Hapori Tohu
The Ninjago Month reviews continue as September progresses. Today I take a look at 70727 X-1 Ninja Charger, one of the sets from the summer wave of LEGO Ninjago sets. Will this set speed its way into your LEGO collection or will it be left spinning its wheels on a store shelf? Check out our text and video reviews to find out for yourself! Aanchir
The basketball hoop in this set is actually not black, but rather Titanium Metallic — which, in my opinion, is even cooler! It's kind of strange that the Nindroid Drone minifigure in this set wears the same headgear that's usually reserved for Nindroid Warriors. I don't mind because when I get this set I plan to swap his legs for the short ones from my spare Lloyd Garmadon fig from 2012, so that I can have a Min-Droid figure without having to buy 70726 Destructoid and get duplicate Zane and General Cryptor figs. And anyway, if I wanted to use it as a generic Nindroid Drone all I'd have to do is remove the headgear. Overall, I really like this set, and as soon as I got a good look at it I knew I'd be opting for it rather than 70721 Kai Fighter. Kai Fighter is cool, but 9442 Jay's Storm Fighter already gave me all that I could ask for in a fantasy swing-wing jet aircraft. But X-1 Ninja Charger is a muscle car, something the Ninjago theme has not had in any previous wave! Plus, again, I already have a General Cryptor minifigure and don't need another one. The Nindroid vehicles in this set are not particularly enticing but they help level the playing field a bit. Good review overall! 1 Quote Latest MOC: PAIGE (Prototype Artificial Intelligence, Gynoid Expression)
