Translucent Avohkii Variants

Before someone points out that there's an old topic with almost this eact same name, I know. So don't! It doesn't answer the question I have and is locked anyway...

 

I'm absolutely positive I've seen somewhere before that there are at least two Variants of the Translucent Avohkii from the 2004 Takanuva set but I can't find much information to either confirm or deny this... The only picture I can find which lends some credence to this is posted below and belongs to 'Red Shadow' at MOC pages. It's not a great shot but is better than the one I was able to take myself! Here is some of his collection including two distinctly different Avohkiis...

 

 

Looking through my own masks today I came across several of my own Avohkii which seemed to be slightly more transparent than the other slightly greener ones. I know it's weird but look at yours, they are kinda green! Anyway, here is a comparison shot of what I think is probably the most distinctly different one in my own collection. It's not a great shot but you can see th colouring in general is more transparent in the one on the left while the one on the right shows more of the greenish tinge which all my other standard masks seem to also share.

 

Any thoughts? Is this just a slightly different glitter mix? Is it common, uncommon, rare? Where did it come from? And why? And how! 

 

Also, what's the correct plural of Avohkii... Is it Avohkiis? I wrote it that way but it doesn't seem right. Then I wrote it Avohkii and that seems better. It's tricky because there is only one Avohkii in the sense of lore and storytelling but in reality there are many and it's nice to know how to address them

Any time LEGO makes transparent pieces with any sort of colour in them there are bound to be slight variations. For instance, Strakk's helmet and armour can be found with varying amounts of white and trans-ice blue. I've only even owned one glitter Avohkii so I can't compare them myself, but I would guess that's what happened here. I can't speak to how uncommon the variations are, but I wouldn't call them rare.

 

Regarding plurals, I think adding an s is technically incorrect (in the same way "Bionicles" is incorrect) but most people, myself included, do it anyways.

I think the "green" you're referring to is from an increased gold glitter count, but yeah, there tend to be those kinds of variations. It's a given, especially with any piece of multiple colors. Looks pretty cool, though.

Given that I found 3 which seem to be lacking the greenish tint out of a selection of about 15 of these things they probably can't be called rare. They're certainly interesting though!

 

I've always been really impressed by how consistent the mixed colour pieces are, like the infected Hau for example. I don't really know how the molds work for these multicoloured pieces but am always surprised by how little variation there seems to be in them. Perhaps as you say, transparent mixes are harder to get consistently identical.

This looks like they just went a little light on the glitter on that one.
