Just Voted

Woke up, ate breakfast, went to my morning Econ class, did an hour workshop for my English class, Voted for Mitt Romney/Paul Ryan (and all the other things I could vote for -- I looked at each measure/candidate extensively last night before choosing which way I would vote). And I am wearing my Les Miserables T-shirt. A great day.     If you live in the US, and are legally able to, go vote! Go do it. Take advantage of this great Right we have and go vote. And don't just vote for the President

To The Stars

:: ::  My collection of Stars is now complete. Of course, now that means I must review them.   I do hope to indepthly review each with spiffy pictures and all that, but for now [considering I'm not at home and on vacation for the next couple days], you'll have to do with just quick notes on each. For the most part, I am quite pleased. But enough of that. I believe I've already talked about Tahu and Takanuva [both of their masks are the main problem -- too small for Tahu, and should be white

Short Story Review Pass

The Ambage Short Story Review Pass   To write well, you need constructive criticism. No writer is perfect -- everyone can improve. Therefore, reviews are necessary.   Everyone posts stories on BZPower to get feedback. This "Review Pass" system will help with that. A "you scratch my back, I'll scratch yours" type of thing. Or rather, "I'll scratch his and you scratch mine and she'll scratch yours and he'll scratch hers and she'll scratch his, etc."   Here's how it works: You review the reques

Platonish

“Platonish” And Why It Was Such a Great Episode (some spoilers to follow)   “Platonish,” season nine, episode nine of How I Met Your Mother, is my favorite episode in HIMYM’s recent history. Without a doubt it’s my favorite episode so far this season (and apparently I’m not alone in thinking that, either, as it’s the highest rated episode so far this season on IMDb), and it’s one of my favorites from the past couple seasons.   There’s been a few disappointing episodes the last couple s

5 Years

So today marks my 5-year BZ-anniversary. Forgot completely about it until I saw that I had an Olmak. Half a decade, wow. Lot of memories from this place. Many awesome people that I've met, and, most importantly, the beginning of my writing career. Thank you, BZPower.   And because I didn't write anything specifically for my anniversary, I'll just shamelessly plug my new poem again. =P COT literature always gets buried so quickly...Anyway, here's to many more half-decades on BZPower!   Oceans. Top Ten Tuesday #14: Books Most Intimidating

~ :: :: ~ July 2: Top Ten Most Intimidating Books Les Miserables, by Victor Hugo. Mostly just because of its size. I absolutely love the story, and really want to read this book, but it is a little daunting. The Count of Monte Cristo, by Alexandre Dumas. Basically the same as above. And, really, also The Three Musketeers. Jack Ryan series, by Tom Clancy. Simply because they're so many, and mostly large books. They're fast reads, though, so not all that intimidating. Ender's Game,

What are you doing at 11am?

If the answer is not "having second breakfast" then unfortunately your answer is wrong. Join in!! Take part! In honor of the 75th anniversary of the publication of the Hobbit, people are dedicating 11am to a "second breakfast" to celebrate Hobbit-style!   Happy Tolkien Week, everyone! And enjoy that food!   ~ Velox

What I Love About San Francisco

The Weather [yes, capitalization is necessary]. Oh. My. Gosh. It's like, always foggy, and if not, it's always cold. <3 Unfortunately, however, I hate the city itself. Like, if Los Angeles [the perfect city =P] had San Francisco weather [the perfect weather], then that would be amazing.   Anyway, I just spent the day there, going to Ghirardelli Square, a used book store [The Green Apple, if anyone's curious], my aunt's house [unfortunately my uncle wasn't there (her husband), but my other u

Dear Bbc

Please follow the BBC guidelines. I mean, don't you just hate it when people say... Whoa! 10/10! that's so kool! 100000000000/10! Dat Stupid! I hatz it! NEEDS MOAR CUSTOM!!! Why isn't it custom? 2/10 The legs need to be custom!!! 6/10. ....It's rather annoying, now isn't it? Especially the custom part. I mean, AN MOC DOES NOT NEED TO BE CUSTOM. What an MOC needs, is to have proportions right, and color layering correct. If you're building a Toa, make the arms shorter than

What Is This Madness?

Specifically, this post 'till the end of the topic.   Though then again, I think "awesomeness" might be a better adjective.   ~ Velox

Oh No

School starts in less than 11 hours!   Where has the summer gone?   Sigh.   So uh. Yeah. Expect my activity to lessen from now on. =P   Also, ready . . . set . . . book suggestions!   I was looking through that old entry of mine, and realized that I still haven't read most of the books people recommended there. Well, I hope to go to a used bookstore soon [book Off], and supposedly they have a lot of books for like a buck each, so I hope to buy a bunch.   - Velox

Sigh

:: ::  I really want to write something, but I don't know what, and I don't feel like writing the five things that are already in-the-works.   Inspire me?   In other news, I hope to get the Writer's Club started by the end of next Sunday; I still would like a few more people to officially join, though [you can post here if you want to].   And on Wednesday I take the PSAT. Good news is that I get out of school at 11:30. Bad news is that I have to take a boring test.   Also, Midterms are

Kiina

Only one word describes her: Awkward.   I don't really see how she's seen as proportionate, either. The torso is too short, and the arms seem to be too long. Then there's the torso itself that's just awkward. And then the helmet. It looks pretty cool, but not feminine -- less so than the Kaukau Olda and Faxon. Her double-sided trident is odder than just a single one with an extended pole [not that I'm complaining, as that is a lovely weapon]. And then her armor. I half like it and half don't l

New Computer

So my old laptop died, and it looked like trying to fix it would cost a fairly good amount, plus I needed a new laptop anyway, so my dad decided he'd get me a new one. Ended up being able to get this:     Acer Aspire Ultrabook M5-581T-6405   Really, really happy with it. Ended up costing ~$100 less too because it was a display model. I was originally planning on actually waiting 7-10 days for them to ship one to a nearby store (as no one had it in stock), but when visiting my local BestBuy they

What I'm Doing This Summer

1. Getting my freakin driving permit. I've put this off far too long [i mean, I could have my license in two days (I'll be 16) if I wanted to, but I haven't started anything yet].   2. Writing 750 words a day, at least. There's this awesome site where you write 750 words a day, and after each day, it'll show you frequently used words and some other stats [there's also badges you can get for completing this however many days in a row and stuff]. I would link to it [really, it is an awesome site

Rick Santorum

I really need to use this more...Been quite busy as of late, but now that basketball season is over I should have more free time and not be as much of a lurker. I also think I lose my PMship soon; may or may not renew.   Anyway, to the subject of this entry: The presidential candidate I currently support.   Right now my favorite is definitely Rick Santorum as there's hardly anything I dislike about him.. Rick Perry was my favorite, but as he dropped out that now goes to Santorum.   Newt Gingrich

Updates Entry

Few things that I've been meaning to blog about but never have: The Hunger Games ~ Been reading through the series; I'm a little more than a third through Mockingjay right now. I actually like them. While the writing isn't the best, and the present tense bugged me at first, but I've gotten used to it and now I really enjoy them. I'm quite excited to finish the series. Will blog about it more when I do, most likely. I haven't seen the movie yet, but I plan to soon. Speaking of movies ~ The D

A Beautiful Celebration

So I was Confirmed today. For those who don't know, it means I received one of the Seven Roman Catholic Sacraments today - that of Confirmation. I'm sure 55555, What?, ChocolateFrogs, and any one else that's Catholic will know what I'm talking about.   Anyway, it was cool. And long. Like two hours or something. But fun none-the-less.   And... I'm going to lunch right now, I think, with my family. So, I'll probably blog later...   Oh, and I'm re-writing Requiescat In Pace [reviews are still a

Project: Room Re-Organization. Complete.

So not sure if I've mentioned this before but I'm going to Community College for two years before transferring somewhere else so I can save money.   Point is, I realized that I really needed to reorganize my room to do homework and whatnot, as previously I didn't even have a desk in my room (my computer desk was in the Family Room, which is where I did everything). I also needed more bookshelves, a place to read, and decorations. So over the summer I moved that desk into my room, rearranged my

Murder Mystery

Okay, so, for a long time now I've wanted to write a murder mystery [thanks to Agatha Christie, Sherlock Holmes, and the old TV show called "Columbo"].   Now I have finally started it, finishing the prologue today [and of course, thanks to Nuju for pointing out a few mistakes for me]. This also is one of my entries for this "week's" [since this time it's longer than a week] exercise.   It currently doesn't have a title, but if you guys have any ideas I'd like to hear them. Not sure when I'll

Preparation

Preparation   I typed away furiously at the black keyboard before me. I glanced at the clock on my computer screen. One-hundred words to go, nine minutes left to enter. I focused on the task at hand, pushing all other thoughts aside and only caring about the story in front of me. I continued to type, my stream of consciousness flowing straight from my mind to the keys and subsequently onto the computer. ..........There, I said to myself, finished. I looked at the clock again. Perfect. Three mi

RIP

So last night we had to put our family dog to sleep. =/ He's been kinda sick for a while, but in the past week or two he got exponentially worse. If ever was the idiom "skin and bones" appropriate, it would be for him, from a combination of problems--particularly in the past week. He started eating more than he ever had, but still kept losing a lot of weight. Yesterday he was unable to keep anything down at all, so that was when we decided it was time.   The weirdest thing is that I honestly ha

Shooting Range

Yesterday I shot a handgun for the first time; my sister's boyfriend owns one (S&W 9mm), and as such offered to take me to a shooting range. Was definitely awesome and quite fun. It's funny how easier it is. When I first tried it I was kinda scared and thought it'd be hard, but it's really not, and the blowback isn't bad at all (of course, it gets worse the bigger gun you go, but still). Now I really want to go shooting in the desert with a sniper rifle like he does sometimes as well. I also
