    [You're Too Slow!]

I'm gonna try a new format for my alternate titles, just to mention. Hopefully nothing eventually corresponds to an actual tag. ^^'

Anyway... So, one reason I've been off more than normal the last few days, is because of Sonic, specifically Sonic Generations, since I got that a few days ago.

Second reason, but more so why I haven't been on at night sometimes, would be Megaman 2. I CAN in fact defeat Airman, so take that as you will. It was on Difficult, and without the Leaf Shield. Put Item 2 to use, as well. =P

Third reason? I finally got Super Smash Bros. Brawl working again! Which means I can once again spend time to try to get 50-100 hours in multiplayer only, with no-one to crush fight against except the Bots. =P They really didn't make that easy to do, since Classic Mode, All Star Mode, Boss Battles, Subspace, and even WI-FI of all things doesn't work for that goal. ._.; Ah well; nearly to 20 hours as it is, then I'll just need 10 more.

That said, I'm nearly to the end of the unlocks, which saddens me. =( I want to eventually play through again, but I'm not sure how... Might be with the Wii U, but there's no way I'll be getting that any time soon, and without the Gamecube Controllers, I can't play Brawl as it should be played(No Classic Controllers unfortunately. I really need to get one, yes, but...), and I can't play my Virtual Console games, period, except for the handful of NES games I have, so I won't be transferring my data likely.

If I'm lucky, I'll be able to get a Classic Controller Pro soon enough, but since I just got two new Gamecube Controllers, there's no rush, except for Monster Hunter Tri. So yeah. =P

Back to Sonic, though, playing Generations has really gotten me back into a Sonic mood. I'm wanting to find a Sonic avatar now, and finish the games I have once again. Yes, I may have forgotten to mention it in the past, but I'm a Sonic fan. =P Just not once of those crazy ones that seem to be everywhere nowadays. xD

    Alternative Titles: Category Time Again

So, some people may have been wondering why I haven't been on Steam, despite obviously having it, since I got it for Portal back in September. Well, I kinda forgot my password. Which is never fun.

But, I have it back! =D I can now enjoy all the awesomeness that Steam has - to a point. My computer, while being better clocking in with two 3 GHz processors, 2 GB of RAM, and an outdated video card, is still held back... Specifically by the outdated video card. =P

... Also, my internet isn't the greatest. I've always known that. Well, I confirmed it today, started to download TF2 at around 8, 8:15-ish, and it's only completed 15% now. =/ It wasn't kidding when it said 5 hours...

So, if the alternate title didn't give it away, I've been playing more TF2. Specifically as Heavy. I believe my current best game was as Heavy, too. =P Or at least, mostly as heavy, since it doesn't always switch.

However, I amend my statement in the previous Steam blog entry. Pyro is my favourite attacking class; sure, it doesn't have the speed of Scout, but with the Pyro, you can burn stuff. =D I earned a good few things that way, including the ironic achievement of 'Camp Fire'. =P

Also, just to mention it, if anyone wants to add me, I'm BZP Blade on there. I'm up for a few matches, if I'm not playing Portal or something. =)

Speaking of Portal, I beat that a couple days ago, and am working on the Advanced levels now. =)

Alternate Titles: Five TF2 Matches Later...

So, yeah, Team Fortress 2 works! It was kinda laggy for me, but it downloaded perfectly, and nothing outside of things in-game blew up, so I'd say it worked well! Now, the question now, is whether to stop here for the moment and download Portal and try that out, or just keep getting better at TF2.

Also, apparently I do better with the Engineer than anyone. I had like 10 kills with no deaths, thanks to my inventions. =P

Alternative Title: Wow I'm Still Doing The Alt Titles

So, the Steam Summer sale is very cool. Main thing I'm annoyed about right now is not waiting for that Sonic bundle, but I think I've gone on about that long enough now, so I'm just gonna drop it. =P

Also, I never really talked about it much, but I think the Trading Card system is rather interesting. It could be better, with a more standardized booster pack drop system, but it's not that bad, and actually gives a use for the badges. =) The way they're handling the summer sale's badge is interesting, though. Not likely to get more than one level on the badge, but I'll have one for sure, provided I don't mess up and forget to vote at one point. =P

Next, Minecraft; it's new update is cool! Except for the fact that one server's waiting on a reset, the other on bukkit to update like two months from now, and, uh, I guess that's all the servers I go on. =P I hate zombies now. I expect to be hating Spiders or Creepers more in 1.7, judging by the recent updates. =P

Also, I was briefly captured by the Dread Pirate 'skfer' and he destroyed my lack of HL2 Episodes 1 and 2. He was a Dalek Pirate in an interesting turn of events, it seems.

So... Been messing around with virtual machines since the weekend, which admittedly is partly why I haven't been here during the day since then. =P Lemme just tell you what I've been doing. =P

    Ubuntu:
Saturday: VMware Player's installed, yep, downloaded Ubuntu 11.10, yep. Installing... Two hours later, it finished. After a reboot or two, I decided I'd install the tools so that I could do things. That's when the trouble started. =P I haven't used Linux in like a year, so, well, I kinda forgot some of the commands. >>; So, I had to use help and man like 100 times before I could figure out how to un-tar the package. Eventually, I decided to un-tar it to the main directory, and then it worked(After, I finally figured out the command to do that. =P). And then I couldn't figure out how to activate them. ; However, after about half an hour, I figured out how to activate it, after trying multiple other things. It never dawned on me at first to simply type the name. =P 'course, it wanted Super User, but... Didn't I just say, sudo fixes everything? =P So finally it all worked.

Since it was late, I decided to just leave it, and try and download the game thing I had wanted. And boy is that Ubuntu Software Centre awful. ; It takes like a minute or two to open with 384 MB RAM(Since I can't really spare much more than that, given I have to support my main OS as well), and then you have to go into different categories in the software thing, to find what you want. And then it's not even in alphabetical order. >_^ So, I finally track down the game, which was luckily in Role Playing this time(It wasn't even there back in 10.04). Install it. About 10 minutes later, since the thing's slow to install, I finally get that Software Centre closed. Go to the dash, which is really hard to navigate until you figure out the tricks to finding everything, and load the game up. Yeah, that's the next problem I had; it just continually froze on me. Of course, at that point, I hadn't found the Software Monitor, so I could only close it by logging out. Uninstalled it, and decided to just tyr again the next day.

Sunday: Oh boy. So, I got up, went back on the VM, everything worked perfectly. Then I decided to try Konquest, since it'd been a few years since I played that last. It installed fine, no problems. Launched fine. However, it ate up CPU at times as well, which, given the constant Unity panel it uses as the dash thingy on the side, wasn't really helpful, and it did freeze up a time or two, but overall worked. But then I tried that new media player they put on... Banshee I think it is? That took like 2 minutes to load when Konquest was open, and I didn't try after. However, when I tried to play a song, it was 'playing' it... But, you could tell it was having trouble playing it, since you only got like seconds of song compared to 30 seconds of dead air. =/ So, I closed that, went through part of a game of Konquest, but I had set the place to be way too open, so it was taking too long. Tried a second game, and epic failed as I lost in like the 10th round, and it then froze permanently on me. 0_o I decided to close that then, and try other things.

That's when I headed back to that other game, again. Tried to download it again, and once again it worked perfectly downloading and installing. But actually running it? Nope. Epic failed once again. It's like it couldn't read the server list correctly or something... Though it might be related to the theme it was using... I've had a few problems in it freezing on other versions of it when I change it's theme to be one that's not epic fail. So, I closed that, and tried again multiple times. Same result. I even tried to download one of the other versions that I was almost certain would work; but it wouldn't even configure so I could compile it. xD That's when I uninstalled it. Unlike the night before, which had given me tons of trouble since the Software Centre's uninstallation tool is very hard to work with, it actually uninstalled properly. So, I checked to make sure I even had GTK. I seemed to, but again, the Software Centre is fail, especially with finding stuff. So it wasn't really much help. However, in searching for that, I finally found the Synaptic Package Manager, and installed that without a second's hesitation. Once it was installed, and I launched it, I found the GTK stuff near-instantly. =P Tried to install the game through that as well, but it simply gave the same result, much to my disappointment, which leads me to think there was either no RAM left at all for the game at 384 MB(With the OS also running), or the current version just has some breaking glitch when running on my fail computer, on Ubuntu 11.10, at 384 MB RAM. =P

So, that's when I tried to move the VM onto my shiny new external Hard Drive. And to compound my day of fail, even that wouldn't work. Eventually, it was found out that since the drive used a FAT(32?) filesystem, it wouldn't support the 20 Gib Database file the VM needed. So, I had to delete the VM anyway. Wasn't too worried about it, since I wanted to start over anyway, so I deleted the stuff, and after waiting about an hour for the latest version of Knoppix to download, I used that as a base.

    Knoppix:
Sunday: Well, I must say, this got off to a much better start. Since it's intended as a live CD, it loaded pretty much near-instantly, aside from the obvious boot sequence. But still faster than Ubuntu. =P And that speed just transitioned into the actual OS navigation, as everything was much faster than having to wait 30 seconds for stuff to load(Like the Home Folder) on Ubuntu. This was pretty much instantaneous. And to boot, Synaptic was actually default, as it should be. Didn't have any games or such pre-loaded, unlike what I remember, but I don't really care about that. Went to the package manager, spent a little time to figure out how to get it to show the packages that weren't simply pre-installed, and then downloaded the game again, albeit a slightly earlier version. SUCCESS! It actually loaded, though I quickly broke it again by trying to change the layout, and then spent a long time to try and find out where it's data folder was located. After combing the disk, and finally finding and deleting the glitched settings file, I finally got into play, and while it did seem to run slower than if it was actually a live disk(Since it's only tapping into not even half of the RAM that should be available), it indeed worked. So I played that for a while.

That's when I tried to install it to the Hard Drive. Oh boy. ; Well, for the most part, it worked alright. It indeed created a new partition, and then installed to that. Even though that took like half an hour. But then it rebooted. Not a problem typically, right? It's just a reboot? *Sighs* Remember that third title I suggested? Another Kernel Bites The Dust? Yeah, that's what happened here. =P Though I didn't know it then, all I saw was it taking like half an hour to boot, which wasn't normal. I simply shut it down, though, since it was like 10:30 then.

Monday: Wow. I quickly checked everything I needed to, and then I booted up my VM again. It just did the exact same thing, which made me wonder what was going on. So, after a couple tries, and reboots, I tried to manually boot it. Which, is a VERY bad idea when you have no clue what you're doing in that command line interface. I had no clue where the kernel thing was located, nor did I have a clue what half those other options were. The one command I became very familiar with was 'reboot'. =P After a little searching, and a weird place to look, I finally found the kernel. Tried a different one to start, but that just returned an error and kicked me back to the boot screen. So, I just changed it back. And then I tried to type that in the manual boot screen. That's when the fun started. It finally realized I had found a kernel, and when I hit boot, it worked. However, that's also when the reason for it freezing up became apparent. As it was loading everything, it suddenly paused, and started flashing caps and scroll lock on and off on my keyboard. Which seemed odd, so I read some of the text. 'Kernel panic'. Of course. ; So, I tried the other kernel file i saw. Same result. *Sigh* So, I just deleted that VM. Take three!

... Of course, I haven't tried to re-install that again, as I have no clue what partitioning and boot stuff to use, as seemingly the defaults are fail for this. =P Also, take note that I have nothing else on this VM, which is likely why it's been working perfectly for me since that, because it's just a 'CD' running over a seemingly empty Hard Drive. =P Just mentioning, because I can't do something like put a partition on it from Windows; because to the VM; there is no Windows. Like there is no spoon, or the cake is a lie.

    See? Fixes everything! =P
  7. Blessed Blade
So; I've been playing Galaxy 2 recently.

I've gotten up to 100 stars, and am nearing the end of World 6. Not too great, but considering I haven't been playing it all that long, and when I do, I've only been playing for... maybe 3 hours each day(Though since it's the weekend, I played longer yesterday and today. =P); I'd say that's a good job. =)

Also, if anyone's seen that challenge for Galaxy 2 that's on the Nintendo Channel for the Wii... I did that same challenge. Didn't have nearly as hard a time on it, aside from the weird gravity sections.

I also did it the first time, to boot. =P

Other Titles: Don't Worry - More Half Life Soon

I might have mentioned this, but I know I haven't mentioned this in my Blog. I now have Tetris Axis, and yes, I know, my blog sidebar really needs to be updated(Might do that next week or after Christmas). However, that doesn't matter. The main thing is that I have the game. It's very good, and the online is awesome, though I've been neglecting it only because I got it like a week before Skyward Sword released, and then got to playing an Xbox, and... Yeah. Things have just been hectic gaming-wise. =P

Dunno if anyone else here has the game, but I'm mentioning it anyway, and I'm up for a match if anyone wants to play me. I'm not the worst, however. =P(Haven't been doing the greatest online, but that's mostly because I'm not used to the battle mode yet. =P)

Alternative Titles: What Is This No Doctor Who Category Must Fix This Problem.

    -=Entry=-

Well, that was certainly an awesome episode. Since that line was in the trailer, I feel comfortable actually posting it, but otherwise, I'm going to stick to non-spoilers for the entry; however, that was certainly an epic way to start off the series. =D
  10. Blessed Blade
    I can't believe it. I don't have a Doctor Who category. =O Now I do. =)

Anyway; The Pandorica Opens was on last Saturday; and The Big Bang will be on in two days.

Don't wanna spoil any of it, since it's so awesome, but for the one thing I will mention... Spoiler tags.

  11. Blessed Blade
    So, I just went through and got all of the blogs that weren't disabled marked as read. All 90+ pages of them. Why did I do it? I have absolutely no clue, I guess I was too bored for even Picross to help... ;-;

now, if you'll excuse me, I think I need to reboot Firefox, it's complaining a bit about the sheer amount of stuff that's happened since the last reboot.
  12. Blessed Blade
I forgot 'bout the blog. Again.

Also, I got the second chappie done of Curse of Destiny a while back, but then... forgot to write more. Also, I'll debut it in March, also possibly writing new chapters if I don't get them all done now >_>''

Bleach went to it's fourth opening the other day, and it's awesome

    /EDIT: Whoops, forgot category >_>

Other Titles: You Can Link Blogs To Topics Now?, I Nearly Had No Other Titles, Is This What I Think It Is?

I just want to test this.

    Substitute Shinigami Badge

I also kinda wanna show off the badge a little, but it's mostly to test. =P I just noticed that in one of the new topics in GD, there was a link to a blog entry that was apparently about the topic; and that's new. So, obviously I wanted to try it, since that'd be cool. =D So... Yeah. =P

    /EDIT: Oooh. I was mistaken, there's actually an option to do it in the topic itself, so... I'm doing it wrong! =P Well, uh, whoops. >>; I may wanna keep this to show I was wrong, in execution, but it is possible. You just need to use the 'blog this' link in the topic itself. ;

Other Titles: I'm On A Boat, Those Head Crabs Can't Catch Me!

I told you guys more Half Life 2 stuff would be here soon. =P

So, I made it to Water Hazard. And I have no clue where I'm going. =) Well, actually, apparently I'm heading to the scene of the crime from last game, which is very interesting. But yeah, I'm finally out of Route Kanal, which is good. Head Crabs were but a distraction.
  15. Blessed Blade
Other Titles: I'm Getting Shot At By A Second Helicopter

So, I got through two parts of that complex I've had to go through to open the gates. Now I'm getting attacked by a helicopter shooting at me(The second, I believe I shot down the first. =P), and also dropping bombs. Which doesn't help me making a jump, as it knocks me off track. That isn't the worst part, though, the part directly after... The copter keeps shooting at me, and somehow hitting me each time. 0_o Which is weird, because I've been doing a fairly good job of avoiding it 'til now. =P
  16. Blessed Blade
Other Titles: Fast Headcrab Zombies Are Fast

So, yeah, been moving through Ravenholm at a very fast speed. About as fast as those agile headcrab zombies move, which is, to say, very fast. I mean, I was hearing about how they were fast, but I honestly didn't expect them to be that fast, a pleasant surprise.

My first reactions when I saw the first one. "Oh, look at that, that must be one of those quick zombies from the way it's jumping. *Readies brick*"

    Next moment?

    "AAAAAAAAH MY FACE!!"

I died in the weird section with that whirling blade. A lot. Was stuck there for a while until I realized that a part of that balcony? Yeah, that was a switch. You pull that to make things happen. Yeah.

On the bright side, when I got to the graveyard, I blew myself up like 5 times trying to fling an explosive barrel... It's red and has an explosive symbol on the side for a reason, people. Those things hurt when they blow up.
  17. Blessed Blade
Alternative Titles: Well At Least I Know My Comp's Better Than Cholie's Old Computer.

    -=Entry=-

So, yeah, remember last year, when I was playing through Half-Life 2, and I put up those Ravenholm entries? They're baaaaaaack. Thanks to me trying out HL2's demo(So that I know what it's like on my computer, given I was playing it on the Xbox last time), I am now back in Ravenholm. The sawblades are just as awesome as I remember. The headcrab zombies scare me more than I remember. And there are mysterious flies I don't recall hearing. Must be the earphones. =P

I may make this into a series like the Blenders, the Master Sword(Which I still need to photograph, now that it's brought up...), the Steam entries recently, and Minecraft. We'll see how well I handle Ravenholm. =P

(Also, the tags fit perfectly. =D)
  18. Blessed Blade
Alternative Titles: Because If I Delay This For Another Little While Then The Demo Will Be Over.

    -=Entry=-

So, yeah, continuing on. I accidentally failed, and fell to the ground, right in the midst of a moderator of headcrabs, zombies, and all that good stuff. With my saw blade up on the ledge I had fallen from.(I was trying to grab an explosive barrel, give me a break. >>')

After 50 dodges form zombies later, I managed to finally kill them all, and two minutes later, since I'm blind and can't see a ladder on a wall(Hmm, that sounds oddly familiar...), I move on. Moving on, killing zombies with bricks and another trusty Saw blade...

And then the Quick Zombie shows up. I see them jumping around. I ready myself, since I took a zombie to the face the last time I played. And yet again it startled me! ... Of course, since it's on the computer, and I'm playing with a mouse and keyboard, my reflexes kicked in, and it took a Saw Blade to the face because it saw me(Get it? Saw Blade? Saw, Blade? ... Okay, this is a tough crowd, I get it.), and died a painful death. Or painless, one or the other. I shot it with the blade again, just to make sure, of course. =P

Now, the only odd thing about this, is that it's showing the 'download has paused' for the demo, yet I've been playing it all along, and checking the DL manager in Steam shows it's downloaded all of the data. 0_o weird glitch, it'll likely go away when I restart Steam.
  19. Blessed Blade
Alternative Titles: Now On Hard Mode!

    -=Entry=-

So, I decided to play Ravenholm on hard mode. Not as bad as I thought, but still a bad idea, because of barrels.

Death 1: Killed by accidentally picking up and firing lit explosive barrel. Zombies denied kill.
Note 1: I just accidentally the game.
Death 2: Killed by explosive barrel being lit and exploding near me. Zombie assist.
Note 2: I accidentally the game again.
Death 3: Killed by explosive barrel, trying to kill poison headcrabs
Note 3: ... Is it just me, or do those barrels just not like me? Didn't break the game this time, though. =P
Death 4: Yet another explosive barrel, by accidentally falling to the ground and attempting to launch the barrel.
Note 4: Yes, another barrel death.
Death 5: One more barrel death. Except this time, I was still on the ledge. Dunno how I died.
Note 5: Have no clue how this happened. 0_o

So, yeah, my new nemesis isn't the fast zombies, or the poison headcrabs... It's the explosive barrels. =P
  20. Blessed Blade
I think I know exactly what my next name change will be. =)

I just have to figure out how to get the avvie I need... Don't care about the banner; almost never use one anyway. =P
