it is literally scientifically impossible to like birds without liking dinosaurs.

and it's done

only took me about six hours off-and-on to complete my entry   http://www.bzpower.com/board/index.php?showtopic=10603   oddly, that's more indicative of my impatient nature than of the actual quality of the comic, as I made sure it was only the ripest irony i could pluck.

and another thing

the twist at the end of the Karda Nui arc would have been so much more of a twist if it werent for the fact that ever since 2005 Makuta popped up to say "all according to keikaku"   and if not him someone else would come along to say "yep this is it this is makuta's plan"   really the only thing that kept it a surprise was that we didnt know the universe was in a giant robot

Almost Ready

Wow, I can't believe Brickfair VA is in a week already! Especially since there are still preparations I'd been putting off.   Like bus tickets! Just bought those today, which means they ended up more expensive than I had planned. With those, though, I've at least got the basics ready. I've got the tickets, the room, and the MOCs. (Well, besides a Love theme vignette I wanted to make; that's gonna be a bit last-minute.) Still, it feels like I've got so little time to prepare!   Still excited, tho

Age of Extinction

Not a good look at much, though that didn't stop me from catching things that rub me the wrong way. Horned tyrannosaurs? Two-headed pterosaurs? Yes, we get it. They're robot dinosaurs, you're Michael Bay, and you get to do whatever the heck you want in the name of Rool of Cule. Whatever. It's stupid, but whatever. Is that flapping metal on Crosshairs or whatever? Really? Flapping metal, just to give cool "trenchcoat"? You could at least have TRIED making it conceivable. Is that Megatron? A

Ace Attorney Music Opinions

Best Pursuit Theme: Ace Attorney 1: Cornered!   Best Objection Theme: Dual Destinies' remastered Objection! from Trials and Tribulations   Best Announce the Truth Theme: Either Ace Attorney 1 or Dual Destinies; it's a tough call for me.   Best Questioning Theme: Dual Destinies   Overall Ranking: AA1>>>>>>>>>AA3>AA5>AA4>>>AA2   There are exceptions to that ranking besides the above bests, though. Justice For All has a far better Announce The Truth than Tr

A Suggested Fix for Queen Beast

Okay, so Queen Beast has her little butt cocoon, right? The instructions tell you to attach it like this:     That looks OK, but it can be better than OK. That's kinda gappy, and hangs low compared to the rest of her body. How do we fix this? Simple! We just turn the socket 180 degrees.     Voila! The cocoon now presses snugly against the armor on the body and creates a nice bodily flow. The cocoon has sufficient force closing it that whatever you put in her butt won't fall out even with the s

a quick WIP

After the T. rex skeleton thing, Izaak suggested I make a whole bunch of minifig-scale dino skeletons, so I started. I then put it on hold because it ended up being more difficult than I anticipated, and only just now got back to it, with the first almost-completed skeleton to show for it.   The white probably won't stick around; it makes it recognizable as bones, but fossils aren't white. They're brown, or tan, or some rocky color. The final version will probably be Brick Yellow, Sand Yellow, o

A few things about Bionicle 2015...

It should come as no surprise to anyone if they try to recapture the setting and mood of 2001-2003. After all, sales were at their highest then; if they want to make this go big, they're going to go back to what drew people in in the first place. I've said it again and again, but it's worth repeating: a reboot is absolutely going to happen. If it doesn't, I still won't think it isn't the best decision, I'll merely question LEGO's decision, because a continuation or soft reboot/time skip are far

1000 supporters on the Fossil Museum!

Over on LEGO Ideas, my Fossil Museum project has hit over 1000 supporters in a mere week! At this rate of support, I could hit 10,000 in nine more weeks! In celebration, I did something I'd been meaning to do for a while: draw up a rough design for the torso print for the Paleontologist.     The eagle-eyed among you probably notice the similarity between this design and my earlier self-minifigure. I freely admit to living my dream through this minifigure. If LDD had the capabilities, I also wou

"Old-Fashioned"

There is a very big difference between "old-fashioned" and "outdated and bigoted", and for some reason people who are the latter like to claim they are the former. I'm here to point out the difference between the two that I thought was very clear, but for some reason people like to muddy. I'm going to give you some examples of worldviews, and then explain whether it's old-fashioned, or just straight-up bigoted.   Let's start easy.   People of different races are fundamentally different in ways t

"ohwunners"

I've noticed, especially on tumblr, a lot of people attempting to push the term "ohwunners" as a term for people who irrationally dislike the new Bionicle. Its origins are obvious; it comes from the term "genwunner" used in the Transformers and Pokemon fandoms, only with "ohwun" used to allude to Bionicle's first year.   To me, that seems like a misnomer. People who loved 2001 above all other years actually seem to be the most vocal supporters of the new Bionicle. In fact, if anyone has shown th

"Dark"

What does it mean for a story to be "dark"?   Does it mean it has death? It can't be; people died in Transformers: Animated, and I've yet to see it described as dark.   So what is it about death that makes something dark? Well, based on things I've seen described as "dark" (The Dark Knight trilogy, Michael Bay's Transformers, Bionicle 2005-2008), I'd say a "dark" story places an emphasis on killing, and on casual disregard for life. The more reference to death and deadliness, the more mature you
