I don't think 'Angst' and 'Hurt/Comfort' are needed, in my humble opinion. The others are fine, though; and, offhand, I can't think of any other categories you should add.

 

Sorry, angst stays. IMO, it is a commonly used genre.

 

And there's the fact that probably half of my stories are in that category.

Otherwise, my stories won't be represented at all.

Ahh yes, I knew I missed something.

Songfic? I know, it may not fit, but it does suffice as a genre part of stories with songs to match.

I won't put it down as genre; instead I'll stick it with the "best short short story, best long short story" section.

Humor is a bit redundant with the Comedies Forum

 

Also, what would you call a story embellishing upon pre-established events, characters, or locations? Canon Fiction?

I wouldn't call it anything frankly.

 

And ftr, stories can be humorous without being comedies. I've seen my share of them.

^ Yeah, I get that, but Humor alone qualifies it as a comedy, and such a story would almost always fall under another genre.

 

Of course, I don't know how you will be categorizing entries, so this may be completely invalid.
