Bohrok Pens

Oh god I'm doing it again...

Okay, anybody ever get one of those Bohrok pens from 02? I guess they're like the Toa pens, but they have these smaller Bohrok faceplate elements... and maybe a krana bead?

See, these might be useful pieces for building minifig-scale Bohrok. (Yeah, crazy idea, I know.) But there are so few images of them on the web, and I can't see the kind of detail for how they'd work. So if somebody has ever owned one, could they say what kind of unique pieces the pens includes, and how they connect (are they a clip or an actual bead? Would they be able to connect to standard studs?) Also, if you have one, interesting in selling? :P

But yeah, seriously, any details on these would be nice. Would like to know if they're going to work before I make a potential purchase, rather than buying one and realizing it's useless.

If no one else can answer your question I can attempt, but I haven't looked at the pen in years and I can't guarantee the accuracy of my memory. For your purposes, it sounds like the only potentially useful pieces would be the Krana, Toa head, and faceplate.

So the Krana piece attaches to a mini Toa head via a really small stud. I can't remember how small, but I'm pretty sure it's too small to be compatible with other Lego pieces/pins (I THINK the pin is about the same size as the minifig hand pin).

The Toa head itself has a hole in it that the bar can go through. I don't know the diameter of the hole off hand, but it's basically the same as the bar below. I do not remember if the head has a stud or if it's just a hole. I would assume it has a stud, because that's how the pen pieces are generally designed. And if I recall, the studs are ever slightly too small to be compatible with regular bricks.

The faceplate is attached to the top of the pen, has a hinge, and can be lifted up or down by the back (essentially, the hinge is on the opposite end that it's on for the sets). Because it's attached to the top, I'm pretty sure the bar for putting pieces on is attached to it as well (ie, it's not removable).

For a visual, if you look at this image http://www.geekalert...GO-City-Pen.jpg , The faceplate would be attached directly to that black/red top.

Eventually (within the next few weeks) I'll have access to it. If for some reason you can't get the details you need by then, I'd be happy to send you some pictures.

Well, its a bummer that it doesn't sound like it'll work to well. (Although my experience is that the beads can fit on top of studs easily enough, even if studs don't fit on them.) And if it's possible to remove the bar on the headplate and fit that on top of a stud...

But my ramblings aside, thanks a lot for the details. It was far more informative than any of the pictures I've found. :D
