Finished! Woot!

Today I finished writing the fourth draft of my upcoming epic, Dawn of the New Century. It's a little over 93,000 words, making it the longest draft yet. It is also probably the best draft, although I am going to revise it at least three times before posting it to make it even better.

Taking into account the amount of rivison it's going to need, expect to see Dawn sometime in early 2013 at the earliest. I hope it will be my best epic yet or at the very least on par with my previous epics in terms of quality.

Also, I am pleased to announce that Dawn will indeed have a sequel. I have tentatively titled the sequel The Kingdom of Chaos, although that is subject to change at any time, so don't be surprised if I rename it later on.

Now I'm going to take a break from Dawn, like I usually do after finishing a story, and go back to that Toa Chimoy short story I mentioned a while ago. I'm going to edit the short story and then post it in the SS forum, most likely later this month. It's been a while since I last looked at it, so I barely remember any of the details, which is great because I'll be able to look at it with a much more critical and unbiased eye during revision, which means I'll notice more flaws and, more importantly, know how to fix those flaws, too.

That's all for now, so see ya,

:kaukau: Dang, this makes me feel pretty bad, considering that my story right now is only 61k, and I've taken a break. Which means that someone out there has an epic that's more epic than mine. However, I predict that when I'm done, the first book of my epic will be 120k words, give or take, but probably give. And then I can feel good about myself and stick my tongue out at you.

You know what the sad thing for people like us is, though? Nobody ever reads our stuff. We're eternally doomed to the realms of obscurity as our text collects dust and people take one look at the length and think "Nope nope nope."

You make a good point about nobody reading longer works. It doesn't bother me too much, though, because I'm not writing for fame (although I admit fame is pretty nice).

Then again, 70,000 to 100,000 words is pretty average for published books and people read those all the time. If I were you, I wouldn't give up hope that you will be read someday even if you regularly write and publish books that are a little longer than 100,000 words.
