A concerned commenter on LEGO Ideas said they couldn't help but question the scale of the dinosaurs. To help people better gauge the scale, I made this size chart. The sizes aren't perfect, but Deinonychus, Stegosaurus, and Apatosaurus all fall reasonably close to accurate scale to a minifigure. Spinosaurus, however, was small enough compared to what it should be that I felt the need to fix it.

Along with fixing the scale to a minifigure, this build also fixes the wonky legs and sparse spine of the original. The skull is still an annoyance, but there is just no way to fix that lower jaw.

Are those all marginally different length tubes that make up the spine? Something about that feels really wonky to me.

No, three of them are 3L lightsaber blades and two of them are 4L lightsaber blades. I just slid two of them out a little to give the spine a more natural shape.

Hoo boy. That's not going to be confusing at  all during construction.

 

I doubt LEGO would let that part of it get past the ideas stage; they'd insist on putting them all the way in, which makes sense, considering their emphasis on solidity of build and clarity of instructions. I just figured I'd do whatever I could to get it to look as natural as possible for pictures.

Mm, fair enough. The only other suggestion I would make would be towards lego at the end, and that's adding a couple of tiles with dinosaur tracks printed on them, since a lot of museums tend to have tracks or casts thereof behind the skeletons.
