  2. did anybody else think it was wierd that the elder of the protecters of fire just become unhunched back in less then a second and goes into a stance that praccticly says "im not so old as u think tough guy" i just thaught that was completely weird.... :???:

He wasn't hunchbacked.  That was his gun.

    Edit: Kapura'd by thaaaaaaat much!

  3. Everything in Bionicle is a "cash-grab".The story-team HAS to use the sets they sell in the story. Like it or not, they don't have a choice.

Also, you are acting like the story takes precedence over set-design. It does not. Stars were to celebrate the 10 years Bionicle had been running by bringing back familiar and popular character designs. Mistika were designed per setting and not necessarily meant to mirror the 2002 Nuva. There is a world of difference in the design. The story team's job is to write a story around that.

Also, Greg did alleviate this discrepancy early on by saying the Adaptive Armour's Neutral form is more akin to his original Nuva appearance. So it's not 100% inconsistent.

Also, even if that was the case, no one would be happy if Tahu Stars looked like Tahu Mistika, bar rabid "stick-to-the-canon" fans.

Quite right.  This is why story pacing was so awkward at times--tough to keep a good flow going when you have six villains in January and six heroes in July.

One of the things I love about Ninjago's soundtrack that few BIONICLE soundtracks have ever really been able to capture is that like the soundtracks of Avatar: The Last Airbender, The Legend of Korra, My Little Pony Friendship is Magic, My Little Pony Equestria Girls, or even The LEGO Movie, it literally sounds like the type of music the inhabitants of its world might actually make. Some of the Mata Nui Online Game music had that feel, but the BIONICLE movie soundtracks rarely did. The music reflected the story but it failed to reflect the world in which that story took place.

The new music is epic on some levels, but it still has this problem to a great extent. I can't for the life of me picture the villagers of Okoto playing that kind of music, unlike, say, the theme music of the Chronicler's Company from Mata Nui Online Game, or the theme that played when Gali fought the Tarakava, or the music in the Great Mine of Onu-Koro. The instrumentation for those tracks felt like it belonged specifically to the world and society that game depicted.

The Mata Nui Online Game music wasn't the PERFECT soundtrack in my eyes, but I still think it was a great achievement. It felt epic without feeling like generic orchestral action/adventure movie music. Surely the BIONICLE reboot could manage that as well.

    I agree completely with that.

  5. Let's hope in the next episode they give the protectors names (or at least give us an in story reason why they don't).

"I am Steve, Protector of Stone!  I fight against evil!  It is my destiny to be a minor supporting character that gets two lines of dialogue in the entire story!"

Temple of Time AND Vahi easter eggs.

At this point, Lego's just smacking us in the face with evidence the Vahi's going to appear in Gen 2.

Another thing to note is that the Vahi is apparently the first mask Lego ever designed.

Yeah, it was. Check this out:

Meet what I call Tahonua, Toa of double Vahis. :P This was concept art of the Vahi before Bionicle was released.

So was there going to be a, I don't know, Toa of Time :P

Judging by the fact that he has an Onua claw and a Tahu flame sword... I'm pretty sure this is just a concept. But do you know what was more likely to happen than a Toa of Time? DooHeads. :P

All I can say is I'm glad they never went with the Vahi as a main mask.  Looks rubbish when worn.

Well... depends on what head color you use, and if it goes well with the eyes and body colors... it actually looks really cool on certain MOCs.

Oh, I'm sure it could be done.  I just think it's too bottom-heavy for a figure as sparse as a Mata or Nuva.

  8. I was never one for collectibles but your idea sounds interesting. They could also sell packs of the small studs the Protectors use for ammo and call them 'Power Pellets' or something.

Sell them for a buck so when kids lose them they can just find a pack that has the same color as their character and buy that from the store.

Excellent idea.  From what I've seen those pieces would be a pain to keep track of.

  9. man, a lot of people seem to dislike the idea of rock music being in any way involved with robot-warriors that punch creepy parasites. :0

I'm not opposed to it, I just don't like what's been done with it thus far.  I certainly wouldn't mind hearing a Black Keys or Kongos or Muse song used; in fact I'd likely be pretty enthused about it.

I didn't wanna spam another topic with this, but does anyone else think the Skull Spider's will transfer their special traits onto their controlee? (i.e. Hardiness, X-ray vision, increased speed, etc.)

I think it could be possible. The Krana that Lewa wore gave them its power, and though they are two completely different creatures in two different storylines, I still think the Skull Spiders could transfer their power to their host if they took over someone. (If they can even do that to begin with.) I don't have any proof for it though.

Speaking of Lewa and the Krana, I will be very dissappointed if we don't get a scene this year where Lewa gets possessed by a Skull Spider and Onua has to save him.

That would be a phenomenal throwback scene.  All the nostalgists would go into fits of happiness.
