Other Titles: Maybe Playing This After Other M Was Released Was Good After All

Intriguing. Samus makes a direct mention to Fusion being the second time she took orders from someone. Which, even though Other M was released years later, is a direct tie to that(And one that was intentional, I believe =P). Which is very cool, and ties the story together further, even though I know that it was more expanding on Fusion's story, than the other way around.

Can't wait to actually start to play this. =) Not gonna get the Best Ending for a long time(If ever), but I knew that going into this. Just beating the game would be a first for the Metroid Series.(Speaking of which, I still need to finish the original game. >>')

Other Titles: Retro Gaming Once More

Lemme start this off by saying that I have never beaten the first three Megaman X games, even though I've played each many times, and have played the Megaman X Collection. Even though I've beaten every single other game in the series.

Now, last year, Megaman Zero Collection came out. Some of the four hardest games you'll see, that's not named 'Half Life'. =P So, I beat them all.

I recently was able to play Megaman X, and I've beaten at least 3 of the 8 initial bosses already. I've been speeding through the stages, aside from Launch Octopus's stage, which is just plain brutal to get the Heart Tank.

I don't know if it's because I've 100% completed the Zero games or what...

And regardless of this fact, I've only beaten 2(That is, Megaman 2, not two games) of all the classic games. xD

Other Titles: My Words Taste Like A Boot

Yes, I've been thinking about that secondary title for a bit. =P

I don't know what it is about the Xbox, but it's making me eat my words like crazy. 0_o

If you've just started to read the blog, I've been playing stuff on the Xbox for a little bit now, since the weekend(And last weekend), and I can't help but be surprised by it pretty much every day. And again, it's making me eat my words. I just don't get it. =P It's so weird.

Other Titles: No Checkpoint I'm Disappointed

So, uh, yeah. Just reached the Lighthouse place, and, uh, I got into a battle with the Combine. Aside from them using me for target practice, I haven't been doing that bad. Aside from when I got to the lighthouse rocket fight. Whose bright idea was it to not even put a checkpoint save there? >_^ I blew myself up, naturally. =P

Other Titles: Giant Magnet Of Doom!, I Hate Antlions

So. To continue my Half Life 2 spree, I've made my way to Highway 17. All's been fine so far, aside from dying to Antlions. The Rocket Launcher fight was pretty cool. Then I make my way to the bridge. AWESOME UBER MAGNET OF DEATH!! I believe this is one of the first times I've been able to drop a CRATE on an enemy! Yes, you heard that right, you can drop one of those shipping crates onto a Combine soldier. Flattening isn't the word there. =P(You can also smash the crate into the soldier, but that's not as fun. =P)

So, yeah, I make my way through the place, bulldozing my way. I realize I do need to bring the vehicle up, so I go and do stuff to get it there. However, and take note of this, how the heck can an Antlion get from the sand covered ground to the base of the magnet crane!? 0_o I had to fight off three of them, three, at the base of the crane. That was just really weird. 0_o And really startled me, because while I expected them on the ground, they shouldn't have gotten onto the crane...

Other Titles: Fast Headcrab Zombies Are Fast

So, yeah, been moving through Ravenholm at a very fast speed. About as fast as those agile headcrab zombies move, which is, to say, very fast. I mean, I was hearing about how they were fast, but I honestly didn't expect them to be that fast, a pleasant surprise.

My first reactions when I saw the first one. "Oh, look at that, that must be one of those quick zombies from the way it's jumping. *Readies brick*"

    Next moment?

    "AAAAAAAAH MY FACE!!"

I died in the weird section with that whirling blade. A lot. Was stuck there for a while until I realized that a part of that balcony? Yeah, that was a switch. You pull that to make things happen. Yeah.

On the bright side, when I got to the graveyard, I blew myself up like 5 times trying to fling an explosive barrel... It's red and has an explosive symbol on the side for a reason, people. Those things hurt when they blow up.

Other Titles: So I Gave Into The Ask Entries So What

Yeah, I made an Ask entry; it just took me what, two years? =P

So yeah, ask me what you want, though be warned, if it's too personal, I might evade the question. =P

Also, two more new categories. I might have to go back and start actually *Gasp* editing categories into the old entries! ... And also importing my old categories and all...

Other Titles: Headcrab Zombies And Health Restoring Enemies Oh My

So, yeah, just got there. Surprised by how different it is from the rest of the game, and now I have a new appreciation for stuff like Resident Evil. =P

Funny how one of the enemies actually acts as a health restorer, however. xD Granted, it nearly kills you, but...

I must say, Ravenholm's pretty cool, and I now understand why it's best played at night. =P

Other Titles: I'm Getting Shot At By A Second Helicopter

So, I got through two parts of that complex I've had to go through to open the gates. Now I'm getting attacked by a helicopter shooting at me(The second, I believe I shot down the first. =P), and also dropping bombs. Which doesn't help me making a jump, as it knocks me off track. That isn't the worst part, though, the part directly after... The copter keeps shooting at me, and somehow hitting me each time. 0_o Which is weird, because I've been doing a fairly good job of avoiding it 'til now. =P

Other Titles: I'm On A Boat, Those Head Crabs Can't Catch Me!

I told you guys more Half Life 2 stuff would be here soon. =P

So, I made it to Water Hazard. And I have no clue where I'm going. =) Well, actually, apparently I'm heading to the scene of the crime from last game, which is very interesting. But yeah, I'm finally out of Route Kanal, which is good. Head Crabs were but a distraction.
  11. Blessed Blade
Other Titles: Oh Those Things Again

If no one knows what I'm talking about, I'm referring to the part where the spinning metal bot thingies fly at you trying to kill you, while the Combine fire at you from the other end of the hallway. I think it's close to the end of the canal place, and after you get past that fence near the spinning water wheel. Then again, I thought I was close to the end of the area for a while, so take that with a grain of salt, or, rather, the whole salt-shaker if you wish. =P

The main problem here, is that I only have like 30 health(I'm going into it past the checkpoint at 6 health, so it's whatever that health pickup gives me. =P), and I'm basically trying to outlast the Combine's shots. =P And, well, they broke out the machine guns. Which doesn't help things for me. =P

I still stand by my thought that this is one of the harder games I've played; I don't recall many others that hand me a death every other second. =P ... In fact, it just confirmed that. While I was quickly waiting for someone to post an entry so it didn't seem like I was 'double posting' an entry on purpose, the game handed me three more deaths. Same area. xD

UPDATE! While the board was giving a board message, I passed the area, finally. Now I'm in a water area, and hopefully nearing the end of the canals. =)

Other Titles: Don't Worry - More Half Life Soon

I might have mentioned this, but I know I haven't mentioned this in my Blog. I now have Tetris Axis, and yes, I know, my blog sidebar really needs to be updated(Might do that next week or after Christmas). However, that doesn't matter. The main thing is that I have the game. It's very good, and the online is awesome, though I've been neglecting it only because I got it like a week before Skyward Sword released, and then got to playing an Xbox, and... Yeah. Things have just been hectic gaming-wise. =P

Dunno if anyone else here has the game, but I'm mentioning it anyway, and I'm up for a match if anyone wants to play me. I'm not the worst, however. =P(Haven't been doing the greatest online, but that's mostly because I'm not used to the battle mode yet. =P)

Other Titles: Maybe A Real Life Burnout...

So, computers getting built into cars. Might be good, more likely to be bad. I'm especially leaning to the 'bad' point, since I've been playing Burnout recently. And anyone who's played that knows that Burnout = Massive awesome crashes. So, yeah.

And on that note, Burnout 3 is awesome. Been playing it a lot recently, and I've unlocked a good portion of the game already. =P

Other Titles: Something Else Cold Related I Dislike How Interesting

It's official. I hate coughing. I've had a stupid cough for about the past week. I don't really know what's causing it now, but I'm really disliking it now. Tried a lot of things, and I thought it'd be over by now, but nope, still there. -_-'

Other Titles: Bullets Only Work Underwater If You Shoot From Above The Water

So, let me start off by saying that the Half Life series is one of the harder gaming series I've seen. =P So, I reached the part where you cross underwater after wasting pretty much all your bullets on those things that try to grab you. And... Well... Not getting very far past that. I get onto the platform, but, well, all the Combine start using me for Shooting Practice. Again. =P However, I'm not giving up... I'll get past this somehow! It'll take quick thinking and lots of strafing, but I'll do it. =P

On a side note, I seem to be making up for lost time tonight. A wonder what Half Life 2 can do to help you catch up in the blogosphere. =P

/EDIT: Oh of course, it's a ladder. Nearly made it past that part, but well, target practice ruled once more. =P

Other Titles: A Meme And A Reference

So, yeah, new Half Life themed blog title and description. Oddly enough, though most of the title reference is simply me guessing stuff I'm willing to bet that it's spot on. =P

So yeah. Expect more Half-Life blog entries sooner or later. =P

Other Titles: Playing Out Of Order Again I See.

So, I'm able to play the original Xbox version of Half Life 2. Not even 10 minutes into the game, and I'm already stuck. Wow. I think that's a new record. *Goes to bash different things to try and open the way* I don't have the Crowbar, though. =(
  18. Blessed Blade
Amazingly, no alternative titles for once. Though "Amazing Game of Epicness" certainly would be a good equivalent. =P

So; I got the Limited Edition Bundle on Sunday. Played it for an hour or two, but had to do something else IRL. Played for a little bit that night, got a little further.

Then... Well... MARATHON!! =P Not a non-stop one, obviously, but from then on, I continued playing, and still haven't finished it. 50 hours in, and I still haven't beaten the game. I'm likely starting to get near the end-game; but really, I have my suspicions that there's still a ton more stuff that I still have yet to do.

Although I've got that Spoiler warning in the title, I'm gonna use tags just to be on the safe side, as I don't want others to be spoiled; especially not with this awesome game.

I'm not gonna do a 'log' of sorts... This playthrough, at least. Maybe on the next one, as it's way too late into the playthrough for me to start now. =P

I must say once again, however, that this is one amazing game. And that Skyloft is awesome. Memorized it's layout on like the second day. It surprises me how quickly I achieved that with no mini-map at my disposal. =)

Other titles: Misadventures In Linux, And Another Kernel Bites The Dust, Synaptic Needs To Be Default, Alright Who Activated The Virtualizer?

So... Been messing around with virtual machines since the weekend, which admittedly is partly why I haven't been here during the day since then. =P Lemme just tell you what I've been doing. =P

    Ubuntu:
Saturday: VMware Player's installed, yep, downloaded Ubuntu 11.10, yep. Installing... Two hours later, it finished. After a reboot or two, I decided I'd install the tools so that I could do things. That's when the trouble started. =P I haven't used Linux in like a year, so, well, I kinda forgot some of the commands. >>; So, I had to use help and man like 100 times before I could figure out how to un-tar the package. Eventually, I decided to un-tar it to the main directory, and then it worked(After, I finally figured out the command to do that. =P). And then I couldn't figure out how to activate them. ; However, after about half an hour, I figured out how to activate it, after trying multiple other things. It never dawned on me at first to simply type the name. =P 'course, it wanted Super User, but... Didn't I just say, sudo fixes everything? =P So finally it all worked.

Since it was late, I decided to just leave it, and try and download the game thing I had wanted. And boy is that Ubuntu Software Centre awful. ; It takes like a minute or two to open with 384 MB RAM(Since I can't really spare much more than that, given I have to support my main OS as well), and then you have to go into different categories in the software thing, to find what you want. And then it's not even in alphabetical order. >_^ So, I finally track down the game, which was luckily in Role Playing this time(It wasn't even there back in 10.04). Install it. About 10 minutes later, since the thing's slow to install, I finally get that Software Centre closed. Go to the dash, which is really hard to navigate until you figure out the tricks to finding everything, and load the game up. Yeah, that's the next problem I had; it just continually froze on me. Of course, at that point, I hadn't found the Software Monitor, so I could only close it by logging out. Uninstalled it, and decided to just tyr again the next day.

Sunday: Oh boy. So, I got up, went back on the VM, everything worked perfectly. Then I decided to try Konquest, since it'd been a few years since I played that last. It installed fine, no problems. Launched fine. However, it ate up CPU at times as well, which, given the constant Unity panel it uses as the dash thingy on the side, wasn't really helpful, and it did freeze up a time or two, but overall worked. But then I tried that new media player they put on... Banshee I think it is? That took like 2 minutes to load when Konquest was open, and I didn't try after. However, when I tried to play a song, it was 'playing' it... But, you could tell it was having trouble playing it, since you only got like seconds of song compared to 30 seconds of dead air. =/ So, I closed that, went through part of a game of Konquest, but I had set the place to be way too open, so it was taking too long. Tried a second game, and epic failed as I lost in like the 10th round, and it then froze permanently on me. 0_o I decided to close that then, and try other things.

That's when I headed back to that other game, again. Tried to download it again, and once again it worked perfectly downloading and installing. But actually running it? Nope. Epic failed once again. It's like it couldn't read the server list correctly or something... Though it might be related to the theme it was using... I've had a few problems in it freezing on other versions of it when I change it's theme to be one that's not epic fail. So, I closed that, and tried again multiple times. Same result. I even tried to download one of the other versions that I was almost certain would work; but it wouldn't even configure so I could compile it. xD That's when I uninstalled it. Unlike the night before, which had given me tons of trouble since the Software Centre's uninstallation tool is very hard to work with, it actually uninstalled properly. So, I checked to make sure I even had GTK. I seemed to, but again, the Software Centre is fail, especially with finding stuff. So it wasn't really much help. However, in searching for that, I finally found the Synaptic Package Manager, and installed that without a second's hesitation. Once it was installed, and I launched it, I found the GTK stuff near-instantly. =P Tried to install the game through that as well, but it simply gave the same result, much to my disappointment, which leads me to think there was either no RAM left at all for the game at 384 MB(With the OS also running), or the current version just has some breaking glitch when running on my fail computer, on Ubuntu 11.10, at 384 MB RAM. =P

So, that's when I tried to move the VM onto my shiny new external Hard Drive. And to compound my day of fail, even that wouldn't work. Eventually, it was found out that since the drive used a FAT(32?) filesystem, it wouldn't support the 20 Gib Database file the VM needed. So, I had to delete the VM anyway. Wasn't too worried about it, since I wanted to start over anyway, so I deleted the stuff, and after waiting about an hour for the latest version of Knoppix to download, I used that as a base.

    Knoppix:
Sunday: Well, I must say, this got off to a much better start. Since it's intended as a live CD, it loaded pretty much near-instantly, aside from the obvious boot sequence. But still faster than Ubuntu. =P And that speed just transitioned into the actual OS navigation, as everything was much faster than having to wait 30 seconds for stuff to load(Like the Home Folder) on Ubuntu. This was pretty much instantaneous. And to boot, Synaptic was actually default, as it should be. Didn't have any games or such pre-loaded, unlike what I remember, but I don't really care about that. Went to the package manager, spent a little time to figure out how to get it to show the packages that weren't simply pre-installed, and then downloaded the game again, albeit a slightly earlier version. SUCCESS! It actually loaded, though I quickly broke it again by trying to change the layout, and then spent a long time to try and find out where it's data folder was located. After combing the disk, and finally finding and deleting the glitched settings file, I finally got into play, and while it did seem to run slower than if it was actually a live disk(Since it's only tapping into not even half of the RAM that should be available), it indeed worked. So I played that for a while.

That's when I tried to install it to the Hard Drive. Oh boy. ; Well, for the most part, it worked alright. It indeed created a new partition, and then installed to that. Even though that took like half an hour. But then it rebooted. Not a problem typically, right? It's just a reboot? *Sighs* Remember that third title I suggested? Another Kernel Bites The Dust? Yeah, that's what happened here. =P Though I didn't know it then, all I saw was it taking like half an hour to boot, which wasn't normal. I simply shut it down, though, since it was like 10:30 then.

Monday: Wow. I quickly checked everything I needed to, and then I booted up my VM again. It just did the exact same thing, which made me wonder what was going on. So, after a couple tries, and reboots, I tried to manually boot it. Which, is a VERY bad idea when you have no clue what you're doing in that command line interface. I had no clue where the kernel thing was located, nor did I have a clue what half those other options were. The one command I became very familiar with was 'reboot'. =P After a little searching, and a weird place to look, I finally found the kernel. Tried a different one to start, but that just returned an error and kicked me back to the boot screen. So, I just changed it back. And then I tried to type that in the manual boot screen. That's when the fun started. It finally realized I had found a kernel, and when I hit boot, it worked. However, that's also when the reason for it freezing up became apparent. As it was loading everything, it suddenly paused, and started flashing caps and scroll lock on and off on my keyboard. Which seemed odd, so I read some of the text. 'Kernel panic'. Of course. ; So, I tried the other kernel file i saw. Same result. *Sigh* So, I just deleted that VM. Take three!

... Of course, I haven't tried to re-install that again, as I have no clue what partitioning and boot stuff to use, as seemingly the defaults are fail for this. =P Also, take note that I have nothing else on this VM, which is likely why it's been working perfectly for me since that, because it's just a 'CD' running over a seemingly empty Hard Drive. =P Just mentioning, because I can't do something like put a partition on it from Windows; because to the VM; there is no Windows. Like there is no spoon, or the cake is a lie.

Other Titles: I'm On The Role Again, Time To Quit Playing Around, I Think The Rpgs Multiplied

Before you panic about alt title 2, I'm not quitting anything, I just wanted a second witty play-on-words title. =P

So... Yeah. Lots of RPGs. I'm sure there are more now than there were before the upgrade... Either that, or I finally know the reason why I didn't get to reply to all the RPGs before the upgrade downtime started. =P I'm lucky, though, they're still going fairly slow since BZP only just came back, but I have a funny feeling I'll eventually start to regret following all those RPG topics, especially when activity starts up again...

I mean, instead of the 50-80 notifications I'm getting overnight now, I'll likely have 100-9001 eventually. xD

I just want to test this.

    Substitute Shinigami Badge

I also kinda wanna show off the badge a little, but it's mostly to test. =P I just noticed that in one of the new topics in GD, there was a link to a blog entry that was apparently about the topic; and that's new. So, obviously I wanted to try it, since that'd be cool. =D So... Yeah. =P

    /EDIT: Oooh. I was mistaken, there's actually an option to do it in the topic itself, so... I'm doing it wrong! =P Well, uh, whoops. >>; I may wanna keep this to show I was wrong, in execution, but it is possible. You just need to use the 'blog this' link in the topic itself. ;

So, yeah, not much to say here. I was contemplating a couple, but well... I just kept returning to this one; and it fits my new avvie, so... I have yet another Bleach-related name. =P

I might also make up a blog entry of the different features I'm discovering about the board, like the fact that you can reply to comments and the fact that a PM conversation, well, only counts as one conversation. =)

Overall, though, not that long of an entry this time; but I'll likely have another sometime today about something or another. =P

Other Titles: Capcom!, The Moon Is Not Enough, Trigger Must Be Getting Lonely, The Megaman On The Moon Will Stay There Much Longer, When A Legend Dies Another Is Born - Just Not Any Time Soon

Yeah... This is more of a ranting entry, just to warn you guys. =P

So. July 18th, I believe, of this year. Not a good day for Megaman fans, not at all. I mean, we had two games announced the year before, 3 if you really wanna count Rockman Online. However, Universe had been canceled about 4 months prior; but we still had Legends 3, right? Right?

Eh, not really. Capcom apparently didn't think that there was enough people who wanted it, so, guess what, they canceled both it and the 'prototype' that was going to be sold on the Nintendo E-Shop. The rage that resulted certainly got word out, I believe, and many people showed their support to try and show Capcom that they were in the wrong this time... Any of it work yet? Nope. Nothing's worked, even though two developers(Including Keiji himself) wanting to make the game, and a massive campaign by the fans.

But, really, I do not get Capcom's logic at all. I would've understood if it had some game breaking bug.(From the one person who got to play the prototype outside of Capcom's own media people; that was not the case) I would've understood if there had've been other reasons, like the 'reasons' for Legends 1 and 2 not getting released.

But they initially claimed lack of fan input(And to be honest, we haven't heard any better reasons. =P), when they themselves said that participation in the Dev Room was not needed. And if they had've actually kept it going, they could have dominated the E-Shop; given that there's still almost no e-Shop exclusive games.(There's that Golf game, and the VC stuff, but that's it.) And if they had've stuck to their original plan of using the Prototype as a gauge of fan input, then we might have actually gotten the game, instead of a cancellation notice.

Oh yes, and that's the other thing. They claimed that the Prototype Version's popularity would dictate whether or not the game would get released. The prototype was never even released; so how do they know whether or not the game would have been popular? And after all the commotion that happened immediately following the cancellation, you'd think that Capcom would've realized, "Hey, wait, we made a mistake"... But nope. They're just putting out the games that they were planning on releasing... Well... Minus any Megaman games, of course.
