The May Five-and-a-half

...because it's more euphonious with an extra half-question.   I've been experiencing extreme BZP-backlog. Every time I try to get on to complete unfinished business, I get smacked upside the virtual head with a slew of BMs. It also doesn't help that I'm busier than usual due to the preparations for my grandma's 80th birthday party (To be held at our house because we have a large house and a ridiculously large (11 sibs on my mom's side) extended family). I'll get around to some more necromancy

Maybe There's Something To Pacifism After All...

Semifinals? OMGosh! Anyway, as I may or may not have mentioned, when my cousin was over I built a few MOCs using parts from his collection. It was pretty much a win-win situation, as he got to return home and wow his friends with comparatively awesome MOCs, and I got to play around with an unfamiliar parts palette, albeit an extremely limited one (almost entirely '06-07 sets, and not a 1 x 2 liftarm in the lot). Regardless, I think I did pretty well. Rather than make a topic for them, I've deci

Compensation

For what, I'm not exactly sure. Perhaps it's for the complete lack of anything random in the previous entry. Perhaps it's for the deplorable lack of songs about aquatic invertebrates by Elton John. Perhaps it's for the slightly-less-deplorable lack of previous squid-related entries. Or perhaps it's compensation for all of the above. Anywhoo, here's a little ditty I composed in transit to class a few days ago:   Echinodermata! What a wonderful name It's got starfishes Crinoids 'n' more of the

We Are Happy Day!

I'm sorry, but that's just been going through my head all day for some reason. The "some reason" is most likely that Janus's sig has corrupted my thinking processes. My grandma's 80th birthday party was today. A bunch of family members came from all over this state, Montana, and Australia to celebrate my grandma's life. Yay! 's all very nice. and, due to travel distances and whatnot, some of those family members are staying overnight, including my cousin (looking over my shoulder right now) who

I Can Has More Necromancies?

After my first several months at BZP I stopped being a total newbie and dipped into newbness intermittently, and less frequently as time went on. Nonetheless, there are many more questionably humorous posts that I have dug up I also found evidence that I was around when Ninjo got his first promotion. I feel...cold. *drops apple* Uh-huh. He's going to wake up before he even gets put to sleep. Ha, Pyushi. I have no idea if that was intentional or not. Mm-hm. Mm-hm. Uh. Weird. And th

Necromancy! Well, Sort Of.

Inspired by one of Little Miss Krahka's OUTRAGES!, I decided to necromancify some of my old posts for your non-edification. Among other things, I found some extremely funny old topics, proof that I voted in BBCC #5, some politically sensitive material that I can't believe I got away with posting, and a heap of nostalgic reminiscence-things. Anyone remember KToT's stories, pixy stix, and the old-style CoT where guests could post?   I can't believe I actually admitted to having a crush on [name

So Long, And Thanks For All The Free Ice Cream.

I shall be gone from 2/21 to 4/9 as a result of my giving up the Internets for Lent. Before I shuffle off this mortal blog-thingy, I shall provide the link to my latest MOCs, Toa Patuara and Kamu. Tearful goodbyes, etc., etc. can be deposited in the drop box below at your own risk.   Arpy

Dragonflies And Katydids...

...but mostly chewed-up little kids.   I seem to recollect that, in my travels, I once came across a topic by Crystal Matrix containing links to many of the old Flash movies that were on Bionicle.com in 2001-2002. If anyone has a link to this topic, could they please post it, and if not, perhaps a link to some other place that has those movies? I'd like a picture of Patuara for my profile and/or avatar, and he only appears in one of those movies. If I can't find it, I'll have to make do with so

Insanity On Tap

When in the course of human events, we find it necessary to replace Orlando Bloom's head with a giant pumpkin, we hold these truths to be self-evident: That all møøse are created equal, endowed with certain alienable rights, among these the rights to life, Raspberry Jell-O, and one nation, under God, inexplicable, with free cookies and the aforementioned Rasperry Jell-O for all, in sickness and in health, and really bad eggs, buck up, me hearties, yo ho!   Arpy   Original Date: 5/2/07

Go, Spidey, Go!

I have devised a complex mathematical equation to convey my experience tonight: I got into the first showing. It was awesome. A detailed post will follow once more people have had a chance to see it.   Arpy

Ego Boost: Incalculable.

Am I really insane? Never mind, it doesn't matter. I have acquired a BotW. That is all that matters. Happy Maternal Dominance Day!   Arpy   Edit: Okay, it seems I had an entire BotW acceptance speech laid out in my subconscious, but when I was faced with the actual reality of the thing, the above is all that leaked out. A little more leakage follows: I'd like to thank my readership for giving me something to respond to and the occasional suggestion (direct or indirect) on how to improve my bl

The April Five

I got in the newspaper! In retrospect, it is possible that the stick made of dry-erase markers wasn't such a hot idea, but who cares? I'm famous now. If I can somehow get our scanner to work, I'll post the picture for all to see.   Anyway, rather than blatantly ripping off ol' what's-his-face and doing this every Tuesday, I'm going to rip him off only a little and only do this every month: What superpower would you have if you were a superhero? How often do you view ANFSCD? (yes, I need data,

My Nose Hurts.

My nose got thoroughly abused in my soccer game today. I got hit in the face by the ball (I was of course trying to head it), and I think it took some skin off. It feels like sunburn. Anyway, Shine started a mini-fad, and I have joined right in with a slightly-less-horrible picture of my entry, whose working name is The Ridiculously Pacifistic Non-Snapping Sea Turtle: I'm actually pretty close to being done. Just a few small alterations and I should be good to go.   Arpy

Halp!

I can't decide whether to go with a sea turtle or a ray for my BBC 43 entry. The sea turtle should look cooler, but it doesn't really fit into any Barraki army and there's this annoying half-stud offset that I'm having trouble with. The ray will probably be less cool-looking, but it actually fits in an army.   I'm going to use this entry to dump some accumulated random pics on y'all. First, there are a couple pictures of my two misprinty pieces: The socket came with Vezon and Fenrakk, and I'm

House Open

So, last night the place where I take my IT class had an open house. Parents and students crammed into the building to sample the various classes offered, including Massage Therapy (meh), Culinary Arts (food!), IT Technology (mine!), Digital Media (a friend's) and a bunch of other stuff.   This was majorly cool for two reasons: One, I finally got to visit my friend's Digital Media classroom. Until then our mingling had been limited to after classes, and I hadn't got a chance to check out her c

Freeeow! Pop Pop Pop!

Rather than attempting to string recent events together in some sort of run-on paragraph, I shall fall back on the old standby of making a list:   1. I pulled a leg muscle playing soccer Saturday. It's not so bad now, but for a while I had to lift and move the leg if I wanted to move it somewhere without it hurting.   2. As expected, I got thoroughly trounced in the preliminaries. I expect that I deserved 2/3 of the trouncing, as Bundalings and Seranikai both had excellent MOCs, but getting be

Preliminary Poll Foxtrot...that Is Like, So Cool.

When I first started entering BBC contests, I never imagined I'd see the day when we'd be using Alpha, Bravo, etc. as poll designators. While it's nice to see that this contest is so popular, I'm probably not going to be able to vote in all the preliminaries, due to their sheer number and the restraints on my time. I'm privileged to be in the same poll as Bundaling's Ussal Twins and Seranikai's Mr. Shrimp (and their sluggies and miniature Ussals, respectively), which are a couple of great entrie

My Order Came!

After all, material acquisition is the most important thing on the planet.   I'm particularly excited about the dark red double-joints, the letter tiles, the nine Throwbot feet, the dark bley technic cams, and in fact most of the rest of the order. The seller even included some free stuff, seen at far right.   Arpy

Voluntary Sleep Deprivation = Lame Entry Title

I've had a couple great MOCing ideas recently: One, build a minifig-sized starship Bistromath. Two, build a Lego/and/or/Bionicle mech based off the robots from a video-involving-the-most-annoying-thing-ever. The first probably isn't feasible given the size of my collection, but the latter might make for an interesting project. I should also mention (for posterity's sake, if nothing else) that I have a bunch of smallish Lego MOCs and a couple larger Bionicle ones that need to be put up. However

Surrender Is Not An Option!

^Quote from a political ad sponsored by John McCain ad that came up during a Board Message^ It's nice to know that single-issue voters such as those in favor of destroying Lord Survurlode will have someone to vote for.   I'm fairly tired after a fun night spent quasi-partying/hanging/random-verb-here with friends. It's very entertaining to watch a trio of girls, one of which is still slightly doped out on opiates (Don't ask. If you ask, I shall have to bore you with a Tedious Reminiscence.), a

A Single Nui Bush Maintains The Balance

So I was Internet-hopping just now when I found this Spanish forum with a Bionicle topic. Out of curiosity, I translated it using Google, and I got some real gems: I'm guessing "Mata" is a Spanish word for bush?  Wow. Wait until my cousin learns her name means "Mascara of the Resuscitation".   Caput! Those silly Google translators.       Arpy

The Ravenous Bugblatter Beast Of Traal

Huh. Apparently complaining about blog ratings counts as an invitation to give my blog an even lower rating. Who knew? Anyway, instead of wasting any more of your time whining about something that doesn't really matter that much, I will instead post the link to my latest creation, the Ravenous Bugblatter Beast of Traal.   Arpy
