  1. if you're doing VGC don't bother with hazards. very little switching goes on in Doubles, so it's really just a waste of a moveslot. nevertheless, Tyranitar would still be a good choice. maybe even an Assault vest set - ridiculous Special Defense when in the sand, and still has a fantastic offensive presence.

  2. Is it worth putting on a storm drain Quagsire on my competitve team?

    Or Gyrados?

    Or Bisharp?

    Or Azumarill?

these are all completely different and it really depends on what the rest of your team is and what your team needs.

Quagsire is a wall to set-up sweepers

Gyarados is a set-up sweeper, whose main strength is being able to remove his Rock and severe Electric weakness by Mega Evolving and getting a free Dragon Dance

Bisharp punishes Defog and Sticky Web users

and Azumarill is a wallbreaker/late game cleaner.

decide which of these fits best onto your team, and go with that. and if you use Quagsire, always use Unaware. it's garbage without it.

    Introvert(56%) Sensing(1%) Thinking(1%) Judging(11%)
    • You have moderate preference of Introversion over Extraversion (56%)
    • You have marginal or no preference of Sensing over Intuition (1%)
    • You have marginal or no preference of Thinking over Feeling (1%)
    • You have slight preference of Judging over Perceiving (11%)

I'm an ISTJ, whatever that is? I'm really not sure I trust the results here, because a lot of the questions I couldn't answer accurately either way, so it felt a bit like flipping a coin. I'm not sure I got anything useful out of it. Only bits of the ISTJ description ring true.

pretty much exactly this. i'm also an ISTJ, apparently. i don't quite remember the percentages and i accidentally closed the page with them lol, but i think it was moderate Introvert, slight or no Sensing, significant Thinking and moderate Judging if it matters at all.

  4. yes, whether you're using Protect or behind a Substitute or whatever, you'll die to Perish Song no matter what. the only things that are not affected by Perish Song are Pokemon with Soundproof as their ability, but those Pokemon are usually pretty niche or have other, better abilities so there's not much to worry about there.

  5. oh yeah you could. forgot that Shadow Tag doesn't affect allies.

but yeah that set alone is pretty much one of the prime reasons why Mega Gengar was banned under Smogon's rules. it can just come in, kill a Pokemon that walls your main sweeper with absolutely no effort, and then you're free to wreck the rest of their team with your Pokemon of choice.

  6. ...

    oh my

omh my god that is a very scary thought

talk about a suicide sendout ._.

it's gets better: it doesn't even have to be a suicide because MGengar can switch out on the last turn of Perish Song, but no one else can. of course you end up killing your teammate in VGC format but it's still broken as heck.

  7. still need help evolving that Porygon if it's not a bother to anyone. i really just wish they would do away with trade evolutions though to be honest.

also i'll repost my FC here in case anyone still needs it:

    0318-6676-6286

i don't really know who i haven't added yet but if you add my FC and it doesn't tell you "You are now friends with Squishy!" then just tell me and i'll add you back. =)

  8. if i had the time and attention span i would breed up 60 or so competitive 'mons but the problem is i don't have the time or the attention span

i agree that Smogon's rules are generally the best and what we should use at least as a rough guideline

in other news i've been hatching Porygons like mad hoping to get a 5IV one with Trace. i eventually got four 5IV ones... but they all had Download. in the end i just got an Ability Capsule because i couldn't be asked to breed any more but if anyone wants a 5-4IV Porygon i now have plenty. also if anyone would be kind enough to help me evolve mine it would be appreciated(i want a Porygon-Z so we'd have to trade twice btw).

  9. whew i finished transferring all of my stuff from White 2. it's kind of a pain that it only transfers one box at a time and you have to keep switching games and stuff but i got it done i guess.

and i'd be totally down for a BZP tournament thing but i'd probably make a new team first now that i have access to Pokebank stuff and i don't know how long it would take for me to decide on stuff and then actually breed it so

also sorry to bring up Zygarde again but today i randomly decided to check the IVs on mine(i never bothered to soft reset for a good one because i never thought i'd use it). it has perfect HP, Attack and Speed, which is pretty much perfect for a Dragon Dance set, and could even be used for a Coil set. i know that Legendaries always have 3 perfect IVs, but for a completely random draw it's pretty good. it's also Lonely nature, which isn't the best, but all in all it's still perfectly usable, especially with a bit of support. he might find a place on my aforementioned new team, even if it's just because Zygarde looks awesome, lol.

  10. yeah i saw that Yamask can get Toxic Spikes too; it should be a neat new tool for support Cofagrigus, but it's too bad that it has bad synergy with Will-O-Wisp.

as for Wonder Trade, there's no real trick to it. it just picks a random person, so you might get something good, or you might just get a bunch of Weedles and Bidoofs.

  11. sucks that Pokebank's been delayed. i was really looking forward to transferring all of the Pokemon on my White 2 and then starting my first Nuzlocke, but oh well.

the only things i managed to get off of the GTS were a Yamask and a Porygon, so if anyone wants one of those i can get you one.

  12. so i found my first Friend Safari shiny today - a pretty little Audino. =3 nearly had a heart attack when she appeared though lol

also would anyone mind helping me evolve my Karrablast?

EDIT: nevermind that about the Karrablast - Turtleman helped me out on it. =)

  13. ok since i don't want to turn this into a thread about whether Zygarde is good or not i'm going to drop it here. if you want to discuss this via PM i'd be happy to though.

in Wonder Trade news i got another Marill with Belly Drum and Aqua Jet, which means it's time to start breeding for a good Marill now that i have access to Dittos in Kohaku's Safari.

  14. alright i'm sorry to unleash my nerdy rage on you X but Zygarde is not awful at all

Dragon/Ground is a great typing both defensively and offensively, he has better physical and special bulk than Hippowdon, and decent offensive stats which can be boosted with Dragon Dance as well as Coil(it's also really easy to set up with Zygarde due to his titanic bulk, which can be further bolstered by Coil). combine all of that with access to ESpeed and you have a very diverse and interesting Dragon unlike we've ever seen, one that is not outclassed by anything else but seemingly doesn't fill any predetermined niche.

i feel the reason a lot of people say Zygarde is bad is because they'll take one look at his typing and offensive stats and say "inferior Garchomp", or go a little more in-depth and say "if I want a bulky Dragon to set up with i'll use Dragonite who has Multiscale and a much better movepool", without realizing that Zygarde isn't trying to do what Garchomp does at all(and is therefore not outclassed by him), and he has certain qualities that set him apart from DNite(Coil, electricity immunity and resistance to Stealth Rock come to mind).

    ...

wow i'm really sorry you had to read that semi-rant but i just had to say it

but hey it's cool that you got one off of Wonder Trade.

also i battled a passerby last night who had TWO Xerneas's AND and Yveltal. the worst part was i could have easily won but he haxed me so bad i lost.

    .-.

that's crazy. that's really, really crazy.

Two Xerneas(es? Xerneai?)? Jeeze, either they had 3 games, or they restarted their X twice to get those Xerneas(es/i)

i don't even think they were even his to begin with. his greeting was "XERNEAS PLEEEEASE" and they had Japanese names, whereas his Yveltal had its English name. i'm just surprised he wasn't using Mewtwo, Zygarde and one of the legendary birds for his other team members.

What was the rest of his team, anyways?

and I know how i'm going to competitively battle with passerbys.

party full of alternating ditto and wobbofetts.

    why?

why not, it would be hilarious to see the reactions.

if i recall correctly, the rest of his team was a Lucario, a Mega Blaziken, and a Doublade. i didn't save the replay because it was such an awful battle.

    and don't you mean
