I Stand At A Crossroads

I want to continue study at TAFE to get into the computer games industry, but my parents are against my continuing to study because they think I'm going to become a professional student, and do nothing but study for my whole life. Even if I can convince them, I won't have enough money to both start a TAFE course I found that I want to do, and buy my dad's car off him (my driving test is coming in a week).

I do plan to try and find work, but I'm scared. Getting part-time work is harder than people make it out to be, especially when you're in your early 20s and you've never worked for money in your life, like me. Plus, a series of ads featuring part-timers injuring themselves (making the kinds of mistakes I feel I'd make) has made it all but impossible for me to muster up the courage to even try.

Honestly, it would depend on what part time work you want to do... If those ads are documenting accidents one out of a thousand times, then I wouldn't be petrified of them.

However, not having worked yet, I doubt I can give you much sage advice.
