Transit Of Venus

It's pretty cool. I haven't bothered to make a pinhole camera to watch it, even though I'm in a prime location to do so, so I've been checking the stream every now and again instead. But yeah, very nice to be on this side of the Pacific to have the opportunity to witness it for our scientists and such. So, yeah. We're not getting this opportunity again from over a hundred years...cool.

The sky decided to fill with clouds when the transit was occurring where I live; it was rather disappointing. :/

A friend of mine, however, got some really nice pictures of the transit during sunset.

Aw, that's a shame. Usually that's what happens to me whenever we have eclipses and such, always raining and cloudy. Today, despite freezing, has been a really great day for it.

Lucky your friend got those pics, I'd imagine they'd be gorgeous. That would have been sweet. We're in the privileged position of getting the full transit from beginning to end...but that means no cool sunset/sunrise images. Oh well.

One of the profs. at my university set up a telescope for us to look through. Seeing it so (relatively) large was fantastic. Saw some sunspots, too. It was only for 30 seconds or so, but that's better than never.

YAY SCIENCE!
