Kind of like Knives.
Knives Chau, that is.
Except his name's actually just Matau. Not Sawblades.
There's also this one if you want an alternate view. He's still a WIP because his back needs filling in and I'm not 100% satisfied with the torso, but I wanted to post something before I'm separated from my pieces for six weeks...
Apparently this is what happens when I finally acquire the Turaga's Kanohi. I don't remember how exactly the idea for his weapons came to be, but i

Days left until I leave for college again: 1.5

I just realized I don't think I've blogged about my summer job at all this year. Huh. But then, I haven't blogged too much in general.
Anyway! I did the same thing as I did last summer, working for NYPIRG (the New York Public Interest Research Group), canvassing again – going door-to-door, for those not in the know – raising money for environmentalism and other awesome things like that. The difference being that now I'm better at it, so it took me three weeks to earn what I did in the month a
After Ray photobombing Andrew and Pat being terrifying, apparently:
It doesn't quite tie with Ray, but I think this is a very close second in the photobomb game this year.
Also noticing a trend here: photos of Andrew are often epic?

And now we come to another one of the best parts of Brickfair: what I got there! (Slightly after the epic people and memories in order of awesomeness.) And I got quite a lot.
Might as well start with sets. I got the Medieval Market Village, the Deep Sea Striker (a.k.a. the giant scorpion from the Atlantis line), and Rotor for 50% off at Casual Shopping with the Bulls, then won the Shadow Crawler from Exo-Force in Bingo (it's the one with the lime Kodan claw, which is all that matters), and fi
Prior to one week ago, my repertoire of BZP members I had met consisted of only two: Black Six and HauNuva (if anyone even remembers him).
That has changed now, and so I shall list everyone as a sort of thank-you for all the amazing memories they provided me! Smeagol4 (attacked me as I got out of the airport) Janus (see above) Darth Vader (protected me from the above two) Hahli Husky (Disney singalong <3) Senjo (is a spectacular cook, and can do just about anything!) Nikira (is beautiful!)
Oh my god.
Brickfair was basically the best weekend of my life. In brief. I'll be going into detail a lot more in later entries, but I think that will do nicely as a summary for now. I met so many awesome people and we had epic times hanging out and at Brickfair and dressing up in fancy clothes to go to completely non-fancy restaurants (with Steve Witt!). It was amazing getting to see all these friends I knew online in person, and their MOCs and art (had some fun sketchbook exchanges with Ray
Also, me.
And this is in thanks to a couple lovely new orders of Lego pieces that just came in!
In 24 hours I leave for Brickfair. Oh my god oh my god oh my god OH MY GOD

Also bannertime!
You guys should go check it out. I had so much fun making the banner. I'm so glad that scene exists from 2002. It's perfect for this contest. XD
also one week till Brickfair AAAAAAHHHHHH!

Backstory: One of my friends has the Fallingwater set, so I've seen/played with it a lot before now. Always thought it was a great set design-wise, but kind of lacking in the visual appeal area. Now, I'm on vacation, visiting family, and my uncle got my grandfather (who is an architect himself) the Fallingwater set as a random present, so he (my grandfather) had me come over and build it for him today. It took a long time.
Back to the present, and having looked at all the photos of the real F

Guys
I just bought my plane tickets to fly down to and from Washington DC on a certain weekend early in August
I AM OFFICIALLY GOING TO BRICKFAIR.
OH MY GOD.

I came to a realization, a few minutes ago while just thinking about random stuff:
Almost all of the revelations of long-standing Bionicle mysteries that I've hated were revealed for the sake of revealing them, rather than because they had any relevance to the plot at the time. The ones that were relevant to the plot, I did like.
Where the Bohrok came from -> Avotoran? Possibly the single plot development I hate the most of all of Bionicle. Was it revealed through some actual element of
It really feels like the WIP from six entries ago is going to end up using every single black axle/pin I have. Probably won't quite get there, but I don't remember the last time I built something with so many of them so close together. It also makes me really glad I've been stocking up on random green and lime Technic pieces for the past few years, because I've used a heck of a lot of them.
Relatedly, I feel like I should just buy extra copies of the interestingly-colored pieces from certain
New short story! Please go read and hopefully review it.
It's really a scene more than a full short story, a reimagination of the time Helryx appears on the deck of the Shadowed One's ship and stops him from destroying Xia. I really didn't remember how the original scene played out, and only looked it up as I was writing so I could get what happened correct. But I kept my initial image of it, wherein Helryx had enlisted the Dark Hunters anonymously and, since I had forgotten about them, the T
First time I've taken advantage of the new sig guidelines. It made me feel ... tingly.

I'll probably make more later. I have a few ideas bouncing around in my head for things that can be done with crabs and banners. In the mean time please do use if you too want to see the below entry happen!

I've had this idea brewing in my head for literally a year. And since Kohaku agreed with it, here we go:
We should assemble a massive army of Bionicle crabs at Brickfair.
Seriously. Think about how spectacular that would be. If loads of us BZPers who came to Brickfair or sent MOCs brought along a crab or two each, we could very quickly assemble an awful lot of them. People can build Ussals in various colors, bring Hahnah crabs from Jaller Mahri, and maybe even a few Rock Ussals from the VN
It's been a long while since I've gone out and taken photos of Tohunga around my yard. I miss it. I mean, partly it's because I've been at college and all that, but it's also been because of a lack of new Kanohi from which to make new Tohunga. But I have some now!
First up is Shenyu, whom those of you who have been with me for a loooong time just may remember.
He's the reason I've been craving a dark blue Miru since 2003. He's a Ga-Matoran (and yes, male) who goes on a series of adven
I usually don't get involved in these mass popular effort-type things, but I had an idea last night for a banner for the 10th graphic novel, and since I can never resist making banners, here it is:
That's a link, by the way. Seems like a worthy cause.
Feel free to comment on the banner itself and things like that here.

Just felt like taking this picture, which I've kind of wanted to for a while.
The rarer masks that I have. I was debating between the infected Hau and the gold Vahi for the seventh slot and eventually chose the Hau just because I felt like the Vahi was slightly more common. Slightly. More opportunities to get it, and in cheaper sets. Plus I have four of them and only one infected Hau... so yeah.
Still on my list are a copper Komau, maybe a yellow Kaukau, and really any of the misprin
I feel the need to splurge about this somewhere.
Yesterday, at long last, I watched Glee for effectively the first time (all I had seen before was about fifteen minutes from "Wheels"). Since, you know, I've been at college the whole time it's been on (no time to watch) and don't ever watch TV or TV shows anyway. But, a couple friends and I got pizza and had a Glee-watching party for the benefit of the two of us who hadn't seen it before.
And.
I'm in love. Only an afternoon and I'm addic
Really? Did I really let that happen?
Dangit. I guess I did.
Yeah. I wasn't planning on going the whole second half of the semester without an update here. It just sort of happened. You know how it is. Especially if you're in college.
In my defense, I'm not sure I've ever had a more eventful two months. Performed in two concerts with my acapella group. Went on a date for the first time. I had three weeks of insanity at the very end – one week with an enormous assignment or a test every
Since I missed it, thanks for all the birthday wishes over in my birthday topic, guys! Sorry I didn't post in it; I saw it earlier in the day and then kinda forgot to check back until it was too late...
Spring break ended two days ago for me, so I actually had a couple festivity-things before coming back here. One was just with my parents, where I got Enchanted and Slumdog Millionaire (<3 both), the new Celtic Woman CD, Songs from the Heart (as great as ever), and a couple more practical t
There we go. As always, you can find more pictures over in the gallery (once that becomes public). There are a few alternates of the entry picture (the far left) using different lighting; I eventually settled on the one I did because I thought it best combined aesthetically pleasing light with clarity of the details of the MOC.
And if I may say so myself, that hammer is one of my favorite things I've ever built. Had a lot of fun with it.
Now, off to enter this on BS01...

I finally went out and got some large sheets of black construction paper. Well, thicker than that, slightly. 'Posterboard,' I guess, but I think of the thick kind when I say that... moot point.
I put it to good use today already. You'll see the fruits of that tomorrow. (Though you might be able to guess from the above teaser.) Also, I left my normal camera at college, so I got to use my dad's professional one for these... gods, I love having actual depth to MOC photos. My normal camera's
