You And You

Ok, so I left my painting class this evening a half an hour early, as my professor sent me home due to me breaking down into tears of frustration over struggling with getting a solid idea for my painting final, along with a complete feeling of overwhelm from my other classes, finals that are looming ahead of me, track, work, radio show: basically life in general.   Then I came on here and find this and this.   This pretty much made me cry some more (but it was good crying, I swear!) just because

Yoshida And Panda Are Awesome

Because they pretty much forced me to take the day off and rest up to in the hopes that whatever this cold/sore throat/stuff-uppedness/almost constant headache I don't even know anymore goes away. It's really making me miserable and overly snippety at some people, but hey, it's hard to do anything to get yourself to feeling better when the conversation with the nurse goes like this:   Nurse: Well, if you were at home, what would you do for this? Me: Um, take cold medicine....and something for my

TOMORROW IS NATIONAL HUG A CROSS COUNTRY RUNNER DAY.   SO GO HUG A CROSS COUNTRY RUNNER.   Might have to tell them to stop running for a moment so you can hug them.   BUT SERIOUSLY GO HUG THEM. Despite popular belief, they do not bite. Unless you really make them mad or something.   Oh, and the men's team, along with two of the women from my university's XC team qualified for the national cross country meet, which is happening this Saturday at Ft. Vancouver. Woo hoo! I might carpool with some pe

Wow

Oh wow wow wow wow wow.   Wow.   Conference champ in pole vault. Didn't hit the automatic standard for nationals (went 10' 8"), but still: conference champ!   Second in the 4x100m relay, barely two-tenths off the automatic qualifier for nationals, and we broke the school record.   Almost forgot about the 100m until about 15 minutes beforehand because I was on the other end of the track taking pictures. Won my heat, only to find out that I'd gotten fourth overall and ran sub-thirteen (12.94s) and

Word Problems

Math that is in the form of word problems kind of makes me want to stab things.   And every single one of these math problems is a word problem. And this is supposed to be math that should be teaching me how to teach math to elementary school students and the majority of them are examples of math problems that said students should be able to solve, yet it's making no sense to me.   Argh!   (and 309 days until BrickFair!)

Woah...

The sudden occurrence of the past while is pretty much making up for never getting my Hogwarts acceptance letter. That owl is quite delayed....but this is like awesome because helping out is awesome, and this almost might be cooler.   And I'm still kind of in shock here (on the plus side, I did eventually stop hyperventilating). Wow. So, thanks to the people who ever really thought I'd ever be decent enough to be even considered for something like this. I'll do my best! And congrats to Spink, Ir

Whosawhat?

I don't know what just happened or even what that was for, but I just got interviewed by two people on camera while I'm sitting here going through my email in the art building. Like completely at random, no, "Hey can we ask you a few questions" but more of a "Hi, why are you here? What's your major? Do you go to sporting events here? Wait, you do track? What do you do? You vault? That's really cool. So, if you had to choose between art and track, what would you go with?", and it just became the

Whisper Words Of Wisdom...

I played Smeag's version of "Let it Be" at the end of my radio show this evening. I hope he doesn't mind. It was quite nice.   Um, yeah. Still stressing. Crazy ridiculous midterm painting due on Tuesday. And math. Eventually there is math due. Do not want.   (and 271 days until BrickFair!!)

What Pumpkins?

These pumpkins!   Spritz cookies in the shape of pumpkins!     First Thanksgiving away from home, but my friends Christine and Jon had a Thanksgiving dinner with a bunch of people who weren't able to go home or live here and didn't have a Thanksgiving dinner in town to go to. While eating, we watched part of Madagascar 2, part of Elf, and all of The History of the World Part 1. And then we yelled at commercials for being silly.   I made the aforementioned spritz cookies (which turned out very s

What An Odd Weekend....

I mean, usually my weekends are extremely interesting or extremely boring, but this one was just odd.   And am still being indecisive about this blog's name.....gah.   The track team left on Friday at 9 AM to go to the WAOR meet in Spokane. Nothing like being stuck on a bus for four hours! Once we got to Spokane, we did a quick practice at SCC's track, checked into the hotel, cleaned up a bit, and went to a banquet dinner for the four Oregon college teams and the four Washington college teams.

Weird Dreams About Tornadoes

So, I had a dream last night that I was back at college and a tornado hit my school and I remember watching the tornado ripping through a wall while I hid under a desk.   This wouldn't be so weird if it weren't for that when my mom was a kid a tornado hit her school and completely destroyed it.   And you think this was a weird dream. You have no idea what you're in for.-FN

Week Three: Drill Bit

The main things I learned this week is that it is extremely satisfying when the LEDs you soldered together successfully light up, and that drill bits should not go into your thumb.   That was my adventure this week! Wednesday afternoon, I was drilling out LEGO pieces to put wiring through for a street lamp, and the drill bit somehow slipped off the LEGO piece and went directly into my left thumb. A super sharp drill bit is definitely not something that you want going through your thumb

Week One

Things I have learned in my first week as a model shop assistant at LEGOLAND, CA: Turn signals are a foreign concept in California. So is going the speed limit. It's either five under or at least ten over. WHY IS THIS. The average teenage lifeguard at a LEGOLAND orientation training is very confused by the concept of an adult liking LEGO and will ask if they need to call security if they see an adult without children walking around. Also being one of five people out

Week Five: Rain

It has rained all weekend and today (I have missed the rain and it reminds me of Portland!). The roof is leaking, but it's only leaking over my desk. Apparently this is an improvement from when they were in a tent on site and every time it rained they would have to sweep all the water out of the tent. I'm really glad I don't have to sweep water out of a tent, and instead just have to move my desk over a few feet and get another bucket when another leak starts.   This is the minifig I u

We're California Bound

Heading to San Francisco from today until Sunday, as there are not just one, but THREE track meets all within 30 miles of each other on Friday and Saturday. The hotels we'll be staying at should all have internet, but if I suddenly disappear, it means we are internetless. It should be a very good rest of spring break. The first part was pretty awesome and I have wonderfully wacky photos from the first half of it to upload as well.   And, how is everyone (who else is on spring break? We're all ki

We'll Be B(Qu)Ack

Watch out.   In other news, I am supposed to do a documentary photography project for photojournalism. It is supposed to last for the next nine weeks (until the end of term). Each week I am supposed to shoot at a minimum either one 36 exposure roll of film or the equivalent 75 digital images. The instructions talk about how we are not supposed to choose a subject matter that is too grandiose, or requires traveling (given the amount of bad weather we've been having). My professor gave ideas such

We Were Optimistic....

...until the bus broke down at midnight. We got back home at four thirty in the morning. Good times!   And, while at the meet, this guy came up to me and was like, "Hey! How did you do today?", but for the life of me, I couldn't figure out who he was even though he seemed to know who I was. He seemed really familiar, though. I think he may go to a school in our conference, so he should be at the conference meet in two weeks, so I'll see if I run into him there. And speaking of in two weeks, hope

We All Live In A Tea Submarine

I like this a lot.     And, I'm currently registering for classes for spring term (woo), but the majority of classes that I need to take for my communications minor either aren't available for spring term, or are one weekend classes that I can't take since they're offered on other campuses that are way far away and I don't have a way to get there. I think I wouldn't be so worried about this, but I have to have 15 credits every term, or I'll lose my scholarships and track eligibility. Right now,

Vote for my MOC at Brickfair!

Hi everyone! I am at BrickFair with a ton of other people right now, and I found out that my Nike running shoe MOC is nominated for Best Sculpture! This is pretty freakin' sweet, as I'm really proud of how this MOC turned out, especially since it was my first real venture into a more traditional style LEGO build.   If you are at BrickFair and are registered, if you could please go in to your account, go to the tab that says "Brickees" and vote for my shoe as Best Sculpture, that would be really
