    *walks into topic*

Ah nah, nah nah nah nah no no no..... None of this will do!

Yikes. I gotta be honest, this is a bad take if ever I saw one. Reproductive ability is not, never has been, and never will be a necessary prerequisite to loving or being loved by someone. To suggest otherwise is to suggest that people who are sterile due to age or disability, people who don't want kids, etc. are condemned to lives of loneliness, and that is some steaming hot garbage. Have you considered that a lot of people fall in love with others based on who they are as PEOPLE rather than out of any desire or ability to procreate?

If you honestly believe all that tripe I've gotta say, YOU'RE the one objectifying the concept of romance by trying to boil it down to some crude biological need, and you've been deceived way worse than anybody else in this topic, "venom of the serpent" (whatever THAT is) notwithstanding. I hope maybe one day you understand what love actually means as opposed to the ludicrous lies you've been sold.

scott i am going to actually thank you in person at brickfair for this post, whenever i see you next

  2. so i'm a huge Rock Band fan (been playing for years; i do custom charts and everything), and i need to talk about rhythm games to people who might kind of care instead of ranting at my half-dozen twitter followers who largely don't give a flying V. someone on bzpower has to be interested in this stuff, right? (i'm kidding. i know someone is. harmonix actually follows black six on twitter. look if you don't believe me)

anyway, i thought in light of today's DLC announcement for Rock Band 4, and with the game just over a month away, it would be a good time to try and start up a thread about this stuff here. so hey, what are people's thoughts on the second coming of rock games? personally i'm disappointed in harmonix's choice to leave out keys in RB4...but i'm holding out hope for an upgrade sometime in the future. the setlist looks decent, but there are so many songs on there that i'd so much rather play with a keyboard.

(also, since Rock Band/Guitar Hero is still kind of too specific for a thread on BZP, i figure this could also serve as a rhythm game general thread. knock yourselves out)

  3.

I heard from Grayson that Kevin Hinkle himself purchased the Gali figure and intended to put it on display at Lego's Enfield offices; did that end up going through?

(also have you sold the purple G2 kakama because i Want it)

Yup, Gali has been shipped off and has probably arrived in Enfield by now. As for the kakama, that was sold a while ago.

oh nice! congratulations; that's a rare accomplishment.

(also i'm disappointed about the kakama but entirely unsurprised)

  4. fantastic work as usual; in fact, i think you've outdone yourself on some of these. the Gali figure and the steampunk masks are absolutely incredible. kinda makes the simplistic designs that i request look bland by comparison, heh. i heard from Grayson that Kevin Hinkle himself purchased the Gali figure and intended to put it on display at Lego's Enfield offices; did that end up going through?

  5. I have a golden Vahi, a Disk of Time, a golden Ignika and a movie edition Kraahkan. Don't know which one is the rarest.

generally you can compare rareness of collectibles by looking at the average prices on Bricklink. of those four, the movie edition Kraahkan is probably the rarest (there are no gold Ignikas on Bricklink at the moment, though, and that could mean any number of things).

Probably either the Hero pack (The only promotional item I have) or Titan Mata Nui.

    Yeah, DEFINITELY Mata Nui.

unless you're being sarcastic, i have to disagree. Toa Mata Nui may have been a store-exclusive set, but promotional packs pretty much instantly win over store exclusives.

I wasn't being sarcastic. A ~$200 set with an exclusive mask -marketed as limited edition- vs a ~$3 pack that you got when you bought anything at all from the online shop. We'll see in a few years, though.

Toa Mata Nui cost $50. the Hero Pack had a limited run. we'll see.

  9. I might say the rarest collectibles I have are my masks of time and the mask of wisdom, a chrome hau shaped mask. I guess also that my mint Tahu mata is rare? I don't think I have anything unheard of, maybe besides my green and red ruru masks...

the green and red Rurus are misprints, and are actually pretty rare - far more so than the Vahi and Rua. the 2001 misprint masks can go for pretty steep prices on Bricklink.

  10. i have a number of prototypes which i don't remember all of at the moment, as well as a misprint brown Matatu and a clear NYCC Hau (although i doubt that that last one is in the same league as the rest).

I bought a 14k Gold Hau from Shapeways a while ago. Might sell it to some fool at a huge markup later on.

Would that really count though, what with it not being an official piece?

i'd say custom stuff doesn't count at all.

  11. i don't see an Exo-Force reboot happening. it was one of those things that Lego tried once, and while it was pretty successful, the concept was so far out of left field that it probably won't happen again, at least not in the exact same form. especially not now, because Ninjago is currently filling a somewhat similar role in Lego's lineup, and it's way more popular than Exo-Force ever was.

Knights Kingdom is a definite possibility, i think, because Lego tends to cycle through various incarnations of their medieval lines, and KK seems like it's due for being the next one. the story and characters would definitely help it in Lego's post-Bionicle G1, story-centric lineups.

Alpha Team? nah. every few years Lego puts out another secret agent line, each with no relation to the rest and all pretty derivative. IMO just because AT was the first doesn't really mean it deserves a reboot.

Sumiki is right that Lego technically could reboot just about any theme and make it successful at this point (biggest toy company in the world etc etc), but i think right now Lego is more focused on creating new lines, and that's a good thing. currently, they have three majorly story-driven lines, each with an original concept, and it's not unlikely that the number of these themes could increase in coming years. i'd much prefer that over a reboot of, say, Exo-Force (a line that i adored in its heyday) with a shoddy story that would likely die out quickly.

  12. A super-powerful time-travelling force from the future is trying to make all franchises gender-equal (50% dudes, 50% dudettes).

gender-equal means also including people who aren't male or female (i.e. nonbinary people). if these hypothetical people are from far enough into the future that they have time travel, they'd know that.

so in the spirit of that: Kopaka and Tahu are guys. Gali and Pohatu are girls. Lewa and Onua are nonbinary.

(although honestly, if i had my way, Onua and Tahu would also be girls....)
