  1.

Here is the Netflix Bionicle TV show trailer for those interested.

I like Lewa and Kopaka's voices. I don't know if I like Umarak's voice yet though. I always imagined it to be a little deeper than it is shown here. But maybe it will grow on me as time goes on.

Not a fan of high pitched villain voices. Reminds me of Starscream from Transformers, but then he was just a subordinate sidekick. The main villain should sound menacing, not silly.

  2. Is stocking in stores sporadic for anyone else? My Target and Walmart each only have like 2-3 of the new Toa placed haphazardly around the Lego section (sometimes on different shelves). Only Toys R Us has all of them available but even then, they're mixed in with the 2015 sets.

  3. Anything that's not human, honestly. I really don't think CCBS works too much with human figures.

I thought CCBS was intended for more humanoid characters, since it allows for a more smooth, uniform appearance. The Star Wars figures look pretty good so far, but it seems to clash with Bionicle's mechanized parts.

  4. Wow thanks for the feedback, I absolutely had no idea that LEGO could do that with their boxes, the pieces I understand because there are so much more then boxes to manufacture but I didnt know this could happen, definitely definitely not worth $200 tho like youve all been saying lol

I've seen this in stores before back in 2007. They either mixed up the caps in the factory or ran out of blues and went with black. I might say the latter, since the ones I saw also used black instead of red or yellow or some other vibrant color--black fits better with blue. Not sure if it's worth $200 tho.

So you saw this happen quite a few times when the Barraki were actually out on store shelves?

Yeah, I remember going to Walmart when the Barraki first came out and they had a hundred of them in all colors, and I noticed that some of the blue ones had black lids. I just assumed it was a factory error. If I'd received one as a gift, I'd probably go exchange it for a correct one, and would most certainly not pay $200 for it :o.

I also vaguely remember seeing Pridak with a black lid at some point. Perhaps black was just the universal replacement if there was a shortage or something.

I really like the leg builds on these summer sets since they're not just simple bone pieces anymore.

Also, did they really make two Umaraks in one year? o.O

they made two lewas, pohatus, and antrozes in 2008, and two mata-nuis in 2009, it's similar to that, except this one's actually a story significant  transformation. :b

Those were typically choose one or another. Most people probably wouldn't buy a $10 set after buying a $40 one with nearly the same figure. But if it's like two versions of the same character, display dioramas are gonna look weird D:

    Wait. Lava Beast's lower legs.

Are those ball socket connectors, but with a length of axle in place of an axle socket?

    That would be... sweet.

No, they're just Y-joints and Glatorian necks connected with a regular 2M axle. You can tell in this pic from Zusammengebaut. The Glatorian necks do appear to be a new recolor, though (Bright Orange).

I only followed G1 up until the end of Metru Nui's novelization. The last set I got was Sidorak, then my folks decided 14 was too old to be into legos and stopped getting me any for my birthday (and at 14 I didn't have a source of income to buy any.) So I was forced to quit it and always promised myself I would see how it ended. (Never actually did that though.) When I moved to college my mom threw away all of my Bionicles since I wasn't home to stop her.

I guess what I'm trying to say there is I only know about sets prior to Sidorak.

Aww, that's sad :/ Like thrown in the trash? My mom's gotten me a Bionicle per birthday since 2001 cause she has no idea what else to get XD The G1-G2 gap was an interesting time.

  9. A small thing to point out: Ekimu's eyes are back to being blue on the new image of him on the site, even though it is his (otherwise real-world-accurate) set appearance.

I just wish they had sticked to blue eyes in the animations... :(

I stopped thinking about eye color consistency when they couldn't even get the eye colors right on the Barraki instruction manuals. Like, did someone just go and photoshop the eye colors differently for the booklet?

  10.

Is Umarak's design meant to be digitigrade? I was talking about how I wished they would make a digitigrade bipedal set last year XD

That actually makes sense. Assuming the antlers are actually a part of Umarak and not a part of the mask (I believe Skull Basher and Grinder had their horns as part of the mask as the horns disappear when putting on a different mask in the animations.) However in the new commercial, Umarak retains his horns when he wears the mask of control. Maybe he's meant to be more animal-like than humanoid, hence the digitigrade feet.

The set has the horns attached to the head/eyestalk, so it appears it is part of his body. I thought the extra pieces on his calves were something like G1 pistons, but now it looks more like it's there to add bulk for a digitgrade look. Neat!

  11. This might be a bit early, but since it is believed that G2 is slated for at least a 3 year run, do you think we'll get new iterations of the same Toa next winter? I'm kinda weighing whether or not I should buy all the 2016 Toa and replace the 2015 ones, only to replace them again a year later for what could be the final year for now. I really like how the builds look compared to the 2015 ones, but they might get even better next year.

  12.

The little spinny wheel things. They were just different colors.

At least they WERE different colors, unlike Kanoka discs.

Didn't the Kanoka have little pictures on them tho?

The worst collectible masks for G2 Bionicle are all those comic-con exclusive ones, the golden skull mask & the trans-blue mask of water, they're near impossible to collect & are valuables for scalpers to grossly overcharge people for. :P

    Hence, collectibles :o

  13. I'm still a little disappointed with the creatures. A lot of them don't feel very rahi like which is what I was hoping for them. Only Uxar and Akida really scream rahi to me and even then I wish they had unique heads to better represent the animal they're supposed to be.

Technically this is the first iteration of Rahi in G2, but some variety would be nice. Lego doesn't seem too big on that in G2 though. Even if their builds are different, a lot of sets turn out similar.
