Don't know if this is news to anyone, but I just came across this solution.
Don't know if this is news to anyone, but I just came across this solution.
But this entry does not regard that. It's an idea that has been banging around in my head for a while, but I think it's about time I proposed it to BZPower in general.
Different forums have different problems when it comes to contests. Art Contests, rare as they are (anthropologists have not yet confirmed the last one), seem to be plagued by an issue of theme, divisions, and how to execute it. It's always been this way, and as such ACs have a hard time getting off the ground. SBC, the forum formerly known as LGD, used to be afflicted with such an ailment, but the recent SBC Contest #1 seems to herald, hopefully, a sea change in the forum.
BBC Contests are a different matter altogether. The BBC folks have no problem coming up with themes, and that, to me, is the issue. Within the contests retainable in the logs of recent memory, the themes have been, for lack of a better term, hit-and-miss. The 80's theme and the rock-music theme were especially esoteric and memorable for their obscure subject matter.
So, is there a way to combat an issue that manifests itself in various forums as equally various problems?
Have a contest in every forum with the same theme.
An example: SBCC1 had a great theme. That theme could have easily been adapted to BBC or GA. The right theme is crucial, since some contests are more adaptable to BBC/SBC, and others work in Art and no place else.
Still, I would like to see something like this happen, at least once, happen on BZPower. The coordinating difficulties might be massive, but the end result would be quite interesting and fun.
I encourage you to vote for the best entry, whether you believe it to be mine or another entry.
May the best writer win!
If you don't like a line, don't complain about it to other people who can't/won't do anything about it - just don't purchase those sets.
Yes. It's really that simple.
I have not seen such backlash against a line since BIONICLE's sets got axed, and while it's on a considerably smaller scale, I don't understand it.
Let's be realistic, folks. It was never a rule of Cuusoo to automatically put an idea into production if said idea got 10,000 supporters. Ten thousand is a heck of a lot of people, but even if they bought two of every set they supported, where would that leave LEGO? In the red. You see, Cuusoo is just a way to judge popularity. If it's popular, then LEGO reviews it, then puts it into production. The review step is one that seems to get lost in translation. It seems to me that a lot of members who didn't like the notion saw "LEGO Minecraft" on the front page and immediately turned the bash knob up to eleven. But even then, a lot of people don't like it - who know that there is a review process to go through (not to mention licensing issues in this case) - end up getting deathly afraid that LEGO Minecraft sets might happen. Gasp, shock, horror.
This is not a rant against the haters of a potential line, nor is it an endorsement for the seeming minority who support its inception. I really just don't get why people are getting worked into a tizzy over it, because in my mind, it's really not that big of a deal.
So, I ask you, supporters or haters of LEGO Minecraft:
Why do you, or do you not, like it?
I'm surprised of the quality of my work, considering most of it was written at 1:30 in the morning a few nights ago.
Year One is on hiatus.
No, before you react one way or another, it is not canceled. It will never be canceled. The recent BZPower downtime gave me time to reflect on how ineffective the topic was becoming. I also now realize that I'll have to be more directly involved with a lot more than I'd anticipated. (Not like this is a bad thing.)
For the next month, or the next several, I'll continue to refine my skills in game-making, scripting, and 3D modeling, and I hope that the others involved with Year One will do so as well. When the topic is relaunched, the project will be much more streamlined.

If you learn one thing in life, learn this:
You should never, ever question why demons would possess a soda.
just a heads up - Cthulhu would probably eradicate mankind before bringing back Bionicle

Sumiki -- nice try but we all know Toa Mata Nui stuffs its bra

Shhh, I'm trying to focus on the negative to justify my dislike of history.
Also a long line of really great hats.
You have a great understanding of history, but don't forget, war, murder and other poor decisions are also huge characteristics.
To be fair, I am the one responsible for the invention of Mafia in the 1320s by seventeen bored italians locked in a mine shaft.
It's a long story.
