On Tuesday I'll hand in my portfolio at the local university of applied arts, to see whether I might get selected for the actual exam, and, should I pass that, admission to studying arts. That's a huge amount of 'if's, if you ask me. But anyway, this is going to be interesting.
Yesterday during training someone stepped on my hair. Which I of course only realized upon trying to get up, only to find my head being jerked back forecfully. Quite painful, I have to say (what I was doing on the floor? Well, you get thrown down a lot in JiuJitsu. :3 But falling is something I'm okay with at this point). I did not see who did it. Neither did my sister. Nobody apologized. And they surely would have noticed, I am not someone who stays quiet about their pain. Then, in the chang
... D: 2004 was also the year when my interest in Bionicle truly began to blossom. (as in, collecting sets regularly and actually following the storyline). What. How.
I'm currently attending a lab course/practicum about Quantum Optics... which is fun, adjusting lasers and stuff. I'm also quite happy with my two lab partners, they're really nice. The only downside is that I'm at uni from 9:00 to 17:00, which takes up a lot of the day if you include the two hours of travelling there and back again.
Decided to go for a Bionicleized version of the Schroedinger-theme. Also, the "oe" is not a typo. The thing is, the scientist's name was actually Schrödinger, but since I guess the "ö" would not be a legal character I settled for "oe", which is a completely legit, albeit old-fashioned, way of writing that, at least over here.
I have it. Now I have to study everything for the exam within today and tomorrow. This is going to be fun.... not. I wasted so many weekends on being scared of it instead of actually doing that, which is not a good idea. Though I am about halfway through already. (I did start somewhen two weeks ago. That was apparently not enough time. At all.)
So yesterday's test in Electrodynamics went surprisingly well. I was delighted to find that one of the problems was exactly one I had gone through twice in my preparations. And a simple one, too. The first one wasn't so great, but I was able to solve most points except two, so I guess I'll be fine. Today's the exam of 'Physics of Physiological Processes', which I guess should be okay? 3 people in a 30-minute-timeslot means more or less 10 minutes per person, so I hope it will go fine. I did pr
So yesterday my siblings and I got some Gen2 sets, finally. I had almost feared we'd get them later over here, as I sorta remember it happening with Gen1 in the past. Anyway, I already loved Gali's redesign from pictures alone, but the set itself is just as gorgeous IRL. Not having built anything with the CCBS-build (?) before, that was a bit odd, but I was actually pleasantly surprised, clip-on armour or not. She has good poseability and just looks cool. Also, the feeling of unpacking and b
I know that recently my activity around here was quite... eh, let's say barely existent over the past few days, at least posting-wise. This should change again over the next weeks - I still have lots to do, yes, but that should not be an excuse for not being more active in the forums/interacting with all you awesome people, because let's be honest, I do have those twenty minutes to spare every day. (even if most of it is devoted to catching up with mafia happenings. =D) So yeah. Just a small u
Adorable. So adorable. So very very adorable. all scepticism I had is blown away. I love the art style, I do get nostalgic, the humour is okay. Awwwww. :3
that didn't go well. At all. Whether it was enough to be just positive, we'll see. I wish I could be more optimistic, but at the moment it really doesn't look like it. *sadface* Didn't learn enough, apparently, even after quadrupling my efforts... today was a bad day, anyway. I had forgotten my pencil case in the lecture jall, realized half an hour later so I went back for it - but it wasn't there so I interrupted the ongoing lecture for nothing. Thankfully it was at the lost and found, I was
I just realized while going through old problems from the exercise course again (something I didn't do first time - huge mistake, because apparently about 50% of the problems were related to the exercises. woot) that I did learn something; revisiting old problems, in many cases I can actually get to the solution a lot faster than on the first try, and they don't seem as complicated as I remember them to be (most of them, anyway). So that's probably a good sign, and might mean that I kinda unders
I've got an exam on the 18th (actually repeating the one that didn't go so well, which by the way was Theoretical Physics 2: Quantum Mechanics.) , so my preparations are going into their last (and intense!) phase - thus I probably won't be around as much until then. Just thought I'd let you know.
See above comic for a summary. I meant to post this earlier (somewhen around Tuesday evening, I suppose?) but never got around it because from Tuesday to Thursday I'm never home before 19:00-20:00, and then I really don't have the nerve to scan and edit and upload stuff. Anyway. This was drawn on Tuesday evening whilst travelling home, hence scribbliness and stuff. Really though, I now at least know what I hadn't yet understood properly. That's at least something. *optimism*
Today I found out that my favourite alt/gothic store, and essentially the last one in my city that I know of, is closing on the 20th of december. That is super sad. Especially because I had hoped that at least this one would survive; too many disappeared over the past two years.
Disclaimer: I am sure there are many better ways to do this, and in the end every artist has to find thier own approach, but here's one I recently came up with and which I find particularly useful. This is it, basically. Since I don't really have time for a proper tutorial right now, allow me to just quickly explain my current process of drawing hands using this small thing I doodled down in gimp (I know it's a bit wonky, but it gets the point across... I hope). I normally start with sketc
Just a test, some playing with brush settings in gimp, featuring a few characters from ASDT/TOP... today's not been a good day for art, in fact not a good day for anything, as I was feeling quite disoriented in general. See, our alarm didn't go off properly, just some voices whispering silently as opposed to blaring loud music... thankfully I did hear it more or less on time (still 30 minutes too late), but the rest of the morning was kind of rushed, and it feels like I never really did wake u
It appears that I am somewhat allergic to the band-aids we have at home. On the one hand it's 'funny' in a way, because hey, when do you ever have rectangular red spots around your elbow? On the other hand it's obviously annoying because red and itchy and it's around the elbow and I've never really liked those contact allergies, also because they're totally random at times. :/ Oh yeah, and today we had no internet nor telephone for most of the day, until like an hour ago or so. Not good. :<
*sees beautiful notebook* *acquires notebook* *puts notebook on desk* *stares at notebook from across the room* *never dares to write into it* ~~~ Seriously. I collect those things, however, I just cannot bring myself to write into them/use them as a diary or whatever. I even have a few with blank pages and a paper quality that is perfectly suited for drawing. But I just. Can. Not. Annoying. Anyway, for this particular notebook it's even more so because I got it for my birthday a ye
I would like to point out that drawing into a calendar is only a good idea for so long until you create something you actually like. :/ Like that concept I recently doodled up, shown below. Admittedly, this was not done during a lecture, but rather a short break in between, but it still qualifies as doodle for there was no pre-sketching or similar. I like drawing armour, it's always a fun exercise. Even if drawing chainmail is annoying. Anyway, that's one of the deities from a fantasy
