Retiring Red Sox Hitter David Ortiz Immortalized in LEGO Bricks

Yesterday, in celebration of Fenway Park's "LEGO Day", the LEGO Group debuted a 170-pound, 34,510-brick sculpture of Boston Red Sox designated hitter David Ortiz, who is currently playing his final season with the team. ESPN.com interviewed Master Model Builder Erik Varszegi, who led the construction of the life-size sculpture at the LEGO Group's US headquarters in Enfield. The model recreates everything from Ortiz's arm tattoos to his signature home-run victory pose.
