Transgender Day of Remembrance
an important message transgender
Transgender Day of Remembrance (TDoR), occurs annually on November 20th at the conclusion of Transgender Awareness Week. It is a day to memorialize those who have been killed as a result of transphobia and anti-transgender violence. Even now, anti-transgender hatred is largely ignored and many of these murders are still unsolved. TDoR serves to raise awareness of hate crimes against trans*gender people as well as to honor the lives of those who might otherwise be forgotten. Transgender Day of Remembrance vigils offer an opportunity for trans*people and their allies to memorialize these victims of transphobia and prejudice.
