Rpg Chapters

I was thinking of my catastrophically long posts. I like literature. Joining TBRPGs is one of the ways that I practice and prepare myself for literature. I'm beginning to take this more seriously than ever now, especially with my own TBRPG up. I am getting a taste of writing.   Then it occurred to me: What if I labeled some of my longer posts with chapter names? Seriously, some of my posts could make chapters in some books. Perhaps not a chapter in a book such as Brisingr, but they are lon

Rpg Advertising

Many people have tried a large variety of ways of advertising their RPGs. Sometimes they try to give it a catchy title or description, sometimes they put it in their signature as a banner or large link. I have tried both of those, as well as making it look sophisticated and well thought out, but I am considering another method of advertising, one that I have only seen Robo use before.   I got the idea when I was reading the back of the book Brisingr (a filler, if you ask me). There, if I reme

Roseanne Reactions

If you go back far enough into this blog, you'll see that I absolutely LOVE Roseanne. It has a special place in my heart, and has had one ever since that fateful night in a hotel room when I was flipping through the channels and saw a rerun where Becky complains about how she can't have a car, and Darlene begins to feel depression. I related to Darlene and her coming of age so much. Those kids. I loved all of the characters.   And they're back. Every last one of them.   Save, for obvious reasons

Romeo And Juliet Adaptation

Okay, this wasn't an essay of my own accord. It was something I had to do for school, not out of my spare time. However, as you all very well know, I have kind of established myself for being the type to overdo things and take them to the extreme. Surprisingly, this essay was supposed to be a simple compare and contrast, a simple theme to essays that I deem trivial and wonder why we still do it. Compare and contrast essays tend to get a bit generic, and I have looked at other people's work.

Romantic Things That Happen

When I first started college, I made an acquaintance.   Eventually, that acquaintance became a friend.   That friend became a member of my regular group of friends.   She then became a close friend, that I would invite to eat pizza with and stay up late talking about life and stuff like that with.   That close friend went on to become my best friend.   When we were finished with college, my best friend and I both made sure to stay in contact with each other.   I began to notice that this best fr

Rocky Review

Knowing ahead of time that Rocky is a classic, I had certain expectations. For example, I had seen clips of the various other Rockymovies and knew that they included inspirational work-out routines with the music to go with it. This is, after all, the franchise that spawned "Eye of the Tiger". I also knew that my high school track coach, during his inspirational speeches about working hard and constantly pushing the envelope to make exercise a truly sacrificial art, would reference this film

Rock, Paper, Scissors, Lizard, Spock!

It's simple. Scissors cuts paper, paper covers rock, rock crushes lizard, lizard poisons Spock, Spock smashes scissors, scissors decapitates lizard, lizard eats paper, paper disproves Spock, Spock vaporizes rock, and, as it always has, rock smashes scissors.   I got it after the second or third time listening to it. The thing is, whenever I try to explain it to others, they change the subject by the time I get to Spock.   Live long and prosper.

RIP Jerry Lewis

I just found out that he died less than two weeks ago, on August 20. He lived a long and glorious life. Successful as an actor since the mid-40's. What a legend. Happy that he got to experience so much out of life, sad that death comes to even the greats.   27601

RIP Carrie Fisher

She passed away this morning at 8:55, at the age of only 60.   Not to be too darkly humorous too soon, but it looks like they killed off the wrong character in The Force Awakens. Ben Solo is probably going to get orders from Snoke to kill off his mother now, to make his turn to the dark side even more complete. And they had better step up their CGI technology from Rogue One if they want to shoot that scene.   Also, if it's true that only the good die young, then Carrie was a good, good person. T

Rhetorical Errors

In my last entry I pointed out a difference between hypocrisy and logical inconsistencies. Interestingly enough, the example that I gave of a logical inconsistency was a rhetorical error of a rhetorical error. In other words, the presentation of the argument is wrong, although not necessarily the argument itself. This can come from making a bad analogy or a poor generalization or forgetting to clarify something. It' incredibly easy to make rhetorical errors that make you sound like you have

Rey is a...

Skywalker? Kenobi? Palpatine?   We've heard all of the theories. We've speculated on everyone who could be her parents from Luke to Watto. If the character exists in the STAR WARS universe, there is a fan theory out there about how he or she is Rey's parent.   Which is why I think that the only way that Disney is going to surprise us is to make her parents someone from outside of the STAR WARS universe. My hypothesis is that Disney made an agreement before buying Lucasfilm from 20th Century

Revenge of the Fifth

I forgot to make an entry on May 4. Literally, the only Star Wars thing that I did yesterday was to call up a friend who was a fellow Star Wars fan and say the obligatory words.   My kids were a little disappointed that I didn't do anything Star Wars related that day. Another teacher definitely showed me up by bringing a lightsaber. Thing is, I have several toy lightsabers. I have unlisted videos of Youtube of little cousins playing with them at family birthday parties. I even have on video

Retroactively, I don't like Eragon

When I first read that book series, I loved it. In hindsight, I realize just how derivative the whole thing was. Do I regret reading it? No, since it passed the time and kept me entertained, which is a positive for any book, but it still doesn't make them good books. That's like saying that junk food is good food because it tastes good. I'd go through a comprehensive list of everything that was wrong about those books, but in order to truly get into detail, I'd have to re-read them, which I

Respect Vs. Appreciation.

At first, I didn't think that there was anything wrong with what EmperorWhenua had said. It didn't occur to me until recently that there was a slight miswording in his logic.       The error was made in the second sentence. Respect should not be lost, no matter what. What mistake was made here is merely the misuse of the word "respect". Instead, the word "appreciation" should have been used. Thus, the result should have been this.       Remember, it is possible to respect someone while not

Rene

Rene Descartes made famous the line "Cogito ergo sum", translating to "I think, therefore I am." Like a good Neoplatonist, he sought out to prove only things that could be reasoned through means such as mathematics. Yet, what if his math was wrong? What if our reality is completely warped and 2+2 really equals 5 (which in fact it does, for really high values of 2).   And really, what if self-awareness is just an illusion, since how can a unique configuration of atoms known as the brain really

Relating With A Tesseract

A thought occurred to me about Starbuck. How does making the character female change the character? Now granted, there are subtle differences here and there, but really, what's the difference between a girl acting cocky and a guy acting cocky other than the way we perceive it? I cannot speak for the opposite sex, but I suppose that the sensation known as "feeling" is the exact same between the two sexes, although some feelings would come up more commonly in one sex than in the other.   I mean

Regarding Nukaya Cloud Fire

Okay, I'll admit that she's pretty spiff and we've been in some pretty nice conversations. And she looks like Sarah Palin, Tina Fey, and some other famous person. But that doesn't mean that I'll...   Okay, I will jump on the bandwagon. Nukaya is awesome. Everybody make blog entries about it. Now.   And I believe this aptly sums her up:     Your Honor, Emperor Kraggh

Red Dawn Review

I had the opportunity watch Life of Pi or this. Since I don't like watching movies based off of books that I want to read, I went with this.   At first glance, this looked to be a B-Movie. It turned out to be not even that. And no, it's not so bad it's good. It simply falls flat and has nothing to offer. There's some good action here, and some of these people are legitimately good actors. However, why is Josh Peck still playing a teenager? I really want to give him a chance at older and m

Reasons to Move to Canada

A definitive list.   1. The Wolverine is Canadian. You'll have something in common with Wolverine. 2. The women are magical. When they go out into the woods and sing, squirrels and deer and red-necked grosbeaks respond, and follow them home and help them do chores. 3. The men are super-manly. They are build like lumberjacks and have super-thick beards. Some of them are even as manly as Wolverine. 4. There are only ten provinces to remember the capitals to. 5. You have a better chance of mee

Ready Player One: Quick Thoughts

No Easter Egg at the end of the credits....   My goodness, it just occurred to me that this whole movie is about people who hunt for Easter Eggs and it's coming out over Easter.   How did I not realize that until just now?   Also, I liked the main cast of characters. I appreciated their diversity and how it brought out something unique in each one of them.   This movie has Gundam jumping from the Serenity to team up with the Iron Giant against Mecha Godzilla. Pretty awesome. And apparently there

Re-releasing Titanic

James Cameron updates a few minutes to look extra-high-definition, so naturally he's re-releasing it and hyping it up as being better than ever, even though most won't notice the difference. Judging by the trailers, he hasn't updates the effects at all. They hold up pretty well, but they're not quite on the same level as Gravity. You'd think that it would be fairly easy for that guy to update those effects shots when you see the whole ship, you know? I mean, he's James Cameron. I personally

Ray Bradbury's Philosophy

One of my favorite books is Fahrenheit 451. There are plenty of books out there, bundles of paper with words on them, that have good stories, but this is one of the few that really tackles what the art of story is all about, especially within its respective genre of science fiction. Being a philosopher by nature, works like these are the ones that appeal to me. It really gets me thinking about why I read and why I look to the art of story, why it's one of the few things that we as a society s

Radicalism

A common term thrown about in the contemporary world when it comes to worldviews and analyzing the opinions of others is "radical". This word applies when one person holds views that end up on the extreme end of a spectrum.   Now personally, I feel that when someone holds a basic philosophy that if they truly believe in it they will follow through on it to the extremes of its implications. This is called being purist. There's nothing wrong with that, other than that sometimes a purist is forc

r[{13sin18+n389^(1/2)sin126-nsin18}/(13sin18)]

Just double-checking my math. Flag A has proportions 5:3. Width is <w> and height is <h>. There is a white star with five points, all spaces 72o apart.. All convex angles are 36o. All concave angles are 72o. The circumscribed circle of the star's outer points shall have a diameter (1/10)w. The circumscribed radius of the star's outer points is <r>, and the inscribed radius is <r2>, To coordinates of the star's center are <3r, 10r>. To roughly describe that to
