A friend in ND is me very giggly via instant messenger. It is good to talk to longtime friends! And now my computer is playing "Crash" by Dave Matthews Band. Yessss. THE DAY JUST GOT REALLY GOOD.
I am totally Maddison, and I am at Brickfair! Totes serious! I am not someone taking advantage of the webpage she left up when she ran to get ready for the day! Totes not! And I certainly wouldn't be a blog leader. That would be bad form! Totes bad form! I heart Oregon and everything involved with it!
I'm not sure why there were a bunch (seemingly random staff) blogs that were pinned. I fixed it though. I don't know if it was a glitch or something else or what, but the problem is currently solved!
First thing: BrickFair Mosaic Project! We've got the Onua mosaic up now, which is filling up slowly but surely, but there's still several pieces left that need claiming. My brother is graduating in less than three weeks from high school (woo!), so I'm working on a card for him. He loves VW Beetles and bough one last year, so I figured a card of his VW with a graduation cap would be something he'd like quite a lot. (lazy webcam shot because I didn't want to uncover my scanner from under a
These pumpkins! Spritz cookies in the shape of pumpkins! First Thanksgiving away from home, but my friends Christine and Jon had a Thanksgiving dinner with a bunch of people who weren't able to go home or live here and didn't have a Thanksgiving dinner in town to go to. While eating, we watched part of Madagascar 2, part of Elf, and all of The History of the World Part 1. And then we yelled at commercials for being silly. I made the aforementioned spritz cookies (which turned out very s
Today is the last day to register your MOCs and receive printed MOC cards. You can still register them after and be eligible for Brickee voting, but you'll have to make your own MOC cards. If you register your MOCs you will be as happy as this cockatoo. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-_nh5xiMz3M
I love Chris Van Allsburg's books and illustrations so much, hence the new side links. I'm starting to work on my final for my drawing class right now, and I realized that I wish I could try to incorporate some of his drawing style into my own work. It has such a dream-like feel to it, while also appearing so realistic, and I think it might help the overall look of this drawing. And, I'm not really sure what has triggered this newfound desire to rediscover all the books I grew up reading as a
Hey guys, give me some suggestions for the art/mosaic/sculpture award categories for Bricks Cascade. I'm coordinating that theme, but based on info I've been given/my experience coordinating the Other category at BrickFair, it's going to be art-like things such as mosaics and sculptures, but there will also be a bunch of other random stuff that doesn't really fit anywhere else. Like tapeworms. Right now categories I have as ideas are: -best mosaic (will be a category for sure) -best sculpture
I took over 900 photos last Sunday in Salem at the local qualifier for the soap box derby world championships. I think I should lay off the shutter button a bit. However all I have to say is "EDWARD YOU DID IT! YOU'RE GOING TO AKRON!!!"
Watch out. In other news, I am supposed to do a documentary photography project for photojournalism. It is supposed to last for the next nine weeks (until the end of term). Each week I am supposed to shoot at a minimum either one 36 exposure roll of film or the equivalent 75 digital images. The instructions talk about how we are not supposed to choose a subject matter that is too grandiose, or requires traveling (given the amount of bad weather we've been having). My professor gave ideas such
I am now the owner of a lamp that looks kind of like the Pixar one, a picture frame, Cranium: Turbo Edition, some random silverware, an iron, a retro-looking wall clock, and two pizza pans. This is all due to my friend Zach, who came back to grab something he forgot during the move out of his room and we came to the discovery that the last person to move out of the room (our RA) decided that he was just going to ignore the huge pile of garbage he had left in the room, as well as everything in
I like this a lot. And, I'm currently registering for classes for spring term (woo), but the majority of classes that I need to take for my communications minor either aren't available for spring term, or are one weekend classes that I can't take since they're offered on other campuses that are way far away and I don't have a way to get there. I think I wouldn't be so worried about this, but I have to have 15 credits every term, or I'll lose my scholarships and track eligibility. Right now,
I'm having a slightly difficult time properly describing my absolute loathing of allergies right now. I need more Zicam. And, keep helping me with my graphics class final project, please and thank you!
Pick bananas, pick, pick bananas. Then you peel bananas, peel, peel bananas. Then you eat bananas, eat, eat, bananas. Then you GO BANANAS GO GO BANANAS. Then you grow the mullet, grow, grow the mullet. Then you wash the mullet, wash, wash the mullet. Then you style the mullet, style, style the mullet. Then you ROCK THE MULLET ROCK ROCK THE MULLET. Then you shave the mullet, shave, shave the mullet. Then you shine your head, shine, shine your head. Then you ROCK THE BALDNESS ROCK ROCK THE BAL
Just got back from the Werst Race, a race for a guy who was on Eastern's track and cross country teams about 10 years back and is a phenomenal runner (like, placed at nationals and is an All-American) and really good cyclist who got and beatleukemia. All the money raised goes to help him pay off his medical bills. I finished the 5K in about 28 minutes, which I'm fine with, as distance running is not my forte. I didn't train much for it (very unwise idea) and my asthma deciding 2/3 into the rac
Hi everyone! I am at BrickFair with a ton of other people right now, and I found out that my Nike running shoe MOC is nominated for Best Sculpture! This is pretty freakin' sweet, as I'm really proud of how this MOC turned out, especially since it was my first real venture into a more traditional style LEGO build. If you are at BrickFair and are registered, if you could please go in to your account, go to the tab that says "Brickees" and vote for my shoe as Best Sculpture, that would be really
I went grocery shopping today. Partially because I am hungry and partially because this is the only time during the weekdays that I can go. As I have no car and the distance from home to WalMart is not an ideally walkable distance due to headwinds both ways (which is a legitimate thing here), I take the thing that has been deemed "public transit" in this town, which is a bus that runs to several different stops once an hour that will leave you stranded if you are not precisely on time to the sto
Zach went four for four in his medals! He just had the craziest kick in the last 50m of the 400m and snagged the bronze!! I am so excited to eventually see him competing as an Paralympian.
