Chai Tea Fueled Paper Writing Frenzies

Three AM and still working on a paper in a chai tea and random musical mashup-fueled frenzy. And there's another paper to write after I finish this one, so oh boy.   Mmmmm, random chocolate from my desk. Nom nom nom. These paragraphs in this paper are getting out of control. Eep.   Yeah, I should not try to blog while sleep deprived. I'm sure that I'm going to read this in a few hours and be thoroughly confused as to what I was going on about.   And it feels as if everything is starting to spin

22nd

Happy 22nd anniversary, Mom and Dad! <3   Also, getting to run the control board in the radio station while we do a live broadcast from my college's homecoming parade is going to be pretty cool later today. Provided it all works correctly.

TOMORROW IS NATIONAL HUG A CROSS COUNTRY RUNNER DAY.   SO GO HUG A CROSS COUNTRY RUNNER.   Might have to tell them to stop running for a moment so you can hug them.   BUT SERIOUSLY GO HUG THEM. Despite popular belief, they do not bite. Unless you really make them mad or something.   Oh, and the men's team, along with two of the women from my university's XC team qualified for the national cross country meet, which is happening this Saturday at Ft. Vancouver. Woo hoo! I might carpool with some pe

Nasal Strips

Wearing one makes me feel a bit like Galen Rupp.   I kind of want to go running now.   In other news, I've had two 14 hour work days in a row and a couple of 8-12 hour work days prior to that as extra help at Edible Arrangements. Even though the extra money will be awesome (paying off BrickFair!!!), everything hurts and I'm paying the price for it via sore throat and stuffed up nose. Woo hoo!   (and 224 days until BrickFair!!)

The Tree House

(Click, please!)   Please direct comments/critiques/maybe a vote or two in the polls/constructive criticism/cookies (if you have any) to the topic. I'll be grateful for any feedback, especially as I haven't done coloured pencil work in quite some time.   Thank you!

Lenses

In a similar vein to Smeag's material things entry, I was dreaming about camera lenses last night. Unfortunately, unless I go with some really cheap used ones (but no guarantee that they'll be in as decent quality as the sellers claim), I can't afford anything like that photography-wise currently.   Ah, someday....   In other news, I am in like crazy photo mode all the time now. It's kind of great.   ALSO: pinhole camera photos, just as soon as I scan them in.

Toast Cat

As myths go, apparently if you butter toast, and it falls, it is supposed to land butter-side down no matter what.   And, cats are supposed to land on their feet no matter what.   So....   Cat+piece of buttered toast strapped to its back=antigravity?   Where is my cat? And where is the bread?   (and 329 days until BrickFair!)

Spring Fling And Centrevol

Basically yesterday went like this:   I go to the radio station at like 8:45ish and I'm doing my show and I'm there and it's going great, and I'm finding awesome music and around 11, Brian, our station manager calls me: "Hey, Maddison, there's a band coming in and I'm interviewing them, so I'm kicking you off the air an half an hour early."   Except, Brian didn't know what time they were coming and I just ended playing stuff until they got there, so it was pretty much the full time anyway. So,

"Ɓrickfair This Year"

I just realized that I can put "BrickFair this year" in a sentence, and it totally means something to me.   BRICKFAIR!!! OH BOY!!!   In other news....   Christmas and winter break were quite nice. And I got U2 tickets for Christmas. U2 TICKETS!!! OMGOMGOMGOMGOMG. However, I'm back at school and classes start tomorrow. Blah. My classes this term are Drawing II, Intermediate Painting II, Art History II, and Argumentative Writing (oh, and track, because we practice so much it kind of counts as a cl

"ḊṘ ẆḢȮ İṠ ______"

I dreamt last night that for whatever reason, my phone number was given to every member on BZP and I was constantly getting flooded with calls that were all "FIX THE SERVER NOW, PLEASE", and while I appreciated these people asking so politely (albeit in a very loud and caps lock'd manner), I was like "uhhhhhh, I think you should be talking to Bink....or Black Six....or someone that is not me...."   Then, while wandering my universities' campus trying to answer all of these calls, I went back to

Congrats Class Of 2010!

There's a lot of people graduating from various establishments of education that I know, which is quite exciting. Let's see....my brother, EW, Lady K, Black Six, a ton of seniors on the track team....congrats to all of you! You are all so amazing.   My brother's high school class had well over 600 graduates in it (craaaazy). I thought my graduation took ages, and we only had five hundred-something.   Here's the finished car-card! This was fun to try to paint while I was attempting to hide it fro

Finals

So, I'm done with finals.   Wait. Hold the phone.   I'M DONE WITH FINALS!!!   Ok, that was so worth the five minutes it took for me to change the colour of each of those letters. And even though the last eight hours have been some of the most stressful in a very long time, I think my favourite part was when Kerry walked over to my computer, looked at the part of my final I was finishing up and said "You're insane. That's a good thing" and then walked off. It was just so utterly random, and th

Self Portraits!

No. I do not want to date you. I don't want to go on a date out to dinner with you. You are a very nice guy, but regardless of how nice or interesting you may be there's not even a glimpse of a chance that I'll ever date any guy on the track team here. That just doesn't work for me, because I've seen way too many people on this track team date each other and then it all falls apart and it just gets really awkward during practices, meets, etc. And, there's something offsetting when it comes to da

A Peculiar Yet Very Nice Dream

So I had a dream like a month back that I was at EW's house for some reason (though I don't know how I got there) and we were hanging out and then Tarik, Roa, ChocolateFrogs, Lady K, VF, and a bunch of other BZPers showed up out of the blue and we had a spontaneous party. And it was really out of the blue: as I recall, we were sitting there and people pretty much apparated into the room.   I forgot about that dream and I just randomly remembered it and I thought you all should know, because it

Cabinets Of Curiosities!

Yesterday, in my painting class we were discussing Julie Heffernan's painting "Self-Portrait as Wunder Kabinet". Someone wanted to know what exactly a "wunder kabinet" was, so the professor was explaining how it was a cabinet or room that was first used in the 16th century to store objects such as valuables or antiques. I started giggling, and when my professor asked what I thought was so funny, I told her that it sounded so much like it could be the wardrobe to Narnia.   Gotta love how my mind

I Am...

19 now! Or, 6,940 days, 166,560 hours, or 9,993,600 minutes, depending on how you measure the passage of time. So, now what?   I should probably be writing some sort of deeply sentimental entry about the wisdom I've gained through the past 19 years and all the awesome memories I have and how much I love all the wonderful people I know and then thank each and every one of them, but....   NOW IT IS TIME FOR CUPCAKES! Woo hoo!   (not actually mine, I just think they're terribly cute)   We shall se

Balloons Are Amazing

Ok, so one balloon by itself is pretty cool. Like, you can play volleyball with it, or entertain a cat, or fill it with water and throw it at someone, you know, tons of fun stuff. But. what if you had several thousand balloons? All in one room? And then you added some college students who just got done with finals and have a bit too much energy? The results are quite astounding:   One half of the mastermind team that started this entire thing. Raaaave! For a comparison to just how tall the ba

R. A.

My mother does not seem to realize that even though she wants me to take a job as a Resident Assistant next year at my college due to the financial benefits of not having to pay for housing or a meal plan for next year, that if I were take the job next year I would most likely completely lose it with being an R.A., the track team, everything that goes along with being an art major, and the rest of my life all clamoring for attention at the same time.   You weren't an RA. It was a good decision.-

Puddle Jumping!

That is what I did to commemorate one year of being a high school graduate on Thursday. Because nothing says "Yes! I worked through 13 years of schooling and lived to tell the tale, thank you very much!" like running around your campus with a group of friends while stomping in puddles during a thunderstorm.   It's kind of a weird feeling, though, because on Wednesday, the class of '09 from my high school graduated and I know a ton of people in that class, and my brother is going to graduate fr
