Broadcasting Live....

So (if anyone cares to know), I decided to enter the Pimp your Blog competition (despite my better judgement as I'm leaving tomorrow to go work at a summer camp until August third, and don't really know just how much time I'll have to use the internet each day for updates and such).   But, why radio for my blog design for the Pimp Your Blog competition? I could have gone with numerous band-themed designs (U2, lady danville, Barenaked Ladies, Death Cab for Cutie, etc.) but once again, I seem to

You And You

Ok, so I left my painting class this evening a half an hour early, as my professor sent me home due to me breaking down into tears of frustration over struggling with getting a solid idea for my painting final, along with a complete feeling of overwhelm from my other classes, finals that are looming ahead of me, track, work, radio show: basically life in general.   Then I came on here and find this and this.   This pretty much made me cry some more (but it was good crying, I swear!) just because

Let's See Just How Fast I Can Read

Because last Thursday, my professor was all "Oh and by the way, test on Tuesday. Make sure you're up to date on the reading!" But, since this past weekend was lovely and warm and sunny and perfect for running around (even though I didn't have anyone to really hang out with), being responsible and doing homework was completely out of the question.   So, we're going to see if my super crazy reading skills will translate over to this book about typography in the next couple of hours.   And the mo

A Beatles Story

Once upon a time, there was a little five year old girl. You could consider her relatively normal and such, except for the fact that unlike the majority of five year olds, she absolutely loooved the band The Beatles. She had a Beatles calendar (but that will be another story for another time) and would always go and listen to her parents Beatles CDs and would also eventually have several years where she annoyed many DJs at the local radio stations with her constant phone calls requesting Beatl

My School Is Kind Of Awesome

Since my school isn't cool enough to have actual bells that ring on the hour, at one point in time they went and purchased various recordings of songs played out in bells which are blasted from rooftop speakers from one building at the top of the hour.   Now, you would think that they would try to find more traditional songs that are normally played by bells as a substitute, but whoever is in charge of programming it found and plays bell versions of the Imperial March and the Star Wars main them

Track Panoramic

Link'd, because it's an awkward photo size to post here.   This is the track that nationals is being held on here. It is beautiful (and soooo fast) and I want to somehow take their pole vault mats home with me. If I could fit them into my carry-on, I would.   Oh, and you know what's fun? Realizing that if you have wavy/curly hair and you don't dry/straighten it after a shower and go outside for a while, your hair pretty much goes *kapoof* because of the heat and humidity and your teammates (like

Classes

I don't know why I'm posting this, but here!   Art History I: The last of three art history classes I have to take. Mind you, because of weird scheduling issues, I ended up taking them in the order of II, III, and then I. So, one more term of listening to Cory hate on paintings of ponies. Oh man, lol.   Principles of Marketing: I have to take this for my communication minor. I'm not entirely sure how it's going to go, but it seems pretty interesting based on the textbook.   Public Speaking: This

It's Only Tuesday

Gahhhhh. It feels like a Friday, though. Not fun.   And I've realized that agreeing to go swimming at six in the morning was horrible idea. Definitely having major problems concentrating on anything and it's pretty critical that I do right now.   (and 161 days until BrickFair!!!)

Hooray For Tye-Dye Socks!

Today is just one of those days where tye-dye socks are a necessity, along with being wrapped up in a blanket and maybe having someone you like there to snuggle with while watching movies and not working on homework because it's rainy and nasty outside.   I've got three out of the six currently.   (and 306 days until BrickFair!)

A Band (Help Influence Me!) And My Design Class

Ok, so I need everyone's help for a project I'm doing in my graphics class. It's for my final project, and basically what it is is that I have to design a logo, a CD cover, and CD booklet for a made-up band. I have rough drafts for two different logos: number one and number two. I think my general style would be sort of alternativeish, but still kind of quirky, like Sia, Imogene Heap, lady danville, Dave Matthews Band, and a bit of Operator Please all mixed up together.   What I need help wi

Ten Years Ago....

"Ten years ago in 2001, a crack commando unit was sent to prison by a military court for a crime they didn't commit. These eight people promptly escaped from a maximum security stockade to the BZP underground. Today, still wanted by the government, they survive as bloggers of fortune. If you have a problem, if no one else can help, and if you can find them, maybe you can hire... The B-Team."   The B-Team would just like to say that is is extremely recommended to change your blog settings to "app

Throwing Discuses In The Name Of America

LET'S THROW DISCUSES IN THE NAME OF AMERICA AND INDEPENDENCE DAY. WOO HOO!!   (At a meet last March, this guy decided since he was competing unattached, he'd dress like this instead of just a plain uniform. It was quite creative)   I really want to get flag running shorts, though. A few guys on the XC team during high school did, and aptly dubbed their group "The Running U.N.". Except, then they were all "Maddison! You need to be part of this! You should get....Canadian flag shorts. Yeah! Becaus

The Snape Idea

Sisen: This reminds me of my snape idea. have you seen Up? Nukaya: yes Sisen: Imagine if the imaginary snipe was actually Snape. Nukaya: omg well, the real snipe because kevin is a real snipe but really isn't a snipe well, just imagine snape wearing colours like that Sisen: Wait isn't kevin the kid? Nukaya: kevin is the bird even though it's a girl bird I guess snape can sort of wear colours ooh! wait this means that snape is a drag queen! Sisen: Oh whoops. See I was thinking more of the squirr

Eastward Bound

Going back to school tomorrow, as well as moving into the house I'll be staying in for the school year. Man, year three already? And I'm a junior or something? Wow. We're leaving at 7 AM (blahhhhhh), and I realized that in all of the stuff regarding the house, my two roommates and I never figured out anything in regards to getting internet service there. Right now, I'm not entirely sure when I'll have consistent internet next beyond using the wi-fi on campus to check up on things, and we'll see

Self Portraits!

No. I do not want to date you. I don't want to go on a date out to dinner with you. You are a very nice guy, but regardless of how nice or interesting you may be there's not even a glimpse of a chance that I'll ever date any guy on the track team here. That just doesn't work for me, because I've seen way too many people on this track team date each other and then it all falls apart and it just gets really awkward during practices, meets, etc. And, there's something offsetting when it comes to da

Versailles And Wifi

School packing list: "The dorms do not have wifi so you have to get an ethernet cable in order to get internet, because only Loso, the library, and Quinn have wifi."   Me: Ok. *goes and buys an ethernet cable*   ....a school year and several months pass....   Me: *unplugs internet and walks to front room with laptop to watch Olympics and do homework*   *internet doesn't disappear and continues to frolic around as it likes to do*   Me: O.o Wha?   They finally got wifi access for the whole school,

Insufficient Inability Of Certain People

Even though it's still over a fortnight away, I do not really want to go back to school right now. I keep thinking of how many people I have began to loathe from last year due to their sheer ability to instantly make you feel like a complete and utter loser the second they open their mouth (but if you say anything to them in your defense, it means that you're a horrible person with an awful opinion who is a disgrace to society). It wouldn't be so bad if they were just other students, but one of

Eeeee!

So, I'm in the radio station and ChocolateFrogs starts messaging me and is like "I hear you on the radio!" because he was listening on the online stream as well, so I'm all happy that people are actually listening.   Then, the station phone starts blinking at me, so I go and answer it.   "Hi, 91.7" "Hi Maddison!" "Um, hi...? (thinking: Wait, I know this voice, where do I know this voice from....)" "This is ChocolateFrogs!!!" "OMGWHAAAAT*spazzout*"   So yeah. Half of the conversation was me spazz

We're California Bound

Heading to San Francisco from today until Sunday, as there are not just one, but THREE track meets all within 30 miles of each other on Friday and Saturday. The hotels we'll be staying at should all have internet, but if I suddenly disappear, it means we are internetless. It should be a very good rest of spring break. The first part was pretty awesome and I have wonderfully wacky photos from the first half of it to upload as well.   And, how is everyone (who else is on spring break? We're all ki

Hey did you know you can buy this LEGO shoe

You can buy this shoe in the last days of Creations for Charity 2012! It is super cool and totally rad and I built it and oh man is it awesome it used up like all of my orange pieces.   All the proceeds of purchasing a MOC from Creations for Charity goes to purchasing LEGO sets for underprivileged children.   Buy it here!     Yeah!!!

Icy Art And Snails

Snail helmet.   That image link above is a design I did for a helmet design contest a local bike company was doing. Basically, design a helmet based off of a certain brand of helmet makers helmets (which often "feature whimsical, ironic, sometimes loud, other times just plain pretty designs"), and then we'll pick our favourite and the designer gets a $500 gift card to our store.   Now, this was something I'd heard about a few weeks before, but forgot about until Friday, the day before it was due

Two Things

One: EW has one of the coolest real-life full name ever.   Two: I have severe mixed feelings towards Disney's The Princess and the Frog movie trailer. The visuals so far look phenomenal, but I'm not so hyped about the actual plot. And, they're advertising it as "the story behind the most magical kiss the world has ever known". Oh, please. We all know that the one between Buttercup and whatisface in the Princess Bride is number one (at least according to the grandpa).
