I don't know if anyone here has heard of Retr0bright (yes, the "0" is intentional), but it is one of the best tools that someone like me with older LEGO sets could have possibly found whilst perusing the interwebs. It's a mixture of hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) and Oxi-Clean (or similar product) which takes old white, gray, even blue pieces that have faded and gained an ugly orange-y tint. If you don't know of this phenomenon, you either have not been collecting LEGO long enough, or you keep your
Recently I acquired an account on the lovely secondhand LEGO store known as BrickLink. This has been wonderful for my inner child and slightly stressful for my pocketbook, as I have slowly been buying sets from my childhood that I saw in LEGO catalogs but was unfortunate never to get. Of those nostalgic sets, I acquired the Night Lord's Castle and Alien Avenger of the Fright Knights and UFO themes, respectfully. Night Lord's Castle: Awesome. It's pretty much everything a creepy castle run
I hope everyone had a fun-filled day of costumes and sweets. My roommate and I stocked up on all sorts of candy, and no one showed up. It was sad, but the plus side is that we have enough candy to last through Christmas. My roommate dressed as Sherlock Holmes, and I dressed as his colleague, Dr. John H. Watson. I had a fun time. 8D
Hi, all, New comic (and topic) have been posted over in the comics forum! Check it out! To address the maths in the new comic, the first sum is 1 + 2 + 4 + 8 + ... = Sum(2^n), where n = 0, 1, 2, 3, ... all the way up to infinity. Now, if we look at the partial sums of this series, we see that the sum of the first term is 1, the first two terms is 3, the first three terms is 7, first four terms is 15, etc. Clearly, the sum gets bigger the more terms you add on. However, let's say that w
Welcome back, everyone! As you may or may not have noticed, I haven't yet put life back into my comics topic (and by that, I mean re-posting said topic with new comics). I am, however, currently working on a new comic for the rebirth of Akano's Comics, so stay tuned for that. Also, super-happy-fun news, I have recently acquired Night Lord's Castle from the classic Fright Knights theme of LEGO System, and I have to say, it is quite the awesome set. Basil's pad is something to envy, I must s
So, this weekend marked the grand opening of a LEGO store that's actually within driving distance of my home. I stood over two hours in line to get in (it was insane!), but I managed to retrieve a LEGO R2-D2 Duplo block and got my fourth Pharaoh's Quest set - Flying Mummy Attack - while enjoying the LEGO atmosphere. It was a blast.
I also got a green laser pointer. It's much fun to take long exposure photos of writing your own name on a wall in a dark room in green laser.
Also, there's
Clearly I am the best blogger ever. XD
I just got an e-mail last night accepting me into one of the graduate schools I've applied to! Akano is on his way to torturing physics students by lecturing them to death on how trumpets work. 8D
Also, I got the new Pharaoh's Quest 7327 Scorpion Pyramid. While Jake Raines is no Johnny Thunder, I have to say that LEGO having a new Egypt line makes me happy. 8D
The summer's almost over, and I can't wait.
I know, summer vacation is almost over, so why would I want it to end? Well, for me it's not much of a vacation (since I've been working 40+ hours a week), and I'm really eager to go back to school. Also, autumn is my favorite season of the year, and I'm not too sad about having to say goodbye to the heat we've had.

Guess it's been a while. I don't think anyone's surprised.
Here's what has happened since I last posted here: I sang at my school's graduation back in May and realized that in one year I'll be walking in front of all those people receiving my diploma. Scary thought. I spent a short two weeks at a mini physics internship. I wish I could have stayed longer, but the college I went to did not have enough funding to take me on for the full summer. My brother, KopakaKurahk, and I ha
So, I just saw the new Sherlock Holmes movie Friday night. (I know, I'm behind the times) I have to say, IT WAS EPIC! I love Sherlock Holmes mysteries, and this movie was no exception.
Also, for those of you comic lovers out there, NEW COMIC! I know, can you believe it?
Naruto: Believe it!
Now I'm off to research fractals. 8D
With the end of break comes the beginning of a new semester.
At least, that happened last week. Today commences week two of my spring semester of my junior year (though I'm a senior by credits—thank you, Advanced Placement!). The week before that was our college's choir tour, my first since I just joined last semester. Holy mukau. I can't even begin to describe how awesome that experience was. I look forward to next year's tour.
This semester I'm taking a lovely range of physics cour
Since it is now the end of the semester at my school, professors are winding down the semester by ramping up the students' workloads. Isn't that just dandy?!
Thus, real life takes over and Akano's free time goes from some to nearly none. On the bright side though, my brother KK and I recently had a recent acquisition of a Legend of Zelda DS Lite! (Do do do doo!) Thus, super fun happy fourth-gen Pokémon games are going to be played by us (KK has already gotten Platinum. I personally am wai
I was on a walk the other day after lunch and a beautiful aroma hit my nose. It was faint, almost fleeting, until it got slightly more intense, then faded away. It is the best smell in the world
It is the smell of a fire burning in the fireplace of a distant house, which means one glorious thing: Winter is on its way.
So, I don't know about all of you, but I had a fantabulous Easter weekend.
I went to my college friend's house in PA, went to the Baltimore Science Center (kind of a let down), and stayed one night at his family's farm. Four-wheeling is fun. 8D
Then, since there was next to no light pollution at his farm, we went out around 11:30 at night and stargazed. It was fun times.
I now want a farm. 8D
Yeah, the current weather is about 45°F and overcast with annoying, non-thunderstorm rain.
But, such is the way my hometown treats its people during spring break. This week is for me to relax, take a mental break from college, and continue to put off an 8-10 page paper for philosophy of science. Kill me now. XP
I really wish the sun were out right now. Not only would it help dry up the muddy ground, but it would bring more light into the house and to the outside. I'd probably enjoy a
Today, the yellow Toa of Electricity you all know and love takes a step towards a journey he has not encountered before and leaves an old journey behind to be remembered for the rest of his life. I exit the decade of teenage, and enter my twenties.
Today is my twentieth birthday!
And yet, I don't feel too different. I think the change from one age to the next doesn't immediately happen on someone's birthday, but over time takes effect. Or I'll just stay the random jokester I've always b
I am the worst blogger ever. XD
Anywhosit, since I last posted it's been at least two months, and in that time, Christmas break drew to a close and I'm now in the middle of my fourth semester at college. Yayz.
It's amazing how fast college is going. Another two years and I'll be on my last semester. There's a scary thought. What's even scarier is that I was looking at a friend's LEGO magazine today, and it hit me that over a decade has gone by since my most favorite LEGO theme, the Adv
Yes, busyings may not be a word, but I'm using it, dang it!
As my finals are about to start tomorrow I've been keeping myself busy with other things to make myself forget that I have finals. For instance, I've been working on the following image:

I'm not sure if the proportions of all the islands are correct, but I think this is the general idea of how the universe is laid out in the body of Mata Nui. I'm also unsure of the placement
Christmas time is probably the most wonderful time of the year. I love it so much. ^^
What I don't like about right now is that my final exams for the semester are all up ons next week. Luckily they're only spread out over three days, and I have two days off to study for my first finals.
Also, I really need to brush off the cobwebs and dust from this poor abandoned blog. I never update it.
