I meant more of a half-and-half mix of organic and technology of the borg, not the whole nanoprobes thing. (also I think it was confirmed that matoran were more mechanical than organic)

Well, your later piont about the relentlessness of the Borg seeming like Marendar I think is right on, but I just want it to be clear that a half and half mixture of bio-to-tech has absolutely nothing inherently to do with that. It did for the Borg because the Borg were, as you said, about assimilating anything of use, for purposes of conquering. So for their goal, the mixture is an inherent ingredient of their relentlessness. But for the goal of hunting down Toa, not really.

 

Maybe you're clear on that, I'm just talking to add to the discussion out of interest's sake I guess. And of course, absorbing anything useful could help indirectly for any goal, including Toa-hunting, so if that's where you were going with it, perhaps. On the other hand, I doubt that would be the GBs' strategy because then it might adapt beyond its original mission and be a far worse threat than an army of Toa ever could have been. So something rigid and unyeilding, like a superstrong Vahki, makes more sense to me; something designed intentionally do be ideal for hunting Toa as the GBs designed them, with little ability to adapt beyond that. (IMO.)

 

(Note: fishers is right on about the Vahki there. Their ability to think was literally designed exactly due to the arrangement of the clockwork mechanisms. They had no ability to reprogram themselves beyond this at all; any attempt would just make their brains break down, or they'd at least malfunction like the 05 ones. So I really think Vahki are a better comparison to what I had in mind for Marendar, kind of the opposite of the Borg in that way.)

 

And understood, fishers, about the elemental attacks thing. I guess I assumed it was confirmed.
