Protectors of Generations Past: Leviathan - WATER

Recommended Posts

Gamut

Good day, This is my remake of the mod I did for the protector of water, the Leviathan. Feel free to let me know what you think

Build

I tried to make a dragon themed protector and incorporated elements that would make her exemplify qualities of a Leviathan: An undersea creature that is difficult to escape from underwater. A being that is so inseparable from the sea that she is more comfortable under than on dry land. The claws on her feet and dragon tail at the rear are meant to give a deadly, inhuman feel, such that even though she is a protector, she is somewhat of a beast at the same time.

Some other dragon points I tried to bring out are the sort of layered scale design for the chest (a la the blue/white Y connectors), and a rhakshi carapace on the tail to give it a weightier appearance.

No hidden chest launcher this time though. :P

Visually this model is very cluttered. The colours of the model are spread unevenly and in many cases only appear in one or two places on the model. I'd try restricting the number of colours in the model and making sure the small pieces blend in with their surrounding's.

As a final note, the Rakshi head on the torso is ingenious.

I think the Rahkshi head looks awkward because of its angle - it sticks out the most at the middle of the torso. There's too much going on and the colour mix doesn't help. Even with the description, the MOC doesn't look dragon-like to me. With the size of the pieces that you're using and the MOCing style, maybe a G1 titan sized MOC would work better;  even basic CCBS shells and the piston add-on look big on Protectors.

Detailing with small System or Technic pieces can enhance the look of a MOC, but it can easily get messy if you use the larger CCBS/BBS pieces instead.
