doing a panel on the impact LEGO has had/can have on our lives (I call the panel 'Another Brick In The Wall' HAHAHA I THINK I'M FUNNY SOMETIMES). There will be some learning, a lot of BIONICLE references (to the chagrin of pretty much any attendee of the panel who isn't a Bonkle fan), and maybe we'll all learn something about friendship once it's said and done.
     
    So if you're an exhibitor, and you've got the time, come over to my panel. I promise to try and make it interesting/funny/there might be a giant wormhole opening by the end of it.
