Oh gosh, it's been a while. Seriously, I haven't been on here for over a year. It's kinda nice to be back.
Right now I'm in the lovely state of Virginia, sitting with awesome people, reflecting over an amazing week. What kinda of amazingness you may ask?
Brickfair.
I was lucky enough to be able to come to Brickfair this year with my sister, Nikira. We were picked up from our house on Wednesday afternoon by Hahli Husky, Senjo, and Friar Tuck. Then came the long 8 hours drive to Virginia, passing through Pennsylvania once and West Virginia twice. We arrived at our place of temporary residence, the home of one Smeagol4. He was gracious enough to open his abode to us, as well as to others. I got to meet some amazing staffers, including Darth Vader, InnerRayg, Black Six! The only bad thing that happened was that DV and Rayg lost their luggage, which was so very sad. :< We all went to bed exhausted.
The next day, we went over to the convention center to register and start setting up the tables. First off, I gotta say that the Brickfair badges are incredible. They are so much fun. Anywho, after we set up and the opening ceremonies were over(there were door prizes and bingo), Smeag went to pick up another staffer(ToM Dracone) and we all went to dinner. Well, most of us went to dinner. A lot of people got very lost and confused, but the food was good, so it was worth it.
The only thing I can remember about Friday was we went grocery shopping.....that's all.....and we ate Tacos for dinner. They were amazing.
Saturday was the first public day, which is where normal people who aren't crazy and come at normal times get to come and look at all the fun stuff. We spent most of the day just hanging out and people-watching. When these normal people were kicked out (around 4), we spent a while looking around at all the vendors, finding all sorts of treasures and spending way too much money. I mainly bought little random things that i didn't need but really wanted. That also included a minifigure which I hastily put on my Brickfair badge. She's a pirate. She is amazing. After we left and came back to the dwelling place, HH and Senjo made us this amazing pasta. It was INCREDIBLE!!
Sunday was the second public day, but some of us played hookie and didn't go. ToM, HH, Smeag, Niki, Senjo, Tuck and I stayed behind cause we really wanted to go swimming. Like, really bad. So, that's what we did. We got up at a ripe hour of 11, then we chilled for a little while, and then we went swimming. It was fun and stuff. We came back around 3:30 and Niki and I attempted to make lunch/dinner. It worked, but we were rushed so we had to eat on the run. We went back to the center around 4:40 and helped tear down some stuff. Closing ceremonies then ensued and there were more door prizes. So many staffers won things, and even some staffers who didn't come to Brickfair won stuff(kinda; they technically had to be there in order to win). We were all truly ecstatic for everyone. Shortly after the door prizes were all given away and people dispersed, we all started a pow-wow and planned for dinner. The staffers wanted to have a fancy dinner night where we all dress up in nice clothes and go eat foodz. We did so, and the amazing Steve Witt joined us for an amazing night of frivolity and food.
So that's where I am now. I'm sitting at the place of residence, listening to people talk. We're going to be able to sleep in, chill tomorrow, and pack. It will be awesome. I will be sad to say goodbye to people, but I'm content knowing this: Brickfair 2011 is only one year away, and I'll be able to see all these amazing people again.
